Question on: Loom
[Is there a way to set my default to Screen Only so I don't have to change it at the beginning of each day?](/discussions/is-there-a-way-to-set-my-default-to-screen-only-so-i-don-t-have-to-change-it-at-the-beginning-of-each-day)

The Advanced Options give you the opportunity to customize your recording, here you can choose: Which Camera Source you would like your camera to be captured from (if you are recording a Screen & Cam or Cam Only video). Which Audio Source you would like your audio to be captured from (and if you're capturing your Current Tab, there's an option to add the Tab Audio in your recording). If you would like to see a Recording Countdown (3,2,1...) before your recording starts. Flip camera - great if you have text behind you so you don't display a mirror image. If you would like to hide the Control Menu in your recording.

Answered: Javier Silva on July 14, 2022

In most screen recording tools like Loom or Camtasia, you can usually save “Screen Only” as your default recording mode from the recording settings or preferences menu. If the app doesn’t persist the setting automatically, updating the default recording profile or disabling camera permissions for the app is often the quickest workaround.

[What is the best tool for recording webinars and tutorials?](/discussions/what-is-the-best-tool-for-recording-webinars-and-tutorials)

Hi G2 community, I’m looking for the best tool to record webinars and tutorials. The ideal platform should make it easy to capture both screen and audio, offer editing options, and produce a polished video that can be shared with audiences later.

Here are a few [screen and video capture tools](https://www.g2.com/categories/screen-and-video-capture) I’ve been considering:

- [Zoom Workplace](https://www.g2.com/products/zoom-workplace/reviews): Widely used for webinars with built-in recording features. Is it enough for producing tutorials, or better suited just for live sessions?
- [Camtasia](https://www.g2.com/products/camtasia/reviews): Known for professional-grade screen recording paired with editing. Do teams find the best balance between capture and post-production?
- [Snagit](https://www.g2.com/products/snagit/reviews): Great for quick screen captures and lightweight recordings. Is it powerful enough for long-form tutorials, or better for shorter guides?
- [Riverside](https://www.g2.com/products/riverside/reviews): Offers high-quality remote recording with separate audio/video tracks. Does it work well for structured tutorials, or mainly for podcasts and webinars?

For those who record often:

- Which platform has helped you create the most professional-looking tutorials?
- Do you prefer tools with built-in editing, or do you export recordings into another editor?
- Any lessons learned on storage, sharing, or keeping video quality high?

Thanks in advance!

I’ve also seen [Loom](https://www.g2.com/products/atlassian-loom/reviews) used for tutorial-style recordings, especially quick explainers. Curious if anyone has used it.

Answered: Harshita Tewari on April 17, 2026

For professional tutorials, we noticed that editing matters as much as recording. Tools without editing usually require a second step.

Answered: Soundarya Jayaraman on April 17, 2026

Zoom is great for webinars, but for tutorials it feels limited. You’ll almost always need another tool for editing if you want a polished result.

Answered: Shreesh Singh on April 17, 2026

For us, the biggest deciding factor was how easy it is to fix mistakes without having to re-record everything. Tools like Camtasia or Descript saved us a lot of time there compared to just relying on Zoom recordings.

Answered: Yashwathy Marudhachalam on April 17, 2026

Camtasia stands out because it combines recording and editing in one workflow. That makes it much easier to produce professional-looking tutorials without juggling multiple tools. It’s especially useful for structured content where you need annotations, zoom effects, and clean transitions.

Question on: Camtasia
[Is Camtasia easy to use?](/discussions/is-camtasia-easy-to-use)

Is Camtasia easy to use?

Obviously, if you have any video editing experience (DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, or other products), you will be able to navigate the program quite easily. But even if you have NO video editing experience, Camtasia offers so much free training with their software that you can be a seasoned pro in now time. I use Camtasia in addition to Premiere Pro when I make videos for my YouTube channel. I could not do what I need to do without Camtasia! Plus the more you use it the easier it becomes. Furthermore, Techsmith has some of the best customer service group just in case you do get stuck and either the free training or the online FAQs can't get you the answer you need.

Answered: Randy Milliron on January 17, 2023

Yes it is easy to use

Answered: Mohammad Yousuf Ali Ahmad on September 1, 2023

Yes, it's easy to use. I learned it myself without any training and without needing to consult the documentation much. However, it's quite feature rich and I'm still learning new things about it every so often. I think a deep dive training course might be helpful if one were available--at least for folks who want to get the most out of it. But even without training, I think most folks will pick up its basic features and functions pretty quickly.

Answered: John Trumble on July 22, 2022

Very. It is intuitive and we'll thought out. You can work on it as a complete beginner and even if you are a seasoned editor, you will find the ease of doing things pleasant.

Answered: PAUL OGIER on July 23, 2022

If you are new to video editing then you should spend a few hours going through the training videos. One part is learning how to use different software features. Another part is learning how to organize your project. The videos cover both. Once done, Camtasia is easy to use.

Answered: Scott Ship MSc MA CD on July 26, 2022

Generally, yes. You don't have to be a "whiz at computers" to figure it out but someone who is "computer illiterate" will likely struggle.
