## About The Cognitive
AI recruiting software that sources candidates, runs live two-way AI interviews, and delivers evidence-scored shortlists - from $49/month. The Cognitive is an AI recruiting platform that covers the full top of the hiring funnel: AI candidate sourcing, live AI interviews, and automated shortlisting. It supports technical, behavioral, and managerial interview rounds, with automated screening available across any timezone, at any time of day. thecognitive AI sourcing: describe who you need in plain English (no boolean strings needed), get matched candidates with verified emails and phone numbers, and run automated outreach — including an AI voice agent that calls candidates. From $49/month. Live AI interviewer: unlike one-way video interview tools, The Cognitive runs real two-way conversations — a live AI interviewer with a face and voice that adapts its questions in real time to the role, rubric, resume, and the candidate's previous answers. Interviews run ~20 minutes; candidates self-schedule inside a recruiter-set window; 90%+ completion rates vs 40–60% typical for one-way video screening. From $99/month, effectively $5–8 per interview on subscription plans. Evidence-scored shortlists: every score links to the exact quote and timestamp in the interview recording. Recordings are available immediately and scored feedback lands within minutes. Recruiters and hiring managers make every final decision — the AI screens, humans hire. Built for recruiting agencies, staffing firms, and in-house talent teams hiring 5–45 people a month. 20,000+ AI interviews run since 2024. Customers have cut time-to-hire from 60 days to under 10, and scaled from 200 to 1,400 interviews a month on the same 8-person team. Integrates with Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, Bullhorn, and other ATS platforms. MCP server available for AI-agent workflows.

## The Cognitive Reviews
 ### 1. AI Sourcing That Learns From Recruiter Feedback and Improves Each Search

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Henrique C. | Senior Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about The Cognitive?**

What stood out over time is the scouting. It is not a search box where you rebuild the same filters for every role. As we use it and make decisions, the results move closer to the profiles we normally pay attention to.
That has mattered most on harder roles, where the right person is not obvious from a title or a few keywords. We have found people we would not have surfaced ourselves, and it got better as it saw more of how we work.
The rest helps too. Once someone looks interesting we move into outreach, scheduling and interviews without losing the context from the original search, which Ashby never managed on its own.

**What do you dislike about The Cognitive?**

There is still back-and-forth at the start of a role, especially when the profile is unusual or the hiring team has a very specific picture in mind.

We spend time on the first round and refine from there. After that it settles quickly.

**What problems is The Cognitive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The big one is repeated sourcing work. Every new role used to mean rebuilding searches, trying title and keyword combinations, and deciding by hand where to widen or narrow.

Now we spend more time judging candidates and less operating the search. The scouting gets closer to what we mean by a good fit, so talent sourcing feels more consistent across roles.
A candidate also does not disappear into another system once they reply. We keep moving from sourcing into outreach and interviews with the same context about why they were relevant.

 ### 2. Quick Setup, Accurate AI Screening and More Depth Than Expected

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about The Cognitive?**

How fast we get from an open role to candidates worth discussing. We describe who we want, work through the results, enrich the profiles and start outreach, instead of spending half a day building a list. It brings up people we would not have reached, which for us mostly means passive candidates we never had time to chase properly. It reads from Ashby rather than making us re-key everything, so getting started did not mean a migration project. It got more interesting once candidates replied. The interview is not the usual screen where everyone gets the same three questions. It stays with an answer, asks again when something is vague, and gives people room to actually talk. By the time we look at the recording and scorecard there is enough there for a proper internal discussion.

**What do you dislike about The Cognitive?**

Sourcing needs tuning at the start of a role. We adjust what we are asking for after the first set of candidates rather than expecting the first search to be right. I would also like more control in parts of the review workflow. Nothing that stops us using it, but the more we use it, the fussier we get about how candidate information reaches the team.

**What problems is The Cognitive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our problem was never only sourcing. It was everything between opening a role and having a shortlist worth spending time on. The repetitive part of that middle section is mostly gone. Sourcing, enrichment, outreach and scheduling move faster, but the bigger thing is how much more we know before anyone reaches the next stage. Instead of a CV, some notes and a screening result, we can see how someone handled a real conversation and go back to specific parts of it. The process feels less fragmented and the shortlist is more useful. That matters to us more than a bigger pile of candidates.

 ### 3. Adaptive AI Interviews With Real Follow-Up Questions, Not a Questionnaire

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert H. | Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Current User:** The reviewer uploaded a screenshot or submitted the review in-app verifying them as current user.

