## WatchGuard AuthPoint Reviews
  ### 1. Authpoint brings Multi-Factor Authentication to the next level

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2021

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

Authpoint brings Multi-Factor Authentication to the next level. Besides the traditional tokens that work offline, Autpoint also offers online tokens that add extra security to the system. Authpoint also monitors the devices where the tokes are stored, in order to detect attempts of cloning the whole device to a new device. Users can migrate the token on their own to new devices when needed. When the user initiates this process, then the token is practically deleted from the old device and reinitiates the initial process of token installation via email.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

Would like to have the ability to set an expiration period for the passwords (e.g. 90 days) after which the users would have to set a new password. It would also be great to have the ability to set the complexity requirements for these password to be complex and to be able to increase the required complexity.

**Recommendations to others considering WatchGuard AuthPoint:**

Authpoint MFA is the best solution we could find out there. They can still improve some things, but the product is still young and will grow to be better. Given time it will become an excellent solution.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We mainly use Authpoint MFA to allow remote users to connect to our internal network, using the Watchguard SSL VPN clients. The use of Authpoint MFA and its increased security has allowed us to provide access to most of the company resources to remote users, compared to our old solution, where we had to restrict access to VPN users to the essential resources! So especially in these trying times of the pandemic, Authpoint MFA made the whole concept of working from home possible! With our old solution, we would have to take a significant risk and expose sensitive resources, with being able to protect them adequately.

  ### 2. Robust O365 Integration and Hardware Tokens, but Support Requires an MSP

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul L. | IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2026

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

Watchguard integrates well with O365 and our firewall, and it’s one of the few vendors that still offers hardware tokens, which was important for us. Authpoint licences are well priced, and once implemented, it’s been robust and reliable.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

Getting support with WatchGuard requires you to go through an MSP in order to resolve technical issues, which makes it harder to get direct help when something comes up.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use WatchGuard AuthPoint for our MFA, and it’s essential for meeting our certification requirements. It helps us stay compliant by ensuring we have the multi-factor authentication controls we need in place.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan S. | IT Security Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2023

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

it is an excellent MFA solution to integrate with our firewalls, it integrates very well with the active directory, and it allows the creation of groups and policies. It is a very good MFA option.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

I think one of the factors that I don't like is that it doesn't integrate with native firebox users, only with active directory users, which makes it difficult for firebox users used for mobile VPN connections.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With the implementation of this tool, we were able to add a higher level of security to mobile VPN connections, which allows us to confirm the identity of the user through a token or confirmation message for the approval of the remote connection.

  ### 5. Great control, and friendly for users

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

A very simple, easy-to-use and intuitive tool, it allows me to have managed and administered access to the servers and thus be able to register in an audit. Very recomended

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

When logging in with your username correctly, it appears very discreetly that the push has been sent, and there are times when you don't realize or it doesn't give you feedback that you have entered the password correctly and that you look at the device. A more visual notice would be nice.

**Recommendations to others considering WatchGuard AuthPoint:**

Do not forget the device to confirm the push

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

We really should think that SMS support should be added in the app.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2022

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

We were already utilizing WatchGuard firewalls in our organization, so implementing AuthPoint for our remote (VPN) users was extremely simple. I was also impressed with the cost associated per user. The platform is also easily scalable as we have added more firewalls to our infrastructure and had multifactor authentication enabled within 15 minutes.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

The instructions for setting up RADIUS authentication was a little confusing at first, but after I opened a support case with WatchGuard, they were able to remote into my environment and get the issue sorted out quickly.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had to incorporate Multifactor Authentication for our remote users to comply with our cyber-security insurance. Not only does this make us in compliance, but our network is now more secure by having MFA.

  ### 15. Does what we expected in a convenient way

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

Simple for the users. Effective at doing what it should. Ultimately that's the real test of any system and this passes.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

The install was clunky. Following the website install procedure to the letter failed every time. When I finally got time with an engineer, he walked me through it with ease, but I shouldn't have had to wait 2 days to get on his call list. Update your install instructions and that all goes away.

