We expected a professional, localized translation, but what we received was a poor-quality translation riddled with fundamental errors. These mistakes were so blatant that any student in a basic translation course would have failed with this output. The translations were literal, robotic renditions with zero understanding of cultural context or nuance, despite specific request for a localized approach. When questioned, the agency dismissed these serious errors as "stylistic choices" — even though multiple native speakers both within and outside our company agreed that we would have gotten a better result using free tools like DeepL or Google Translate. The process itself was just as disappointing. Initially, they acknowledged our concerns, but after several back-and-forths, they changed their position and insisted on a "QA round". This only stalled the issue, and they ultimately forced us to pay for a subpar product, offering a small discount that didn't even begin to cover the additional time and resources we had to allocate internally to correct their work. **Recommendations to others considering Translated:** TL;DR: Don't work with Translated.com if you're seeking reliable, quality translation services. Their lack of professionalism and refusal to take accountability left us with a poor experience and a document we simply couldn't use without significant internal rework. And my kind advice was taken for granted; regardless, those were less than 5 bucks POs. All can join as translators and choose different language pairs with one single mother language. No test exam was required, not to mention those linguists explained "I have a full-time job" as an excuse for severe incidents found by others. **What do you like best about Translated?** Project Managers are all very kind to freelancers. My main field is software localization given the solid experiences learned from my previous positions. For those IT projects I was involved, I kept wondering how Translated acquired their "dedicated" Mandarin Chinese and Traditional Chinese linguists, there were always severe translation errors found in the tasks, although it wasn't my task scope to review. I literally spent more time on reporting the issues to PM in most purchasing orders I accepted. Translated has a strict policy for translator to choose only one native language, but these linguists could not identify the errors in their own mother language. For the records I've filed, and long thread communications, Translated eventually trusted in my recommendations. **What do you dislike about Translated?** Whenever I found and reported the errors, translators and linguists did not seem to be accountable. The community associate manager told me, "We haven't received any complaints from our client who is happy with the overall quality of this language variant." Lack of customer-driven would only destroy the confidence and trust from the accounts, not to mention the output deemed to fail in quality. **Recommendations to others considering Translated:** PMs at translated are very detail-oriented with patience; full-time employees do excellent jobs with no doubts. Although both Mandarin Chinese and Traditional Chinese translation quality is questionable, I'd suggest those favored clients request the order from two different agencies and make the best decision according to the profesionalism of a delivery. **What problems is Translated solving and how is that benefiting you?** In fact, I solved so many problems for Translated and I did not even ask of compensation. One time I was assigned to translate a dozen words, but I immediately found there were so many translation errors verified and approved before I took the task, I then performed a full review and the volume was 400 times more than what I was responsible for. Shared the report with the team and PM, all relevant linguists did not try to fix the errors, instead they googled and attached student's paper as professional references. ### 24.
