Apparently, they want to review their pricing models, and I know them to be open to negotiation, though. - As early adopters, we had to do multiple migrations due to fundamental overhauls of their product. However, with V3, I think that risk is minimized and updates should no longer be that fundamental. **What problems is Y42 solving and how is that benefiting you?** 1. Y42 enables easy integration of data from multiple sources into your data warehouse 2. There are some small issues you run into here and there. **What problems is Y42 solving and how is that benefiting you?** As an avid dbt user I enjoy the ease of data integration. Makes it very easy to follow data engineering best practices and I'm absolutely confident this will only get easier. When focusing on solely on transformations dbt is my favorite currently. The ease of data integration and incredible speed of their development team means I'd choose Y42 more often. ### 4. The new version came with great new features, like the possibility to use jinja, it helps us a lot in data manipulation. We are looking forward to testing the publish module with cube.dev. - Another point that I could not fail to comment on is the quality of the support offered, the support team is very agile and willing to help. **What do you dislike about Y42?** No dislikes at the moment. All the integrations we need are in the tool, the modeling is easy to use and the orchestration even easier. A possible improvement could be the creation of a module for reverse ETL, such as sending json to rudderstack. **What problems is Y42 solving and how is that benefiting you?** One of our biggest challenges that made us look for Y42 was the creation of a reliable and simple-to-use pipeline to identify the behavior of our customers, from capturing it on Google, Facebook or Rudderstack to mapping the consumption profile, creating metrics and developing a reverse ETL. ### 7. The customer support was great as well **What do you dislike about Y42?** The interface to create dashboard and to query data was daunting at first and sometimes unintuitive but after getting used to it, was easy to use. Also wished it supported more db services but I was told that is coming soon **What problems is Y42 solving and how is that benefiting you?** We want to have analytics - which include charts and tables and other resources - that are built upon multiple data sources. Getting raw data was never that easy and I can fully implement a highly efficient database without touching any line of code. Perfect to see the full data picture without hours of coding! **What do you dislike about Y42?** Visualisation is compared to other providers not good enough to really implement it in the daily business. **Recommendations to others considering Y42:** Just try it out and get convinced. **What problems is Y42 solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am able to solve basically all data issues. Connect to all data sources, modell the data in the background and orchestrate it in the most easy way. From there it is just a few clicks to work with an automated data flow. ### 12. It removes the barrier to build all the data pipelines, instead one can go directly into building models, with real business impact. And the great thing is that there are no limitations for imagination, even for team members who don't have that much experience with SQL or other data programming languages. **What do you dislike about Y42?** The only thing I would like to see added is being able to enter queries, which you enter into BigQuery, directly in Y42. Because at the moment there are a few functionalities which BigQuery offers, that aren't in Y42. Apart from that I have found nothing so far, which would discourage me from using it or recommending it. **What problems is Y42 solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have built loads of high performing dashboards for all parts of our enterprise, and were able to increase transparency and the overall availability of information from our CEO to interns. Furthermore we built an attribution model with Y42 which we leverage to build a Customer Prediction Platform, in order to spend smarter, increase our ROI and offer our customers the best experience possible. ### 13. Most previews are ready in less than 10 seconds. I was also able to build the above flow while traveling by train, using only my iPhone hotspot. Quality of Data: The Data I am getting for Facebook Ads is exactly what Facebook provides. So I can just use the Facebook documentation and also got access to a lot of information that Supermetrics e.g. does not provide. Although this information is not critical, it is quite nice. Really easy handling of JSON Objects: They even got an integrated JSON visualizer so you don’t need to copy and paste the Objects somewhere. Also there is a JSON flattening option for the Import and a really handy way of extracting and transforming Information from JSON Objects. **What do you dislike about Y42?