Virtru seems to be well-known and trusted as a secure sharing solution in my field (medical billing). From time to time, I receive e-mails secured by Virtru from clients and other colleagues, so I trust it when I need to share something securely. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Long story short: the two times I needed Virtru, I was not able to use it and asked a colleague to do it for me as if I was incompetent.

Virtru usability is confusing to me and not at all new user friendly. When I go to Virtru, I want to share something. But as soon as I log in, I'm facing "My Data", "Settings", "User", "Admin" screens, none of them help me do what I need to: share things. I have to remember to go to the bottom of the screen looking for "Products > Share", even after the LOG OUT feature (whaat?). Once I hit the "Secure Share", I'm asked AGAIN to sign in.

After making my way to secure share, it's time to share. My first experience: Could not share. Why? As a new user, sending sensitive data, I wanted to make sure how my e-mail would be received by the user, and if I was doing it the right way. So I sent it to myself to check, and everything was working. Then I created the same thing again, this time adding all recipients, but I could not share it because I hit my limit for the day (one email). Result: I asked a colleague to do it for me, as I was incapable of doing it. Virtru did a terrible job informing me beforehand of this, and even worse when trying to submit, because it says: YOUR CONTENT WAS SUCCESSFULLY SENT, even when not delivering the messages.

The other case I have is: Knowing I have just one e-mail to use, I just wrote it and add the 4 subjects right away. When trying to send, Virtru said: limit of subjects above limit. Then I tried again with 3, with 2 and could not send. When I reached 1, Virtru said: you have reached the limit of messages today. WHAT? SERIOUSLY? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that it's pretty streamlined to send the file quickly, especially with the Chrome extension for Gmail. That's especially a nice touch. The integration with Gmail makes it so simple to compose a new message in a way that I'm already familiar with and can easily do quickly. And then just with a simple checkbox, I can make it an encrypted message using Virtru. For me, it's really quick. I like that I can send messages with Virtru Secure Share and they are locked for student info, which makes it secure when handling student-specific data. I don't like having to log into the platform to read every email, it is annoying. I'd like it if somehow personal laptops could automatically log in, so when I click unlock email it just appears rather than having to type in my email and password. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

From a provider standpoint, I dislike the UI/UX aspects of Secure Share. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to tell when I have unread messages, and messages also occasionally duplicate themselves. I appreciate Virtru Secure Share for its security and traceability, allowing me to control who has access, who can download, revoke access, and see when and how things were accessed. I don't like the inability to blind copy people when sending files. We send to large groups of people and don't need them to see that others are accessing the files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that I can control the expiration date of any files I share with a recipients. That feature is very useful when I want to share a file that contains sensitive information and requires limited access. For example, sharing a doc that has payment details can be shared quickly and its great to know after 1min or 5 min, access to the file will lock. I also love that I can easily access Virtu on Zendesk! It's very easy to use Virtu and understand what is happening in each step. Sometimes there is a loop after setting an expiration date. Which causes me to restart the sharing process. Other times, there is a slight delay in the file appearing in my Zendesk Comms view after I click "Submit" in the Virtu ZD app/plugin. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I truly appreciate the ease of setting up Virtru Secure Share. The installation process was straightforward and simple, which was a great relief. Any time I had questions, the customer support team was quick to respond with accurate, helpful information, making the experience markedly smooth and stress-free. I find the unique features of Virtru particularly beneficial, especially the ability to set expiration dates on emails and attachments and to withdraw permissions from documents already sent. These functionalities are unmatched by other providers we've considered. Additionally, Virtru has significantly enhanced our ability to send secure, confidential information over email without the cumbersome process of sending separate emails for passwords and documents. The encryption ensures that sensitive data such as Social Security numbers and dates of birth remain protected, streamlining our operations and saving me significant time each day. Additionally, there isn't a particular feature that stands out to me, and I'm not highly compelled to purchase it again, rating my likelihood to recommend it to others at a five out of ten.
