## VALT Reviews
  ### 1. VALT Delivers Reliable Capture, Great Value, and Outstanding Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul C. | Director of Technology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2026

**What do you like best about VALT?**

VALT has been a great tool for many of our departments and colleges here at Minnesota State University. Capture has been clean and straightforward, with consistently reliable hardware that has lasted more than double the life expectancy of what we expected. The ease and convenience of SSO, along with the ability to import and manage class lists, has helped us quickly expand our offerings.

Our nursing simulation has completely changed its processes and workflows because we can manage everything from any space. Control rooms may be a thing of the past with this technology.

The price point is probably the biggest reason we moved from our previous products to VALT. The recurring low annual subscriptions, along with VALT not moving away from on-premise storage, has allowed us to get the most bang for our buck while we plan for the future.

Last, but definitely not least, VALT’s support is incredible. At every level, we’ve felt supported from installation through nearly eight years of using the platform. Technical issues are resolved in minutes, and larger, more robust feature requests are not only heard but implemented within the next few releases. This has helped our faculty continue to accelerate both synchronous and asynchronous learning. Overall, the product has stood the test of time and continues to outperform products we previously paid over five times more for.

**What do you dislike about VALT?**

The downsides of VALT are the high costs of storage, whether on-premise or in the cloud. That isn’t really a fault of VALT itself—just the world we currently live in. Managing groups and users can also be a bit challenging, especially once you get into the hundreds or thousands of users and dozens of groups. Beyond that, the only other things we don’t like about the current iteration of VALT are the minimal lag due to HTTPS and the inability to use the talk back feature adequately.

**What problems is VALT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

VALT helps solve the challenge of having to physically look into rooms to monitor what’s happening, since the capture can be live-streamed from anywhere. It also addresses issues with asynchronous learning by enabling annotations from both faculty and students.

  ### 2. State-of-the-Art Training Tool with Lightning-Fast, Helpful Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amney C. | Associate School Director, Full Professor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about VALT?**

VALT has given us the state of the art technology we needed to train new counselors. It does everything we need it to be able to do, and we are so happy to have this tool for working with our students. We also have loved working with the VALT staff. They are super helpful, and when I have had any technical issue, they have solved it within a few minutes. We also have made suggestions for the future, which they then built into subsequent upgrades. When we chose VALT, we reviewed a half dozen or so similar type companies, and none were able to do all that VALT offered for the price that they offer it. It is worth every penny we spend. When I give tours to new students, I get to highlight the equipment we have, and then also show them how we are able to put comments directly in videos, cut videos to make skills demonstration clips, use the bug in the ear tech for supervision, and just how easy it is to start and stop recordings (with multiple options for doing so). This is a big selling point for new students.

**What do you dislike about VALT?**

We have not had any complaints. Any issues we have had have been resolved, so there is nothing I can think of as a downside.

**What problems is VALT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

VALT has given us the opportunity to have everything we need to record and review clinical work for our students. There are features that really help us to be able to grow students' skills because the technology works when and how we need it to.

  ### 3. VALT’s User-Friendly Platform Makes Running Simulations Easy Anywhere

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2026

**What do you like best about VALT?**

The most helpful thing about VALT is how user friendly it is. Their platform provides everything you need to run a simulation in any environment. We also use their carts for simulation labs that can't quite afford the full simulation room. The next best thing is their customer service. They are patient, kind, and quick to respond.

**What do you dislike about VALT?**

The least helpful thing about VALT is the safety of traveling with the camera. At times we want to use the camera at different hospitals but it's difficult because the camera doesn't break down.

**What problems is VALT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem VALT is solving for me, is allowing increased fidelity in simulation labs that aren't official labs. We have 2 simulation labs at different hospitals, across the state, and they are old patient rooms or office spaces. The cameras allow the learners to run through simulation while we are able to watch from another room.

  ### 4. Essential for Simulation Labs, User-Friendly and Efficient

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2026

**What do you like best about VALT?**

I find VALT to be very easy to use and user-friendly, making it simple for me to teach other faculty members how to run the system. There are a lot of features within the product that I haven't even fully utilized yet, which shows its potential. At the graduate level, the templates and grading rubrics are really nice and add value. The initial setup was fairly easy once I got through the health systems security with their IT department, and VALT was very accommodating to our timeline. Overall, we really enjoy using this product. Customer support is one of the top priorities when selecting a product to use in our simulation space and VALT's support is top notch!

**What do you dislike about VALT?**

I can't think of anything that sticks out at this time. It fits our needs to what we are using the system for!

**What problems is VALT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Once we started using VALT, it allowed us to record and store video recordings for review and debriefing following simulations.

  ### 5. Unmatched Support!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lindsay B. | Senior Advisor, The Family Office of Philanthropy, Fund-Raising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2023

**What do you like best about VALT?**

VALT possesses a system that rarely encounters any problems. The only issue we faced was the synchronization of time stamps on cameras. They promptly provided a solution to overcome this lag time from viewing to laptop.

**What do you dislike about VALT?**

The customer support is highly responsive but sometimes overlooks features and fails to provide satisfactory solutions. Occasional glitches and technical issues have also hindered the functioning of the software.

**What problems is VALT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

VALT tackles the problem of technology enablement, in education effectively. By utilizing its video recording and streaming capabilities VALT enables us to capture and share lectures enhancing student engagement and accessibility.

