Synthetixio is a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol that provides on-chain exposure to a wide variety of real-world and crypto assets. Built on the Ethereum blockchain, Synthetix allows users to create and trade synthetic assets, known as Synths, which track the value of underlying assets such as commodities, fiat currencies, and stocks. The platform employs a system of collateral-backed tokens and uses its native SNX token for governance and to provide liquidity.
