"Vectorworks Landmark: Powerful Landscape Design with Seamless 2D/3D and Planting Tools"
What do you like best about Vectorworks Landmark?

Vectorworks Landmark has become one of my favorite tools for landscape design and planning. What I appreciate most about the program is how well it blends creative design freedom with practical, real-world functionality. It allows me to move smoothly from conceptual layouts to detailed construction drawings without needing to jump between multiple programs.

The plant database and planting tools are a huge advantage. They make it easy to create detailed, accurate planting plans while keeping schedules and quantities organized automatically. I also really value the grading, site modeling, and hardscape tools — they help visualize complex outdoor spaces clearly and allow for precise adjustments throughout the design process.

Another thing I love about Vectorworks Landmark is the ability to produce professional-quality visuals directly from the model. Whether I’m presenting to clients or coordinating with contractors, the 2D and 3D integration helps communicate ideas in a way that’s both clear and visually engaging.

Like any powerful software, there is a learning curve, but once you get comfortable with the workflow, it becomes an incredibly efficient and flexible platform. Overall, Vectorworks Landmark has significantly improved both my design process and the quality of the plans I deliver. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vectorworks Landmark?

While Vectorworks Landmark is a very powerful design platform, there are a few areas where I think it could improve. One of the biggest challenges is the learning curve. The software has a lot of depth, which is great long-term, but it can feel overwhelming at first — especially when trying to understand the workflow between 2D drafting, site modeling, and plant tools.

Performance can also be an issue at times, particularly with larger files or detailed 3D models. As projects grow in size and complexity, I’ve noticed the program can slow down, which can interrupt the design flow.

Another area that could be improved is the interface and menu organization. Some tools feel buried or inconsistent, and it can take extra clicks to find common commands. Streamlining the user experience would make everyday tasks faster and more intuitive.

Lastly, while the plant and landscape-specific tools are extremely useful, certain automated features still require manual adjustments to get construction-ready results. It’s not a deal breaker, but it does add extra time to the documentation process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Seamless 2D/3D Integration, Effortless File Management"
What do you like best about Vectorworks Landmark?

I really appreciate how integrated the program is. Being able to directly port to Lumion and D5 allows for seamless workflows. Additionally, I appreciate the landform modeling tools that make it simple to model the earth that our design sits on and use those grades to our advantage. Vectorworks Landmark is great for modeling, and with the integration into programs like D5 and Lumion, the ability to render our work makes selling the project so much easier. The initial setup was very easy with prior experience, and the onboarding team helped a lot. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vectorworks Landmark?

I think expanding the Resource Manager to include more branded products that get used very often like Blaze brand grills and cabinets and Pergolux pergolas. As well as possibly making the UI of the Resource Manager better for finding these models and previewing them before loading them into the model. Making the previews bigger and easier to see/understand and grouping the product in ways that don't overstimulate the user. I find myself using the search bar more often than not and if I do not search the right things it limits the amount of product I see. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Elena Pantazopoulos of Vectorworks Landmark

Thank you for sharing such a detailed review. It’s great to hear that Vectorworks Landmark’s integrated 2D/3D workflows, landform modeling tools, and connections to tools like Lumion and D5 are helping you design, manage files efficiently, and present projects more effectively. We also hear your suggestions about expanding and refining the Resource Manager, including more commonly used branded products and improving how content is organized and previewed, and we appreciate you highlighting these ideas for future improvements.

"Intuitive Design Tool with Powerful Features"
What do you like best about Vectorworks Landmark?

I really like that Vectorworks Landmark is easy to use, though sometimes there are multiple ways to do the same thing, which can be a bit confusing. One feature I find really useful is how you can perform calibrations like length or level adjustments, where if you input figures like 100 plus 200, it automatically knows to make it 300. This is especially handy when working on steps, levels, and extrusions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vectorworks Landmark?

