It's a program I know how to use from my days in university; it has remained fairly intuitive and when I need support there is a person who can easily walk me through the issue and if I have time they often help me learn more shortcuts. Because of the infrequency with which I need to use the software, I have limited knowledge and limited time to dedicate towards learning more; therefore, the value offered has not been fully realized. There are some clunky things - mainly relating to line types (I wish there was more customization) and some of the 3D controls feel a bit unintuitive and clunky compared to other options. The irrigation design tool is not as effective as our previous experience in AutoCAD with Land FX. I also felt like the support and onboarding process was a bit rocky - perhaps a combination of several of our staff reluctant to accept change alongside personality clash/unwillingness of our onboard trainer to adapt and adjust his methods. VW has helped us design more efficiently, reducing the amount of back and forth between consultants and internal programs. VW has also streamlined our software needs and in turn, reducing our software costs. We have been able to adapt VW to function as our GIS, CAD, 3D Modeling, and sheet/document layout tool - essentially reducing the number of ArcGIS, SketchUp, and Adobe licenses in the office. The software streamlines my modeling and documentation process with resources like symbols and styles, making it easy to duplicate efforts efficiently. The capability to create hardscapes and landscaped areas within a model and then draw out relevant data is particularly beneficial. I can document symbols and details for construction, which I can easily apply to other projects. Overall, it's enhanced my workflow by speeding it up and allowing me to include everything I want to design or build.