**Recommendations to others considering WatchGuard AuthPoint:**

Don't even start the install until you've got tech support on the line.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to make sure no unauthorized people are getting into our system when they shouldn't be. It does seem to lock down after too many incorrect trials which is good. This lets us know who needs the most education and training.

  ### 16. The product is great, however the distribution channel has been a bit suspect lately.

  ### 18. Technical Support Officer for SCS Technology Solutions on WatchGuard Authpoint

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2022

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

Easily the variety of ways to authenticate, my personal favorite being push notifications. This alleviates the problem with having to type a six-digit code every time you wish to log in instead approve the login.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

The only downside for me for Authpoint is not from a user perspective as I believe everything is great on a user side, but instead comes as a reseller purchasing it is a slow process and usually takes around 24 hours which seems a little behind the curve in this day and age.

**Recommendations to others considering WatchGuard AuthPoint:**

In my opinion, it is the best multi-factor authentication out there. The ease of use is very high due to its multiple ways to authenticate, and management through WatchGuard cloud is straightforward.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hardening our security for SCS and our customers is invaluable; whether that's protecting Office 365 or VPNs, we know our Authpoint users are doing everything they can to protect all of their cyber entry points into their network.

  ### 19. Watch Guard AuthPoint Multi-Factor Authentication Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jose R. | IT Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2021

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

The best feature of using authpoint multi-factor authentication is that it's built into the firewall. I don't have to be a third-party product to have MFA at my site.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

There is not much I dislike about it except maybe the pricing per license, but even then, I still think it's a good deal. I think the one improvement I would like to see is the pricing.

**Recommendations to others considering WatchGuard AuthPoint:**

If you are already using a Watchguard firewall, it's a no-brainer to use Authpoint Multi-Factor authentication with your setup.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Well, Authpoint Multi-Factor Authentication has helped solve the issue of remote users connecting remotely to the office securely and efficiently. The benefits have only been amplified now during the pandemic as we have many more users working remotely. I'm guaranteed to have my users connect in a secure way to our office resources.

  ### 20. Watchguard Authpoint makes 2-Factor Authentication easy

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Practice | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2021

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

We hear about hacks and network vulnerabilities every day in the news, and every business is a potential target. With Watchguard AuthPoint, I can rest assured that my home users can connect to my network in an easy and secure way.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

The only downside to using Watchguard AuthPoint is that the documentation is written in a confusing way. I struggled at first and finally had to open a support ticket with Watchguard to complete the installation. Once it's installed, it's a piece of cake to administrate and roll out to our staff, but getting there was an issue.

**Recommendations to others considering WatchGuard AuthPoint:**

AuthPoint is a great service if you're looking for multi-factor authentication for users working at home. A lot of moving parts that you need to get just right at the beginning, but once it's set up it becomes a breeze to use.
Watchguard Support will probably need to be involved during the setup.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The issue we needed to solve is that we have many users working from home now - especially since Covid - and we needed to find a secure and easy way to add Multi-Factor to our VPN authentication. AuthPoint is an economical and easy way to do that.

  ### 21. Best Way to Add another Layer of Security to Our Computer Network

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charles M. | BDC Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2022

Ease of use and the support provided during setup

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

Listening to coworkers complain about having to take an extra step to access their devices.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping us meet the demands of Compliance in the Automotive Industry

  ### 22. AuthPoint for VPN and Desktop MFA

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2022

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

I love that AuthPoint was so easy to integrate into Active Directory. It allows us to lock down user accounts for workstations and servers without unncessary maintenance.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

The Windows client likes to send unneccesary pushes, like when a user wakes up their computers by pushing enter. Sometimes the pushes do not come through in a timely manner, at least to Android.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to verify and restrict users from connecting to our PCs.

  ### 23. Easy and Secure to Use!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel V. | Infrastructure Services Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2022

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

Authpoint is super easy to use and very secure, there is almost no wait time to ge the push notification to work. We used in our computers and VPN connections.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

Nothing at the moment, maybe the lack of Exchange Online/OnPrem support.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Security issues are a "normal" problem today and with Authpoint the lack of password complexity is gone and the end user is still secure.