** Since the software is being developed so fast, there are some minor bugs from time to time. However, none of those caused the data to be off, because most of them were only happening in the user interface. This makes y42 one of the most reliable tools that I have ever used in this area. **What problems is Y42 solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are using y42 to handle the Data of over one hundred sources. The probability of errors and failures happening in our processes of transforming and cleaning data is relatively high and there have been many issues with other tools we used for this task before. With y42, there were no system issues or bugs that stopped our pipelines from working. This is really the game-changer for us. ### 14. The tool connects with pretty much any data source you can think of, and even if something is missing, Y42 is keen to add new integrations. The onboarding process and ongoing support are also very satisfactory. **What do you dislike about Y42?** The visualizations feature doesn't offer as much as visualization-focused competitors, but Y42 is constantly improving it, so the limitations should disappear over time. **What problems is Y42 solving and how is that benefiting you?** Y42 allowed me to establish a proper data pipeline realitively easily and provide the business with reliable reporting. ### 15. I was constantly reliant on my data team for even the smallest changes creating lag time. We also have a variety of data pools from ERP’s to custom data lakes. I liked that we were able to get the data in y42 quickly. **What do you dislike about Y42?** I had to get used to the visualization style as I switched from Microsoft Power BI but after some time I am now getting used to it and it is OK. **Recommendations to others considering Y42:** The y42 team is very quick, knowledgeable about your business needs and will as part of the implementation offer you insights that by themselves are very valuable and that I did not expect to get for such as software solution, I consider it as a bonus for the organization. In short - they are very flexible and eager to do business which is helpful overall. **What problems is Y42 solving and how is that benefiting you?** Better Data-pipeline management. Easy to use reporting that was fast. Ongoing support from the y42 team. **What do you dislike about Y42?** I would like to see some dashboards that come preconfigured with the software rather than me working with the team to configure them. **What problems is Y42 solving and how is that benefiting you?** We uncovered a lot of opportunities after using y42 that not only improved the experience for customers but also reduced costs by finding spots of inefficiency. Some of the direct results that came that increased the LTV from the reports that came from y42 were: - Reducing costs in fulfillment and sourcing - Product streamlining by eliminating low satisfaction low ROI products - Adding more revenue streams with payment options, relevant products, cross sell opportunities based the reports provided by y42 I feel for many larger e-commerce companies, this maybe quite routine but as a scale up I was having a hard time finding these insights from Google Analytics and other tools I was using. Other tools seemed convoluted or limiting. y42 seemed to hit the sweet spot. ### 17. While simple use cases like financial reporting are okish in google-sheets, advanced use-cases like marketing attribution have been close to impossible for me to build with our existing tooling. After some google search, I found Datos and was able to convince my boss to start a PoC. By now, I'm able to automate most of my report work and add new use-cases at a much faster pace than before. I can integrate with all of our advertising tools and set-up proper Marketing Attribution reports. My boss has been very impressed so far! I must say that the development speed is impressive at Datos. I have been asked by the Datos team to write a review and I'm happy to do so - 5 out of 5 stars! **What do you dislike about Y42?** While the speed of development is impressive, smaller bugs creep in as a result of the fast release. With y42, my portfolio companies can deliver standardized investor reporting, which helps them internally to be much more data-driven as well. Most of my portfolio companies are in the range of 20-100 employees, and some of them don’t have the financial means to invest in a big data-engineering team to build out the data infrastructure. Y42 has been a true game-changer for these companies. **What do you dislike about Y42?** The product itself has many features, but documentation is still lacking in some areas. Datos has been recommended to us by a friend of the CEO. At first, I was quite skeptical that a company like Datos would be able to solve our issues. We have been working with our BI-stack for over a year by now. Before using Datos, we spend roughly 100k on various tools in our pipeline ranging from ETL tools such as Fivetran to Domo. It became very hard to manage as our team grew and we felt that stitching together so many tools was not scalable. With Datos, we have been able to reduce the amount of tooling drastically. I cannot be more happy to switch to Datos as it saves us a lot of money and it is much more manageable with one tool than 5+ tools before. The best part about Datos is the modelling layer. It allows our entire team to work transparent and everybody can understand the data transformation rather quickly. I really can recommend Datos fully if you want a state-of-the-art Business Intelligence set-up. **What do you dislike about Y42?** 2 integrations that we need have been missing when we started.
