My coach used strategies that were tailored to me and that fit my personal situation and needs. I worked with my employer to obtain additional sessions because coaching has been essential to me at this stage of my academic career where I'm transitioning to a more senior leader and juggling numerous responsibilities. Can't recommend Valor and Coach Amy more highly. **What do you dislike about Valor?** No downsides! I did not dislike anything about the program. **What problems is Valor solving and how is that benefiting you?** I used Valor for coaching in my role as a professor in academia focused on burnout prevention and growth as a leader. Very excited for the sessions to come! **What do you dislike about Valor?** No complaints so far I have enjoyed the process so far **What problems is Valor solving and how is that benefiting you?** So far, I have had two sessions and have focused on Trade-Offs (What are you gaining and what are you losing) and being deliberate. For me, time management is key and we have designed our conversations around how we need to be deliberate and understand the tradeoffs and value in those. ### 7. It's helpful to have someone to bounce ideas off of and explore tactics to make you a more effective and better coworker, leader, friend. This was the first time I've worked somewhere with a sponsored coaching program, and it has made me feel valued and seen. As a business it's easy to spend time on business problems - but working on delivery, presentation skills, confidence, some of those softer skills is really impactful across the org, Valor can help with that. **What do you dislike about Valor?** I wish I had used the resources in the Valor Platform more. This was extremely useful in helping me to connect the dots on some of the more complex discussions we had. **What do you dislike about Valor?** Not Applicable.I thought the content and discussions were useful and I learnt a lot . **What problems is Valor solving and how is that benefiting you?** My focus when I signed up for these sessions was very specific on how to pass the concept of accountability and ownership on to my team - In my sessions with Dr. Paul, which covered numerous topics around how this could be achieved, the main thing that stood out was the idea of having a very clearly defined mission and making sure that everyone on my team actually knows WHY that mission is important. ### 14. HubSpot signed on to have their top-performing managers work 1:1 with a Valor coach over the course of 9 months. My coach Paul Ashbrook has been amazing to work with, and is the ultimate accountability partner. There is a tremendous amount of value to having a performance coach that works outside of your organization. I enjoyed the coaching so much that I opted to use HubSpot's tuition reimbursement program to continue my Valor coaching after the initial 9 month period. Valor coaching helped me develop a performance mindset, taught me how to avoid burnout, and helped me with goal setting/accountability. I would highly recommend Valor to any business professional that is looking to level up as a leader. In the 2+ years of working with Valor, I've also had the pleasure of interacting with Valor founder Sarah Milby, and Director of Sales Tim Mann. The Valor team truly cares about the success of everyone that joins their program. **What do you dislike about Valor?** Nothing that I dislike about Valor at this time. **What problems is Valor solving and how is that benefiting you?** Valor has helped me develop a performance mindset, taught me how to avoid burnout, and helped me with goal setting/accountability. Before working with Valor, I was "successful" in my role, but I knew that I could be better. My coach Paul Ashbrook helped me take a big lofty goal, break it down into smaller goals, and hold myself accountable daily as I worked toward the bigger picture. ### 15. They have genuinely world-class coaches focused on optimizing your performance mindset in business. The coaching is framed by a set of core competencies that were easily transferable to our business. Since coaching is at its essence a 1 on 1 relationship, Valor does a great job pairing leaders with coaches. Occasionally, a leader/coach match might not work out, and the Valor team has always stepped right up to switch a coach. What I like the most is that it works. The leaders we have put through the Valor program have become observably better at leading their teams due to the coaching they have received. **What do you dislike about Valor?** The only real downside has less to do with Valor and more to do with the person being coached. As the saying goes, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. The same is true here. You can enroll a leader in the Valor program, but there is no guarantee that person will take the coaching onboard and practice the new skills they may be introduced to or adopt the mindset that can allow them to be more effective. **What problems is Valor solving and how is that benefiting you?** Valor solves two key problems for us. The first is providing leaders with outside perspective and expertise. This is particularly useful for leaders that have risen within the organization. Getting outside perspective helps them broaden their leadership approach in meaningful ways. The second is around leader retention. It is essential to continue to invest in the development of our leaders. Contracting with individual leadership coaches can be prohibitively expensive. Valor provides us a cost-effective solution for supporting our leadership develpment efforts. The leaders we invest in stay longer and make more meaningful contributions to our success. ### 16. Easy to use platform for online sessions and trainings, and the live coaching sessions are great. I really valued the outsider perspectives which helped me think through some challenges I was dealing with differently. After just a few sessions, I felt like I had already gained a lot of helpful tips to take with me in the future. **What do you dislike about Valor?** I didn't dislike anything, but you have to commit time to yourself to complete exercises before the coaching sessions. **What problems is Valor solving and how is that benefiting you?** In a fast-paced, growing start-up, your time and attention can be pulled in different directions, and my Valor coach helped me take a step back and look at one thing at a time. She helped me look at challenges in a different way and gave me more confidence in my decision-making.
