## Vetstar Reviews
  ### 1. Convenient, helpful and thorough

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lorraine S. | Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2020

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

Gurpreet Kaur
Veterinarian, DVM was very helpful and thorough and was able to view my dog's vulva using the webcam to address the UTI. I was impressed that she reviewed ALL of the history and called in the medicine to treat this condition to my local pharmacy. In addition to this she provided me with recommendations for primary vet follow up as well as some helpful info about dietary supplements that could aid with preventative OBGYN canine health. It felt very comfortable and so did my dog Gracie.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

I feel awkward when using a webcam but Dr. Kaur made me feel very comfortable anyway

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

UTI in canine; benefits of availability of provider

  ### 2. Vetstar is something nobody should live without. I highly recommend it.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emma G. | Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2020

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

Vetstar has made it so much easier for histories to be reviewed. Thanks to Vetstar's 24/7 live support, there has never been a problem that couldn't be solved. The support their team always gives is incredible.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

The single thing that Vetstar could improve is making it a bit easier to access certain records.

**Recommendations to others considering Vetstar:**

Try Vetstar! You will not regret it. Vetstar has changed the lives of so many people. Instead of wasting time gathering histories, they are at the tip of your fingers at all times.

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Overall, Vetstar has been incredibly beneficial. Vetstar makes reviewing histories significantly easier. The only problem I have noticed while analyzing Vetstar is that it is sometimes difficult to view records as they are composed into individual files.

  ### 3. Vetstar Review

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Veterinary | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2020

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

I like that the font type is easy to read.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

There are a lot of things that I do not like about this program. It is very difficult to open the program, to access patient information, and the program will crash if you try to do more than one thing at once. If you type too quickly, the program lags behind. It is very difficult to be productive and efficient with this program.

**Recommendations to others considering Vetstar:**

This is a very difficult program to use, and I really don't recommend it to anyone. My colleagues and I have all had a very difficult time using it and in addition, I can't even log into the program as of right now.

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am writing patient SOAPs and discharge information amongst other things, but I see no benefit thus far in using this program. It is a very difficult program to use and it is not efficient at all.

  ### 4. Not intuitive for a university hospital

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

It can be utilized across a large number of people and be accessed from anywhere as long as connected to a secure server.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

The software itself is not intuitive. It is difficult for students and temporary staff to pick up on and implement. There is an excessive amount of codes to get to different pages and records. You can not easily search for previous procedures. You can not easily search for species or breeds. You can not have multiple people logged on to the same form. I have had several experiences in which I have become locked out of a record and unable to discharge a patient because it went into a standby mode. It is very slow at loading and often logs out or reboots without saving work, resulting in lost text.

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vetstar has historically been the software used at my university hospital and thus has all the records that have ever been recorded in a technological system.

  ### 5. VetStar aka DeathStar

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Veterinary | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

VetStar can be a very integrated program allowing all of a patient's diagnostics, appointments and history in the same EMR screen
It is also helpful to have versions option in case you delete something or it doesn't get saved.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

VetStar is NOT very user friendly. You cannot really navigate intuitively with clicks you have to know the command codes
VetStar also makes it difficult as it doesn't allow us to use outside command keys (like Ctl B to bold texts or Ctl C/Ctl V to copy and paste). Furthermore, the fact that if you do copy and paste from outside documents the formatting only partially paste with it and then it is even more difficult as you have to format bit by bit rather than all at once.

**Recommendations to others considering Vetstar:**

Learn the command codes ASAP. It will make navigating the software much easier.

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I often write up my documents in Microsoft Word and then copy paste it to VetStar where the font and paragraph formatting often doesn't copy completely, which makes writing up EMRs take longer.

  ### 6. Not very user friendly and unreliable

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carrie C. | Small Animal Internal Medicine Resident, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

As a house officer, I appreciated the fact that you would get a notification whenever new blood work or lab results were back.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

It is very difficult to search for patients in the system, when you use a last name to search, the majority of the time the program freezes and you get the "red lightening bolt" of death. Additionally, the program crashing constantly, and most of the time, when it does, you lose all the paperwork you were working on.

**Recommendations to others considering Vetstar:**

I would frequently save your work as the system is known to crash intermittently. Also, if you lose your work, I recommend searching "versions" in the command line as you may be able to retrieve your lost discharge instructions.

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to keep records of my patients. I do like that you can email discharges to owners and referring DVMS through the program.