**Validated Reviewer:** This review contains authentic analysis and has been reviewed by our team

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2026

**What do you like best about The Cognitive?**

The interviewing surprised us most. We expected a fixed list of questions and a recording at the end.

What we got is a lot more involved. Candidates explain their experience, go deeper, ask things back, and the conversation follows what they are actually saying. If an answer is thin, it stays on the topic instead of moving to question four.

That makes the output more useful. We have the video interview, the scorecard and the feedback together, so we can see why someone was evaluated a certain way. Our hiring managers start their own conversations already knowing what is worth digging into.

**What do you dislike about The Cognitive?**

Getting the role and interview criteria right upfront matters more than we expected. Too broad a brief gives you a broader evaluation, so we now spend longer on it.

There are also times we want to go past the scorecard and listen to part of the interview ourselves, particularly for stronger candidates. The recording makes that easy, but we still apply our own judgment before moving anyone forward.

**What problems is The Cognitive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our problem was the work between finding someone and knowing enough to make a real decision. Sourcing, enrichment, outreach, scheduling and early interviews eat a lot of time before the hiring team gets to the strongest people.

We get through that with far less coordination now. Candidates go from outreach into an actual conversation, and by the time we look at the shortlist we know a lot about them. It made the early stage easier without turning the interview into a box-tick.

 ### 4. Sourcing, AI Interviews and Shortlists in One Recruiting Workflow

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about The Cognitive?**

We use The Cognitive across most of our process, so sourcing, enrichment, outreach and interviews, and the thing that matters is that it stays connected.

We find candidates, get the contact details we need, run outreach and move people into scheduling without much manual work in between. We did not have to rip out Lever, which is honestly why it got approved internally.

Once interviews start, having the recording, scorecard and feedback in one place makes reviewing much easier. We are not left with just a transcript. We go back into the conversation, look at the evaluation and compare people with the role in mind. Everyone reviewing a candidate is working from the same thing.

**What do you dislike about The Cognitive?**

There is real setup when we open a new role. Getting the requirements, interview flow and evaluation criteria right takes a proper session.

We have also learned to review the sourcing results and scorecards rather than treat them as final. The output is usually good, but there are always candidates where context matters more than a score.

**What problems is The Cognitive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our work used to be spread across sourcing tools, enrichment, outreach, calendars, interviews and internal feedback.

Most of that runs in one place now. We find candidates, enrich profiles, reach out, schedule, and review the interview and scorecard without rebuilding context at every stage.

The biggest difference is less coordination. Less time moving information between systems, following up and chasing feedback. When we decide who moves forward, the sourcing context and the interview are together instead of scattered across tools and notes.

 ### 5. All-in-One Recruiting Workflow with Powerful Sourcing, Outreach, and AI Interviews

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prasun S. | Software Engineer , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Current User:** The reviewer uploaded a screenshot or submitted the review in-app verifying them as current user.

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through LinkedIn

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2026

**What do you like best about The Cognitive?**

What we liked most was having so much of the recruiting workflow connected in one place. We ended up using the platform a bit differently depending on the role, but the features we found most useful were sourcing, candidate enrichment, outreach, scheduling, and the AI interviewing process. The interview recordings, feedback, and scorecards were also valuable, especially when our team needed to revisit candidates later and make more consistent comparisons.

**What do you dislike about The Cognitive?**

The main thing we had to get used to was the initial setup and figuring out which parts of the platform made the most sense for our particular hiring process. We didn’t use every feature for every role, so there was some trial and error in setting up the workflow. Once we had that figured out, the day-to-day use was fairly straightforward.

**What problems is The Cognitive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped us bring several parts of the recruiting process together instead of handling sourcing, outreach, scheduling, and early-stage screening separately. We also used the AI interviewing and evaluation tools for some roles, which helped when we had a larger number of candidates to review. Having interview recordings, feedback, and scorecards in the same workflow made it easier for our team to compare candidates and keep the process more consistent. The main benefit for us was having less manual coordination between the different stages of hiring.

 ### 6. Efficient Candidate Sourcing & Automated Workflow of Evaluation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cristina L. | Senior Technical Writer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2026

**What do you like best about The Cognitive?**

Our team utilizes the platform for candidate sourcing, data enrichment, and evaluation scorecards. The enrichment feature allows us to easily compile candidates' backgrounds without having to spend much time doing manual cross-reference. The existence of scorecards within candidate profiles provides a framework for reviewing technical applicants.