  ### 24. Great MFA app

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samuel B. | Assitant IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2021

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

Some recent audits forced our company to implement 2FA. We currently use Watchguard Firewalls for our network protection. Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication using the Watch guard app was a breeze. One of the things I found remarkable is that the pricing structure is affordable for the company's size. We currently have a handful of individuals that access our system through a VPN tunnel, so Authpoint allowed us to integrate 2FA on that VPN seamlessly.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

Currently, I don't have anything that I dislike about the app. It just works. We haven't experienced any problems with the software. The minute you try and connect to the VPN, your phone receives a notification that you have to approve before it allows you to log in.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AuthPoint Multi-Factor Authentication allowed our company to add 2FA for all the users that log into our network via our secure VPN. AuthPoint Multi-Factor Authentication will enable us to be more confident that our VPN is secure.

  ### 25. authpoint review

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

for us it was very important to secure our vpn access during smart working

  ### 26. AuthPoint

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew R. | System Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2022

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

I like how it works across different platforms. I can use it with more than just WatchGuard, and it is easy to use.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

The setup process takes a little bit to set up. Once I was able to setup the system then it was a little easier to manage.

**Recommendations to others considering WatchGuard AuthPoint:**

Make sure you do training because some users have problems.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We went with Authpoint because we needed a 2FA set up in the environment.

  ### 27. Complaints daily on speed of push messages to app.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2022

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

Easy to set up initially. Group sync made it easy to add ldap groups to the cloud easily

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

Slow push notifications. Issues with permissions randomly where push stops working on ios and android.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

VPN 2factor is our main focus. We have used it for other forms. It works better when used by other applications than via SSL VPN.

  ### 28. Easy to Use Multifactor Authentication System

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2021

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

I like the fact that the software is incredibly easy to use for the users. The software deploys a pop-up on their mobile device, asking if they are trying to connect to the VPN, and they simply click Yes. Very nice, simple solution.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

I understand that the system has multiple levels of security involved, but I dislike the fact that the user has a single token, meaning that they can only have a single mobile device, so if they lose their phone, forget it at home, or it gets damaged, we (in IT) have to delete the old token and issue them a new one, making their connection process slower.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I initially looked at AuthPoint, I thought it was going to be similar to other vendors' products, in that it would be sending them a 6 or 7 digit code. I was pleasantly surprised when I found that it's just sending them a confirmation request.

  ### 29. Keep hackers at bay with Authpoint 2FA

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lauren G. | VP of Purchasing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2021

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

The push notifications are easy to use since my phone is always on my desk. It has become a normal part of my work routine. I login to my pc first thing in the morning, then connect to my vpn using the credentials, grab my phone and click approve. It is that easy! It makes me feel protected and safe while working from home and accessing the office network.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

I don't have many downsides to using this product really. Users can easily forget their passwords and then are not able to login. But you can reset the password fairly quickly to resolve the issue. If you are charging your phone or find you have left it in another room, then you quickly remember when you cant login to the vpn client. That is also an easy problem to correct. Overall this is a great product.

**Recommendations to others considering WatchGuard AuthPoint:**

Two factor authenication is a must in today's environment. It is a cost-effective way to keep your organization safe. It also gives the business owner peace of mind for employees accessing the network during and outside of working hours. Easy to setup and configure the software for use.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps our organization stay secure by eliminating outside RDP connections to the internal network. Before implementing the Authpoint our network was being pounded with outside remote desktop protocol attempts from Russia, North Korea, etc. Great for remote workers to stay secure at home!

