ZeroTier One has one of the best trial programs that I've seen. Set it up on a small scale and just use it for free without any restriction beyond the number of computers. Once you see how easy it is to network geographically disparate devices you'll be hooked. When you realize how low the cost is to scale, you'll be even happier.

The only part of the process that is "hard" is if you need to setup bridging so that that ZeroTier acts similar to a VPN. There are several guides out there, and the steps are pretty straightforward, but all assume passing familiarity with Linux.
