## About UpGuard Breach Risk
UpGuard Breach Risk is an AI-powered attack surface management solution that empowers lean security teams to see what attackers see and take control of their external risk. As part of the UpGuard Cyber Risk Posture Management (CRPM) platform, it integrates seamlessly with Vendor Risk and User Risk to provide a unified defense against modern cyber threats. As organizations scale, their digital footprint expands beyond the firewall, creating dangerous blind spots. Traditional tools often miss these external signals, leaving teams vulnerable to shadow IT, exposed credentials, and brand abuse. Breach Risk solves this by combining Attack Surface Management (ASM), Digital Risk Protection (DRP), and advanced Threat Monitoring into a single, automated platform. Key Capabilities: • Continuous Attack Surface Discovery: You can’t protect what you can’t see. Breach Risk continuously maps your internet-facing assets like domains, IPs, and cloud resources, to uncover shadow IT and misconfigurations. We automatically inventory your digital footprint to close the gaps that attackers exploit, ensuring no asset goes unmonitored. • AI-Powered Threat Monitoring: Move beyond static feeds. Our Threat Monitoring engine scans the open, deep, and dark web to detect leaked employee credentials, infostealer logs, and malware signals before they are weaponized. Unlike traditional threat intelligence that floods you with raw data, our AI Threat Analyst triages signals to filter out noise and prioritize high-fidelity threats for immediate action. • Brand Protection & Disinformation Defense: Safeguard your reputation against fraud. We proactively detect lookalike domains (typosquatting) and fraudulent social media profiles used to launch phishing attacks and disinformation campaigns. Our integrated workflows help you identify and neutralize these impersonation attempts before they erode customer trust. • Actionable Remediation: We don’t just find problems; we help you fix them. Breach Risk provides guided remediation plans and integrates with your security tech stack, allowing lean teams to accelerate response times without adding headcount. By translating complex technical risks into a quantifiable Cyber Risk Score, UpGuard enables security leaders to benchmark performance, justify budget, and prove risk reduction to the board.

## UpGuard Breach Risk Reviews
 ### 1. User-Friendly, Scalable, and Seamless Attack Surface Management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2026

**What do you like best about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

UpGuard is extremely user-friendly. Unlike other platforms, it’s straightforward and intuitive to navigate. Report generation is convenient and truly hassle-free. Implementation was quick, and the platform fits seamlessly into my organizational environment.

Customer support has been excellent, and we receive timely updates about upcoming events and webinars. We rely on UpGuard daily to monitor our breach risk and to generate reports on detected vulnerabilities and compromised emails. With its easy integration, it’s an outstanding option for any organization looking for effective attack surface management. The platform’s scalability also helps it stand out among its peers.

**What do you dislike about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

I would have appreciated the platform more if it offered some kind of remediation support for the risks and vulnerabilities it detects. One drawback I’ve noticed is that the remediation process is left entirely up to the organization, which, in my view, is a bit of a downside.

**What problems is UpGuard Breach Risk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Upguards gives us an edge over our competitors by providing proactive alerts and timely updates on detected risks and vulnerabilities. The reports are clear, straightforward to read, and easy to share with top management. The platform is user-friendly and scalable, which is what really sets it apart for us. It helps us manage our attack surface effectively and gives us confidence that we have solid visibility into our organization’s security posture and that it’s being properly maintained.

 ### 2. Breach Risk Makes Security Risk Actionable and Leadership-Friendly

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harish Kumar S. | Assistant General Manager - Corporate Compliance, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2026

**What do you like best about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

What I like most about Breach Risk is that it takes a security problem that’s often hard to explain and turns it into something that actually feels actionable. Its features help me quantify risk, focus on the biggest exposures first, and build leadership buy-in by clearly showing why certain issues matter now instead of being pushed off until later.

**What do you dislike about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

The risk scoring is very useful, but the underlying logic isn’t transparent, so our team struggles to explain the results to others. I’d like more actionable remediation guidance, a clearer explanation of how the risk is calculated, and stronger prioritization so the most urgent items stand out right away.

**What problems is UpGuard Breach Risk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using a tool like this, teams often struggle with fragmented visibility, inconsistent risk assessments, and slow prioritization across vulnerabilities, assets, and compliance concerns. Now, they can identify critical risks earlier, focus remediation on what matters most, and communicate the business impact more clearly to leadership. The ROI largely comes from saving analyst time, reducing the chance that high-risk issues are overlooked, and accelerating decision-making. It works best when it can connect risk findings to existing security and IT workflows, helping teams avoid duplicate manual effort and keep work moving in a single place.