  ### 30. Good, Secure Authenticator App

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John H. | IT Technician, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2021

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

I like that it keeps all of my accounts secure within one simple app. It gives me a huge confidence boost knowing that i can confidently use applications and websites and know that they cannot be compromised due to having a very secure and trustworthy multi factor Authenticator app.
The app itself is very easy to use and you can add account security by simply scanning a QR code when setting up multi factor authentication on a new application or website.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

Unfortunately Authpoint is not a free application to use. It requires a user to be setup on a watchguard cloud account and a Token assigned. This therefore means that the application can only be activated and used if a company has a WatchGuard firebox, WatchGuard cloud subscription and then have the company set you up an active user. You must have an active WatchGuard cloud subscription to use this - Google Authenticator is just as good as a free alternative.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I know that even if my passwords were ever compromised, I have the safety of my multi-factor authentication as a second line of defence to stop people from accessing my accounts. We as a company have gained the trust of many of our customers. They are now using Authpoint, giving them the confidence that they are safe on the internet. Authpoint is also the only way of setting up multi-factor authentication security for the WatchGuard VPN Client. This alone gives a company security that noone can externally access the companies internal network without having the WatchGuard SSL Client with an active Authpoint user, which then sends a push notification that must be approved on a bobile device within Authpoint to gain external VPN access.

  ### 31. AuthPoint works well, is pretty easy to setup and is great for securing VPN.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stu M. | IT Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2021

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

It is a convenient way to secure Watchguard SSL VPN. It is quite easy to use and stable. The app on Android works really well and was easy to migrate when I got a new phone. From the admin point of view, it was pretty easy to setup on Watchguard Cloud and on the Watchguard Firebox.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

The extra costs that are associated with the product are a bit high for charities or small businesses with low income. Besides that, it has been a good product and would recommend it to others.

**Recommendations to others considering WatchGuard AuthPoint:**

Every organisation and IT system should have multi factor authentication available and in use, so AuthPoint Multi-Factor Authentication is a good product by Watchguard to fulfil that need.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main reason we use AuthPoint is the need for extra security when users are connecting from home or other networks. Authpoint helps incease the security of users that login. If a user's password is leaked or breached, then having the extra protection of multi factor authentication is very important.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2021

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

The end-user enrollment process is easy and intuitive and the direct authentication integration for VPN's running on Watchguard Firewalls is nice. It's a decent product for securing VPNs.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

The Windows Logon application is too much of a black-box with no real logging or information about what's going on.
The RDS Gateway and Connection Broker roles do not have any actual integration, so utilizing RDS gateway means installing the logon app on each session host you want to protect and locking down your CAP and RAP policies. The Logon application can't properly determine the source address of multiple sessions so any network-based policies do not work reliably - support confirmed that this is a known issue in development.
We experienced multiple instances where the logon application just plain failed. There is no logging from the logon application, just the gateway service which the logon application could not contact. I had 40+ users unable to connect to an RDS environment and support didn't have a real answer as to why it failed. The first time it happened they asked me to uninstall and reinstall the service.
I low confidence in the reliability of the logon application at this point.

**Recommendations to others considering WatchGuard AuthPoint:**

Look at Duo or another more mature product.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Securing external access.

**Reviewed by:** Cesar S. | Security Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

When Authpoint does not send e-mail to activate token for my users and need to send manually.
Have a lot delay in sending push notifications to approve access.
Logon App does not work with hardening applied on my network computers.
Authpoint doesn't support SMS to send tokens, and doesn't support other SMS providers.
By the way... this tool is trash, in my opinion.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2021

**What do you like best about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

The app is clear, lite and straightforward to use. Transferring tokens is a breeze, and the new ability to add third-party tokens made it so much more enticing to use.

**What do you dislike about WatchGuard AuthPoint?**

Mine are very minor gripes to have with the app.
The red bar indicating the time leftover for the OTP token.
Many users have called panicked at seeing a red bar progressing. Despite red being Watchguards colour, I can't but think a more neutral colour might've been better
not being able to link my microsoft account to it.
Not being able to organize the tokens how i see fit (let me organize them in folders, maybe even protecting them with different types of security measures, sms, OTP, fingerprint ecc...)
not being able to Customize the layout of the app.

**Recommendations to others considering WatchGuard AuthPoint:**

Use the custom names and icons to differentiate between the tokens you'll have to use.

**What problems is WatchGuard AuthPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It integrates really well with our firewall system.
It alows me to uinite all my security tokens in one app,
We've deployed the app to over 300 users and other than the first time to show how to use it and to explain that, no, the Red bar isn't something to fear, it's working great.

Authpoint gateway ( for RADIUS authentication requests ) compatibility with Java/AWS corretto.
