You can quickly integrate data, make some modifications, and create a dynamic and effective report. Understanding the tool is quite easy and intuitive for both a designer and a user. The responsiveness of customer support is very pleasant. The UX/UI interface of Toucan has been quite appreciable since version 3. **What do you dislike about Toucan?** The simplicity that Toucan offers for use by people who do not necessarily have training in this area is a downside for me, as I have been accustomed for several years to building dashboards: - The datasets The logic of creating datasets to manipulate data is quite good. However, it can quickly become cumbersome and difficult to adapt when there are many modifications or many datasets. In other tools, the ability to create variables or to make datasets interact lightens this aspect considerably. The real problem, in my opinion, remains the calculation of dynamic rates (which I have had to do many times). I have several filters in Toucan, and therefore the rate must be recalculated each time the user changes a filter, which forces me to tinker with the datasets. The solution, initially, would be to be able to perform in the construction of a graph, for example, SUM(Field1) / AVG(field2). - The graphs The choice of options for each graph is a bit limited, but it's still OK. The problem here is that we cannot customize the display of graphs enough based on what is displayed. For example, I would like a story that displays 3 sectors. It has powerful back-end capabilty. I often use direct SQL queries, but the platform has good data scrubbing and processing capabilities as well. They have deployed a new Version 3 platform, and I am awaiting access to that. The company has made a lot of good changes that will reduced deployment time. Also, they have improved the pdf reporting which heretofore was weak. While performance is good most of the time, they are promising improved performance with this latest version. **What do you dislike about Toucan?** I want the ability to have additional descriptive labels to forms. They have applied updates to the platform which has resulted in my site being unavailable to my customers. Customer support can take 2-3 days to get a response. **Recommendations to others considering Toucan:** For me, the platform had the right combination of built-in capabilities with the ability to be very granular. The built-in menu framework allows for deeper insight into the story about the data in an easy-to-follow manner. When I initially started using the product, the queries (or 'connectors' ) were too generic and caused speed issues. I learned over time to design more connectors that were crafted to the analysis at hand and had a much better response. The people are accommodating and pleasant.