I think there's sometimes too many different ways to do the same thing, which can be a bit confusing. There's so much to it that sometimes it feels like only scratching the surface, even though I consider myself quite proficient. When modelling sloping gardens it doesn't work brilliantly. You can end up with areas which don't meet and this looks really untidy and unprofessional. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Elena Pantazopoulos of Vectorworks Landmark

Thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback. It’s great to hear that Vectorworks Landmark supports your workflow. We hear your comments about overlapping methods and the challenges of modeling sloping gardens, and we appreciate you highlighting where the experience could feel clearer and more polished. "Great for Landscape Design, Needs Stability Improvements"
What do you like best about Vectorworks Landmark?

I find the parametric/BIM tools in Vectorworks Landmark really useful, especially how they allow different elements to interact, like controlling plants, graphics, and soil volume with one object while conforming to the site's grade. I also appreciate how easy 2D drafting is, particularly with features like curve drafting and boolean commands such as add or clip surface, which feel like a significant upgrade over AutoCAD's 2D drafting methods. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vectorworks Landmark?

It drives me crazy how updates constantly are breaking other things, and the focus seems to be on A.I./new tools and not fixing/refining existing tools. Text formatting is also far behind the rest of the program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Elena Pantazopoulos of Vectorworks Landmark

Thank you for sharing such detailed feedback. It’s great to hear that the parametric/BIM tools and 2D drafting capabilities in Vectorworks Landmark are supporting your landscape work and collaboration with architects. We also hear your concerns about update stability, the balance between new features and refinements, and text formatting, and we appreciate you calling out these areas where the experience can be improved.

"Effortless Design, Needs User-Friendly 3D Tools"
What do you like best about Vectorworks Landmark?

I use Vectorworks Landmark for landscape architecture designs and appreciate the ability to create plans that can easily switch between illustrative and construction drawings. I like the ease of changing classes to achieve the intended graphic quality using hatches, fills, and line types. Additionally, it saves time by allowing me to produce illustrative drawings in the same software as the CAD linework, rather than importing linework into another software like Photoshop. The initial setup was very easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vectorworks Landmark?

I find the 3D tools in Vectorworks Landmark not as user-friendly as I'd like. It's straightforward to do simple tasks like extruding a shape, but editing those shapes afterward is really challenging. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Elena Pantazopoulos of Vectorworks Landmark

Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s great to hear that Vectorworks Landmark helps you efficiently move between illustrative and construction drawings in one place. Your feedback about 3D editing provides a valuable perspective and helps inform our ongoing efforts to enhance usability.

What do you dislike about Vectorworks Landmark?

I wish the "settings" tab in the plant symbols would disappear, as it is an additional checkpoint and unessesary Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Game changer for Landscape Design"
What do you like best about Vectorworks Landmark?

I'm really loving Vectorworks Landmark for landscape design the 2D and 3D integration is seamless and makes my workflow so much smoother. The automatic scheduling feature is a game-changer, saving me tons of time and hassle. Plus, the designs look amazing! Sure, it takes some getting used to, but the support team's got my back. Overall, it's a total win for creating stunning landscapes! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vectorworks Landmark?

Honestly, I've found Vectorworks Landmark has a few areas that could use some improvement. For me, the learning curve is pretty steep, and I've had some issues with 3D modeling and compatibility. The cost is also a bit high, and sometimes the program crashes or certain tools feel limited. I've also noticed the plant database could be more comprehensive, and it's not the most casual-user friendly. Occasionally, I've had to wait a bit for customer support to get back to me, but overall it's been okay. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that Vectorworks Landmark can be used for more than just landscape design. It helps with scaling documents and images and completing materials take offs. The initial setup was very easy to download. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vectorworks Landmark?

There was an issue with the newest version not having the plant symbols create a mass. It was never fixed as far as I know, I was supposed to be alerted when the issue was resolved but never was. So I continue to use the older versions of the software because the 2024 issue was still not resolved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