  ### 6. Very friendly and knowledgeable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2023

**What do you like best about VALT?**

When we (the Children's Advocacy Center) were moving location, we knew it was time to spend money on a quality recording system for our Forensic Interviews. VALT immediately replied with beneficial information and the cost to install for our project. They explained everything very well. It was easy to understand what they had to offer. They walked us through everything and helped us get trained well on their system. The support staff have been excellent; they are always delightful to work with. They usually figure out any problems and then explain the issue and the fix they applied. They have excellent customer service and a great product.

**What do you dislike about VALT?**

There is not too much to dislike. I am having trouble even thinking of something. The only issue we have had with VALT is syncing up the time stamp on the covert and overhead cameras. They seem to have a robust system, and we don't have any issues.

**What problems is VALT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We conduct forensic interviews within our center. These interviews are watched live and recorded for evidence. They have a very user-friendly, confidential, and secure system for what we need to be done.

  ### 7. Very nice product with excellent customer support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mary O. | Simulation Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2022

**What do you like best about VALT?**

I appreciate the flexibility of the system in regards to locations of use. As long as we have a laptop and a camera, we can view, record and debrief from any location.

**What do you dislike about VALT?**

Lagtime from live (viewed from a one-way glass control room) to viewing on a laptop. I understand this is due to the time it takes for the signal to go through the entire network. I appreciate the VALT folks provided a solution to this issue.

**What problems is VALT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our need for an AV solution in our nursing simulation and lab environment.

  ### 8. Impressively Simple

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 11, 2022

**What do you like best about VALT?**

VALT creates software to capture video for training, law, etc. It could be especially useful for a nursing simulation.

**What do you dislike about VALT?**

Some parts of the software can seem a little complicated for the average folk. However, through some trainings, it is straightforward.

**What problems is VALT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is secure, it is safe, and overall it is efficient to use. It is far better than using Zoom or screen recording.

  ### 9. Two Systems

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bret S. | Technology Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2022

**What do you like best about VALT?**

When I started my position over a decade ago, our counseling education clinic was using a sports analysis system to record their sessions. That system was getting old, and we replaced it with a security video system. As we used the security video system, it always felt like we were trying to pound an oversized square peg into a small round hole. As we were very dissatisfied with that system, I started looking again for a video system for our clinic. This is when I found Intelligent Video Systems. After a demo and talking with the folks at IVS, we decided that this was the system we really needed a few years before. Our first installation was pre-VALT, but it was vastly superior solution for our clinic. At that time, IVS as a company was just starting to grow. When the VALT system was introduced, implementing it on our users' computers was even easier than before. This system allows for live viewing of the session, watching the recording later, and adding tags both live and when reviewing. Recordings can be scheduled to start and end automatically, or they can be started and stopped manually. Overall, this system has been easier for me to support than the previous security video system. I liked the VALT system so much that when our literacy clinic was having some struggles with a system designed for classroom use (I was not involved in the original selection of that system), that I was able to convince the literacy clinic to implement a VALT system, which actually ended up meeting their needs better, at about a third of the cost of the previous system.

**What do you dislike about VALT?**

The one downside I currently see about VALT is that when something happens to the system and it needs attention (which is not very often), that as the company has grown, the wait time for technical support has increased a bit. In retrospect, I was spoiled when IVS as a company was smaller, I knew the main set of employees, and could get help by just emailing or calling them up. As IVS has gone through these growing pains, they have adjusted by increasing the number of staff available for technical support, and support time frames are constantly improving. I will say though that the quality of technical support has always be very good.

**Recommendations to others considering VALT:**

Intelligent Video Solutions is a small business (and growing) that really wants to make sure their product meets the needs of their users. They are responsive and even after growing, is still a great company with which to do business.

**What problems is VALT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The VALT system allows both of our clinics to record sessions, with the freedom to do those recordings at they best see fit. The live view capability is nice so that supervisors can see and hear what is happening in the various sessions, and can intercede during the session if the need arises. The supervisors are able to view multiple sessions at a time, and can easily switch audio between the multiple session. The supervisors and professors can then review the video at a later time together with those students in the session. Additionaly, the literacy clinic also uses the VALT system as part of research projects.

  ### 10. It has been a lifesaver.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brenda Y. | Department of Psychology Secretary, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2021

**What do you like best about VALT?**

It is so user-friendly. I can start new people using it with very little instruction.

**What do you dislike about VALT?**

I wish I could change access categories for multiple users at one time instead of individually.

**Recommendations to others considering VALT:**

The product is dependable, and the service provided is the best I have ever encountered. It has been even more valuable during the Covid pandemic.

**What problems is VALT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We didn't like putting videos on data cards. They were hard to keep track of and often had errors you wouldn't see until you watched them. We haven't experienced any recording error since using this system.

  ### 11. VALT in Higher Education

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel C. | Director of Academic Technology

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2021

**What do you like best about VALT?**

Could based recording and easy physcial quick start with button in room

**What do you dislike about VALT?**

Pretty stable system. Talkback over speaker system could be a bit better and little quirks in software from time to tim.

**What problems is VALT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solved our Nursing Simulation Lab issue, and we use the software extensively in our Comm recording studio for student use.