**What do you dislike about The Cognitive?**

There needs to be some tweaking when it comes to customizing complex evaluation workflows at the stage of initial workspace setup. Moreover, sometimes the status filters take some time to update while dealing with many candidate records.

**What problems is The Cognitive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before, searching for qualified candidates with technical skills would take hours of manual validation of their profiles. Using the automated sourcing and shortlisting features of thecognitive.io simplifies the whole process of candidate search and standardizes our own hiring process.

 ### 7. Interview Recording and Structured Scorecards for Consistent Candidate Evaluation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roosevelt B. | Enterprise Sales Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through a business email account

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2026

**What do you like best about The Cognitive?**

Being able to record interviews and evaluate against standardised scorecards has been very helpful. It allows for a far more consistent evaluation process across different hiring managers.

The part I did not expect is that the criteria stay fixed while the conversation does not. Every candidate is assessed against the same rubric, but the questions follow what the person actually says rather than running down a list. That is the difference between a structured interview and a script.

We find the shortlisting logic fairly accurate for the roles we are hiring for at the moment.

**What do you dislike about The Cognitive?**

The automated transcription can be hit or miss depending on the audio quality of the call, so we usually have to tidy the notes up afterwards.

It is good enough that we keep using it, but we do not forward a transcript without reading it first.

**What problems is The Cognitive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the issue of inconsistent interviewing. Different managers used to assess the same role in different ways and we had no way of seeing it happen.

By having every session recorded and tied to a specific scorecard, we can show every candidate was judged on the same criteria. That has improved the quality of our hires and made rejection conversations far easier to have honestly.

 ### 8. Automated Candidate Outreach That Keeps the Recruitment Pipeline Moving

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex H. | E-commerce Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through a business email account

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2026

**What do you like best about The Cognitive?**

The outreach automation and the scheduling links are the features we rely on most. They have essentially removed the manual effort involved in coordinating initial calls.

The scheduling piece is ordinary in a good way. Candidates pick a slot, the calendar updates, nobody chases a reply. What matters more is that the outreach sequences keep running in the background while we work on other roles.

**What do you dislike about The Cognitive?**

We do not currently use the sourcing or recording features, so much of the platform goes untouched by our team, which makes the navigation feel more complex than we need.

A stripped-back view showing only outreach and candidate management would suit us better than scrolling past modules we have never opened.

**What problems is The Cognitive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It eliminates the constant back and forth of trying to find a time that works for both the candidate and the recruiter.

It keeps the calendar organised and, more importantly, stops people dropping out of the process because our replies were slow. That used to cost us candidates we had worked hard to find.

**What do you like best about The Cognitive?**

What we liked most was having different parts of the hiring process connected in a single workflow. Depending on the role, we used different parts of The Cognitive, sourcing and outreach for some positions, and more of the interviewing, scheduling, and evaluation workflow for others.

The interview side was especially useful for us. Having the recording and structured scorecards available afterward made it easier for the team to review candidates and share feedback, without everyone needing to be part of every interview. The sourcing and outreach workflows were also helpful when we needed to be more proactive about building a candidate pipeline.

**What do you dislike about The Cognitive?**

There is a bit of an adjustment period when you first start using the platform, especially when deciding which parts of the workflow make sense for your hiring process. We also didn’t use every feature for every role, so some parts naturally had more value to us than others.

**What problems is The Cognitive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were mainly trying to make our hiring process easier to manage across sourcing, outreach, scheduling and initial candidate evaluation. A lot of the work involved moving between different steps and coordinating with multiple people, which could make the process slower and less consistent.

The Cognitive helped us bring more of these steps into one workflow. It was also useful to have a more structured way of reviewing interviews and candidate feedback, especially when multiple people were involved in the decision. We use different parts of the platform depending on the role, so the benefit for us has been having the flexibility to use what fits into each hiring process rather than changing everything at once.

 ### 10. End-to-End AI Recruiting Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Flora B. | Data Engineering Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Current User:** The reviewer uploaded a screenshot or submitted the review in-app verifying them as current user.

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2026

**What do you like best about The Cognitive?**

Deep coverage of the hiring workflow from candidate identification through structured evaluation and shortlisting. The ATS integration is functional and standardized scoring has improved alignment between talent acquisition and hiring managers.

**What do you dislike about The Cognitive?**

Additional configurability in the analytics module would benefit our reporting requirements.

**What problems is The Cognitive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It consolidates a fragmented recruitment process into a single workflow and reduces time-to-fill across business units.