 ### 3. A GRC Analyst’s Take on UpGuard Breach Risk

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jarvin A. | Associate Manager Cybersecurity, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2026

**What do you like best about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

Having worked in GRC for over 7 years, what I genuinely like about UpGuard’s Breach Risk capability is how practical and usable it is in real-world scenarios like it doesn’t just surface technical findings but actually helps you prioritise what matters from a risk perspective. The visibility into an organisation’s external attack surface, combined with clear scoring and continuous monitoring, makes it easy to assess and track vendor risk over time. I’ve found it especially valuable when making risk-based decisions during onboarding or reassessments, as it provides independent, evidence-based insights that complement questionnaires and audit reports, while also making it easier to communicate risk to both technical teams and business stakeholders.

**What do you dislike about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

If I had to point out a downside or keeping it fair I’d say that from my end the Breach Risk findings can sometimes feel a bit high-level, and you still need to validate whether certain issues are truly exploitable or just best-practice gaps. It’s not really a flaw, more just the nature of external scanning, but it does mean you can’t rely on it alone without applying some GRC judgement and context. Overall though, it’s a minor trade-off for how much visibility and efficiency it gives.

**What problems is UpGuard Breach Risk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

From my experience, Breach Risk is solving the challenge of not having clear visibility into a company or vendor’s real external exposure. Before tools like this, I’d rely heavily on questionnaires or audit reports like SOC 2 type 2, which don’t always reflect current risk. With UpGuard, I can quickly see if there are exposed services, weak configurations, or potential entry points and basically how an attacker might view the organisation. This really helps me make faster, evidence based decisions in vendor onboarding and reassessments, and it gives me more confidence when explaining risks to stakeholders because I’m not just relying on what’s declared, but on actual observable data.

 ### 4. UpGuard helps us in Continuous Monitoring and Alerts for Our internet facing domains

We currently use UpGuard as part of our Attack Surface Management program. It provides continuous monitoring and alerting for external security exposures and potential threats tied to our exposure on internet, including monitoring of our official domains and employee email identities.

**What do you dislike about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

It sometimes links inactive or completely unrelated domains and IP addresses to an organization, which can reduce the overall security score.

**What problems is UpGuard Breach Risk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

UpGuard continuously scans our public-facing internet activities, including our websites, IP addresses, and email servers. It automatically alerts us as soon as our security posture drops or a new vulnerability is exposed, helping us shift from reactive to proactive risk management.

I use Breach Risk to determine where our vulnerabilities are, particularly in relation to our third-party risk. It gives us insight into where we haven't closed the gaps in our security posture. It's helped us automate a lot of our processes and prioritize our risks and risk exposure. The automation feature is valuable for verifying that risks have been closed, giving us peace of mind that we're making progress on closing our exposures. The initial setup was incredibly easy; my team was able to figure it out within minutes. It's very intuitive.

**What do you dislike about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

While UpGuard Breach Risk is feature-rich, some advanced settings and reports can take time to fully understand. Certain integrations could offer deeper customization, and pricing may be challenging for smaller organizations.

The platform’s intuitive interface, strong integrations, and reliable performance help our team make informed decisions and achieve better ROI from cybersecurity investments.

 ### 7. Top-Notch Vulnerability Detection with Real-Time AI Breach Insights

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Veera H. | Cybersecurity Executive, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2026

**What do you like best about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

It helps us identify vulnerabilities without having to perform manual scans or put in a lot of manual effort. Especially the AI-included identity breached feature, which is very helpful and works in real time to find information leakages. It’s also helping us get a good ROI. Support is good as well. The UI is very easy to manage, and the overall performance of the tool is top-notch.

**What do you dislike about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

We noticed some false positive results. For example, a few detections were flagged from a resigned user’s IDs, even though those IDs have already been removed from our domain.

**What problems is UpGuard Breach Risk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It reduces the manual effort needed for issue identification. The details provided by Upguard are also very easy to understand, which makes it simpler to review and act on them.

The platform makes it easy to identify data leaks and security gaps through a user-friendly dashboard, while also providing actionable recommendations and real-time alerts. It helps us stay proactive, reduce potential breaches, and maintain stronger control over both internal and external security risks. The platform quickly started providing insights once our domains and assets were added, making the onboarding process smooth without requiring heavy technical effort. Overall, it's a reliable and user-friendly tool that provides strong visibility into security risks and vendor exposure.

**What do you dislike about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

Could be improved by providing more detailed context for findings, better report customization, and clearer prioritization of alerts so teams can focus on the most critical risks faster.

 ### 9. Essential for Monitoring Security with Ease

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2026

**What do you like best about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

I love that UpGuard Breach Risk allows me to compare our public presence to scores of comparable organizations, which is important for us as a local government county entity. Being able to compare our website to other county websites and see the historical trend over time is really useful. I can track our improvements through an easy-to-understand graph chart. The setup was extremely easy, and the support and rollout team walked us through the process. It took less than thirty minutes to an hour.

**What do you dislike about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

One of the things that would be nice is potentially having a dashboard showing financial impacts, indicating what the potential financial risks are if a site were to be breached.

