[Which screen and video capture platform provides analytics on video engagement?](/discussions/which-screen-and-video-capture-platform-provides-analytics-on-video-engagement)

I’m curious which [screen or video capture tools](https://www.g2.com/categories/screen-and-video-capture) actually help measure engagement. Beyond just recording, I’d like to know who watched, for how long, and where they dropped off, especially for training or onboarding content.

Here are a few that came up in my search:

- [Loom](https://www.g2.com/products/atlassian-loom/reviews): Offers basic viewer insights like watch time and reactions. Is that enough for most teams?
- [Vidcast](https://www.g2.com/products/vidcast/reviews): Positions itself around engagement analytics. Has anyone found its reporting reliable at scale?
- [Zoom Workplace](https://www.g2.com/products/zoom-workplace/reviews): Webinar reports show attendance and duration. Do these metrics carry over well to recorded sessions?
- [Camtasia](https://www.g2.com/products/camtasia/reviews): Doesn’t include analytics by default. Do teams integrate it with LMS platforms to get tracking?
- [Riverside](https://www.g2.com/products/riverside/reviews): Known more for recording quality, but does anyone pair it with analytics tools effectively?

For those who track video performance:

- Which tool gave you the most useful insights?
- Did built-in analytics meet your needs, or did you need extra integrations?
- How did engagement data influence your training or content strategy?

Thanks for sharing!

Has anyone tried exporting Loom or Vidcast data into a BI tool for deeper analysis? Curious if that’s practical or too messy.

Answered: Harshita Tewari on September 28, 2025

Zoom works well for live sessions, but I would not rely on it as much for recorded content analytics. You still get attendance and duration data, but not the kind of detail that helps you understand engagement more deeply, like drop-off points or which parts held attention. Hope this helps!

Answered: Aditi Rai on April 15, 2026

I’ve found that built-in analytics in most of these tools are great for quick visibility, but they often don’t provide the full picture. For more comprehensive insights, it's better to export the data into BI tools, though that adds complexity. In my experience, it’s only worth the effort when I’m tracking engagement across multiple videos or teams.

Answered: Aishwarya Pillai on April 14, 2026

I have used Loom’s analytics a bit, and they’re great for quick insights, like who watched and how far they got. It works fine for basic tracking, but it’s not super deep. For training or onboarding, I found it helpful, just not enough on its own.

[What is the top-rated screen and video capture software for enterprises?](/discussions/what-is-the-top-rated-screen-and-video-capture-software-for-enterprises)

Hi, G2 community. I’m evaluating enterprise-ready solutions for screen and video capture. The focus isn’t just on recording; editing, scalability, and collaboration are just as important when hundreds of people might be using the same tool.

Here are a few [screen and video capture platforms](https://www.g2.com/categories/screen-and-video-capture) I’ve been exploring:

- [Zoom Workplace](https://www.g2.com/products/zoom-workplace/reviews): Heavily adopted for webinars and meetings, but does its recording stack up for enterprise training?
- [Camtasia](https://www.g2.com/products/camtasia/reviews): Strong editing capabilities. Have enterprise users found it reliable when rolling out across teams?
- [Vidcast](https://www.g2.com/products/vidcast/reviews): Built around async collaboration. Is it catching on for enterprise knowledge sharing?
- [Riverside](https://www.g2.com/products/riverside/reviews): Offers high-quality local recordings. Has anyone deployed it beyond podcasts, at enterprise scale?

For those working in enterprise environments:

- Which platform balanced usability with IT/security requirements?
- Was scalability (licenses, integrations, support) a deciding factor?
- Any pitfalls we should be aware of when rolling these out company-wide?

Thanks in advance.

I’ve also heard of [Scribe](https://www.g2.com/products/scribe/reviews) being adopted for process documentation in larger companies. Does anyone know if it complements video-heavy workflows at scale?

Answered: Harshita Tewari on September 28, 2025

On the scalability question, yes, licensing and user management become a big factor fast. A tool can look great in a pilot, then get much harder to manage once multiple departments, admins, and workflows are involved.

Answered: Hasitha Varre on April 16, 2026

For us, the usability vs. IT/security was a real trade-off. The easiest tools for end users are not always the ones the IT team is happiest with, especially when recordings include internal processes, customer information, or sensitive training content.

Answered: Krithika Sathyamoorthy on April 16, 2026

Riverside is very interesting. It helped us record each person locally and save separate tracks, so editing later is way less messy than with the usual tools. It's super for podcasts or interview-style content.

Answered: Rimzhim Dubey on April 25, 2026

Vidcast feels more natural for async knowledge sharing than formal enterprise training. If the goal is quick internal updates or lightweight documentation, it fits well. If the goal is standardized, polished content across teams, it may feel a bit lighter.