  ### 7. Slightly outdated system with non-intuitive commands

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Veterinary | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

Once on a patient, the majority of the information is readily accessible. All patient medical records can be accessed from 1 screen, though each individual document has to be opened.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

The commands and shortcuts are not intuitive and take a substantial amount of time to learn. You cannot display dual windows, making charting more difficult. The program frequently glitches, with documents openig without displaying any of the contents or erasing saved files, which then do no appear in the versions history.

**Recommendations to others considering Vetstar:**

None

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Vetstar for reviewing and writing patient charts. Having all medical records in 1 location has made reviewing histories easier, however it would be much easier if the records could be viewed as a single file as opposed to indivual files.

  ### 8. Unreliable and slow

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Veterinary | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

I do like that the layout makes it fairly easy to find different things, and you can search by various information about a patient.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

I have had multiple discharges that I was working on that were deleted randomly, even after hitting save multiple times. Vetstar is also extremely slow and tends to freeze quite often.

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I now have to type all of my paperwork (discharges and case transfers) in an outside source like notepad or word before copying and pasting into Vet Star so I don't risk losing it. I also battle with the formating of the pasted words every time.

  ### 9. Vetstar Review

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Veterinary | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

I'm not sure what there is to like. It is extremely difficult to use.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

The random acronyms that you have to remember to go from one screen to another. There is nothing easy about this program. It takes days/weeks to learn and is very outdated.

**Recommendations to others considering Vetstar:**

Do not purchase. Please use another software to save yourself hours of headaches and future disappointment.

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is nice to pool all of our records in a single system but other products will do this exact same thing without the hassle of crashing or learning difficult wordings.

  ### 10. Student of Veterinary Medicine

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Briana S. | Student Ambassador, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

I like that the service can be accessed away from the clinic.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

VetStar is very slow and difficult to navigate. Nothing about it is user friendly.

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefit is that you can access it almost anywhere. It is incredibly slow, constantly deletes medical records, difficult to navigate.

  ### 11. Vet Star is mediocre.

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Veterinary | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

I like that we can have templates available to fill in our discharges.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

So much. Not user friendly. The font will frequently change sizes for no good reason. You can't copy and paste easily. It will often randomly erase your discharge and you lose everything. You can only have two vet stars open at a time. It's pretty slow. Constantly crashes. I wish we could stay logged on for longer time without having to log back in again every time it closes (same computer). Also, you ask for a screenshot, but because I have to log on through DINO on my computer to access vetstar, my screenshot function doesn't work.

**Recommendations to others considering Vetstar:**

Don't

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vet star doesn't solve problems, it creates them.

  ### 12. Outdated and slow

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Veterinary | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

I like that it is a very basic program.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

It is incredibly outdated, hard to navigate, slow system that cannot compete with other systems.

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The fact that commands have to be entered and you cannot easily navigate from one screen to the next is terrible. It looks like the program hasnt been updated since it was created

  ### 13. Pretty meh

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kara H. | Student, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

It keeps all medical records in one place.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

It tends to be slow and sometimes you're at risk of losing your work if it's feeling temperamental that day. It's also difficult to navigate when you're first learning how to use it.

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vetstar is the record keeping system of the teaching hospital. It's beneficial to be able to have all of their records in one place.

  ### 14. Hot Garbage

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sophia P. | Student, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

I only use vetstar because I have to. It is secure and ensures legal documentation.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

It is slow, the commands are not intuitive, the forms to enter anything are tedious, it is unreliable in saving documents, images are difficult to find, the typing interface is terrible.

**Recommendations to others considering Vetstar:**

Just don't. Choose AviMark instead

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vetstar doesn't solve problems, it makes them.

  ### 15. Difficulty in record management

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Veterinary | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

I like that multiple pets are kept under the same account making it easier to find them.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

The keystrokes are horrible. If you type in one think wrong You are unable to do much of anything if it malfunctions and freezes.

**Recommendations to others considering Vetstar:**

You need to spend a lot of time with the program to be able to troubleshoot.

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefits are having a centralized area for lab work.

  ### 16. Not user friendly at all

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Veterinary | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

It works ok generally. Search function is easy enough.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

It gets stuck a lot. Not a pretty look, looks like from the 80s. Can’t open discharge from two users at the same time which gets annoying. Really hard to learn. Not intuitive. Signing in is hard even.

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Charging clients, writing discharges. Discharge templates and signatures are nice.

  ### 17. Honest review of vet star

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Veterinary | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Vetstar?**

I like the ease of use. It is easy to find patients.

**What do you dislike about Vetstar?**

That it can be hard to find what you are looking for.

**What problems is Vetstar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to have all the information for a patient available in one place.