**What problems is UpGuard Breach Risk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use UpGuard Breach Risk for monitoring security and vulnerabilities on our public-facing websites, creating awareness of vulnerabilities, and enabling us to be responsive in patching and upgrading systems to keep them secure.

 ### 10. UpGuard BreachRisk: Seamless Agentless Monitoring with Board-Ready Insights

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2026

**What do you like best about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

What makes UpGuard's BreachRisk module outstanding is how seamlessly it fuses continuous, agentless threat monitoring with highly actionable business intelligence. From a UI/UX perspective, it simplifies complex external security postures into a clean, highly intuitive, and board-ready dashboard with pre-built report templates, while its robust Integrations natively connect with tools like Jira, ServiceNow, Datadog, and Zapier to instantly automate real-time remediation ticketing. It delivers high-impact Performance through continuous, 24/7 agentless scanning of your entire digital footprint with zero-lag verification rescans, maximizing your Pricing / ROI by replacing costly manual audits with automated prevention of multi-million dollar data leaks. Furthermore, its Support / Onboarding stands out by providing a dedicated Customer Success Manager and expert-led setup at no extra cost, all powered by an advanced AI / Intelligence engine that acts as a virtual Tier 1 analyst to actively crawl deep and dark web channels, contextually triaging actual credential exposures while eliminating noisy false positives.

**What do you dislike about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

Despite its strengths, the main criticisms of UpGuard's BreachRisk module center on its reliance on passive, non-intrusive scanning, which can sometimes lead to superficial vulnerability assessments and unverified alerts compared to deep, active security scanners. Users also report that the automated domain and subdomain discovery can occasionally miss active assets, forcing security teams to manually audit and input their digital footprint. Additionally, because the platform is detection-focused, it lacks native remediation capabilities, meaning security teams must still resolve the flagged exposures externally or coordinate manual domain takedown requests which can be slow to process. From an administrative standpoint, the annual pricing scales rapidly as your tracked asset inventory grows, making the entry-level cost quite steep for smaller organizations, while the dashboard interface and PDF reporting templates can sometimes feel rigid and complex to customize for specific stakeholder-to-navigate for teams seeking granular dashboard customization.

**What problems is UpGuard Breach Risk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At its core, BreachRisk solves the complex problem of fragmented, manual external attack surface management and blind spots regarding dark web exposure by consolidating your external threat landscape into a single proactive defense system. It continuously and automatically maps your entire internet-facing footprint to eliminate shadow IT, while actively crawling deep and dark web forums, paste sites, and encrypted channels to identify compromised employee credentials and leaked data before they are weaponized. This benefits you by transforming a chaotic, alert-heavy security operation into a highly structured, automated workflow that filters out false positives using AI-driven triage, protects your brand reputation by scanning for typosquatted domains, and speeds up time-to-remediation through direct integrations with systems like Jira and ServiceNow. Ultimately, this shifts your posture from reacting to breaches after they occur to actively neutralizing external vulnerabilities and exposures in real time, keeping your enterprise secure with minimal manual effort.

 ### 11. Clear Security Ratings and Reliable Alerts for External Attack Surface Visibility

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2026

**What do you like best about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

What I like most about UpGuard is how clear its security rating system is, along with the continuous visibility it gives us into our external attack surface. It helps us spot potential exposures—like open ports or misconfigured DNS records—before they can be exploited. The automated alerts have been very reliable, so our security team can respond quickly to vulnerabilities without needing to constantly run manual checks.

**What do you dislike about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

The pricing structure can be on the higher side, which may affect overall ROI for smaller organizations or for teams that need to monitor a very large number of third-party vendors. Also, while the standard integrations with tools like Jira and Slack work well, setting up more customized API connections can take some additional manual effort.

**What problems is UpGuard Breach Risk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

UpGuard automates our external attack surface monitoring and vendor risk assessments, which were previously highly manual tasks. This has saved us a significant amount of time and improved our security team’s efficiency. Its continuous threat intelligence, along with the platform’s solid performance, helps us maintain a strong security posture while keeping administrative overhead to a minimum.

It’s very easy to use and navigate. The information provided is relevant and helpful for the organization, making it straightforward to find what I need.

It helps me identify company issues that are visible to the public and could potentially be exploited by threat actors.

 ### 18. Clear Risk Scoring but Limited Internal Scope

I find the clear objective scores valuable for understanding risk in subjective analysis and turning technical findings into defensible evidence.

UpGuard Breach Risk provides a good overview of the externally visible vulnerabilities of our company. I find the Darknet monitoring particularly helpful and valuable because it provides additional insights into potential risks.

**What do you dislike about UpGuard Breach Risk?**

Since only the external view is available, a part of the overall context is naturally missing, which makes classification accordingly difficult.

early detections to published breaches allows us to respond faster

 ### 23. Identify Perimeter Vulnerabilities Quickly
