What I like best about Swarmia is how it makes engineering team productivity and collaboration much easier to understand. The insights are clear, actionable, and help teams identify bottlenecks, improve workflows, and stay aligned without adding unnecessary complexity.

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

What I like best about Swarmia is the visibility it provides into our GitHub pull requests and code review workflow. Its reports make it easier to understand how work moves through development, review, and merging, and to identify where delays may be occurring. Having metrics such as pull request cycle time, time in review, and time to merge gives useful context for understanding the process and spotting opportunities to improve.<br><br>The ability to explore individual pull requests alongside broader trends makes these insights particularly useful. It helps connect the overall metrics with specific examples, making it easier to investigate bottlenecks and understand why certain changes take longer to move forward. For me, the main value is having a clearer, evidence-based view of our review workflow that can support more focused discussions about improvements.

The main area I would like to see improved is the Slack notification experience. Notifications can sometimes feel noisy and repetitive, which reduces their usefulness and can make it harder to distinguish important updates from routine reminders.<br><br>Swarmia already offers settings to customize notification types, but I would appreciate a more streamlined experience with less repetition and clearer prioritization of items that need attention. Better consolidation of related updates and fewer reminders when there is no meaningful change would make the integration feel more focused. For me, the opportunity is to keep the visibility into ongoing work while reducing the amount of notification noise in Slack.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Swarmia helps us understand where our engineering workflow can improve. Its reporting on GitHub pull requests and code reviews gives us visibility into how work progresses and where delays occur. Metrics such as pull request cycle time and time in review make it easier to identify potential bottlenecks and give us a concrete starting point for discussing improvements.<br><br>The developer experience surveys have also been particularly valuable for our engineering teams. They helped surface issues that engineers already recognized in their day-to-day work but had not explicitly raised. Providing a structured way to share feedback helped turn those individual observations into visible areas for improvement. This gives us a clearer understanding of the challenges engineers face and a stronger basis for deciding what needs attention.<br><br>For me, the main benefit is combining workflow data with feedback from the people doing the work. **What do you like best about Swarmia?**

I think the best part is that it gives me an overview of what’s happening with the software work. It also provides metrics automatically. I like using it as a sanity check for how software development is going, what to improve, and what to watch out for. They’re also pretty active in creating software development content around productivity, leadership, and similar topics.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Only the team-wide activity log includes those weight points, but the author page doesn’t have them. Another minor issue is that you have to acknowledge which metrics are important—for example, some metrics might not mean anything in your current workflow.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps surface potential blockers early, as well as longer or riskier pieces of work. I like that it shows some basic metrics I can use as a baseline when improving things. The CI metrics are also a nice touch, and they give me something concrete to work against when making my pipelines more efficient. Overall, it helps me mentor individual authors more effectively.

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Some statistics are difficult to get from sources other than Swarmia—for example, cycle time and PR-related summaries like review time and batch size. In Swarmia, though, these stats are easy to find in the menu and presented in a clear way. Swarmia summarizes PR and JIRA stats quite nicely together.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

I’d like to cross-reference some stats together in a graphical form, but with Swarmia I can’t do that. The AI bot also claims there are features that I don’t seem to have, like exporting data. The workaround I tried to get the data through the AI chat was clumsy.

Another downside is that the AI bot feels a bit dumb. I asked about MCP integration and it said it couldn’t help. But when I asked for alternatives for data export, it casually mentioned MCP as one (last) option. After that, I found your support page about MCP setup. It was a bit vague, but with help from my own Copilot (and our organization admin to create token me that I could not make myself) I was able to put together a working config pretty easily.

I have some doubts about statistics taht are they accurate and if I change something in JIRA, will it reflect to swarmia (and how fast). Overally I'm bit skeptic with some data and also while juggling some stats with AI-chatbot I'm not sure should I agree with all swarmia determinations (e.g. is user made PR with help of AI if he has asked something from AI from previous day.

Oh and your AI refine in this form seems to not to see last edits if pressed multiple times like iterating response. :facepalm:

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

We're a small business with a lean Technology team and having such a feature-rich, easy to use tool with frequent enhancements at no cost that allows us to keep a pulse on how we're doing, where we need to improve, and easily report key metrics to our executive team is tremendous.  We've especially loved the new Explore Data feature to build an easy custom view we can refer back to and export for additional customization.  Being able to merge the Jira and GitHub data so easily saves multiple hours per month with executive reporting.  The support team and documentation have also come in clutch for us to leverage all the value the platform offers.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

We don't dislike anything about Swarmia.  We're excited to see what enhancements they add next to continue reducing our time spent on engineering KPIs and making it easy to answer questions about the value our team delivers

I really like the automated summaries and graphs from Swarmia, as they allow me to automatically see the balance of task types and the categories the team is working on, without having to do much more. I also notice that the integration between Swarmia and Linear is quite good. Swarmia's graphs are just what I need for my reports, which I consider great.

Well, the only issue I'm having is that not all tickets are categorized when I go to the section to see how time has been spent, whether on new features, refactoring, or maintenance and bug fixing. I have a set of bugs that appear as uncategorized and I have to categorize them manually. There is an option to auto-categorize with AI, but it's only available for paid versions, and I'm currently using the free version. Additionally, the setup and the variety of options have a medium level of complexity and I still don't fully master all the elements.

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

I like this the most because of the visual representations of projects, ticket timelines, and how easily my work can be tracked. I can see in real time which days or weeks were the most productive without needing to generate additional reports. I also liked the AI chat feature, which management can use effectively to identify what worked and what didn’t, without having to read through a lot of data, and in a straightforward way.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

I don’t find the AI tools section very clear, and it isn’t particularly easy to understand. Also, the free package only includes five developers (or something like that), and I think the trial period is quite short to demonstrate meaningful value for a company. It could be closer to one month. I’ve had good previous experience with Swarmia and even pushed management to use it—I gave a presentation about its features—but I found the trial time ran out too fast. Because of that, I struggled to convince management to move forward with a subscription.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Swarmia helps me keep track of my tickets and gives me a clear overview of both the team’s performance and my own. It makes my day-to-day work easier thanks to the Slack integration, because I don’t have to keep checking GitHub or my email to stay on top of workflows, PRs, and tickets.

focus on simple metrics like number of PRs, review velocity etc. PRs are very different and by looking at the raw numbers only almost never the answer. Hand it to rookie EM and they will come to product teams asking why velocity degraded, as if number alone is the goal.

Managing Github notifications, Swarmia messages in Slack are always a signal, never noise. This feature alone makes Swarmia worth it.

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

The simple clean interface makes viewing and reading data about your team easy to understand. The correlation between survey and metrics is a nice touch. The support team is incredibly responsive and supportive helping when issues arise or being reseptive to suggestions and feedback The platform works smoothly in most cases for team level reports

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Some dashboarding feel too presscribed on how we should view our data, although with recent new features from the custom questions and swarmia AI, with personalised dashboards it is improving in this area. I want to see more integrations between survey data and metrics with a more intelligent correlation. When using large data sets for multiple teams, some dashboard features don't work well or at all. The team level slack integration and notifications are great, however they are not customisable enough. Meaning for a support team of our version control tool, we get too many notifications as we can't selectively filter which repos our team cares about.

Swarmia has helped visualise important metrics to our engineering teams which they were overwise blind to. Due to Swarmia the buisness is making a significant push to focus on improving our engineering DORA metrics.

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

I appreciate that Swarmia measures important aspects of the software development life cycle, like how well the team is doing and what's blocking them from delivering value faster. The notifications are better than what I get with GitHub and Slack. As an engineering manager, it helps me solve problems related to continuous deployment and tracking the time from code to production. The UI is pleasant enough and I like that Swarmia focuses on the teams. It effectively shows what the team has been working on and analyzes whether we're working on too many things simultaneously.

I guess setting up the deployments is a little bit trickier. Managing environments as well. We're a company that doesn't have that much alignment on what environments are used. The definition of a production environment in Swarmia is a little bit confusing, I guess. And some filtering sometimes it doesn't seem to work.

I use Swarmia to measure how well my team is doing and identify what's blocking us. It shows our focus and keeps us aligned on goals, has better notifications than GitHub and Slack, and helps us track software development lifecycle efficiency.

Lot of charts and metrics that don't necessarily tell the story of how well the product & engineering team is performing. Also our team got much smaller and no longer use tickets, so don't use a big chunk of swarmia.

I love Swarmia because they truly understand how a tech department works and what is needed. They always iterate and listen to feedback, and their support is superb. I find the investment category split useful because it shows how our work is divided, and I value their DORA metrics and AI adoption features. The custom reports are handy, and I also found the initial setup to be very easy.

I like the consolidation of GitHub project data in Swarmia, which helps me calculate metrics to see engineering team health at a glance. The ability to measure AI-assisted PRs to understand quality drop-off versus velocity is also valuable. Using Swarmia's Slackbot to report back on metrics and working agreements is helpful. The seamless administration process of Swarmia makes it easy for me to manage.

I think the worklog is subjective because it bases on PRs merged in versus commits, so sometimes it might not accurately reflect how effective an engineer is.

All team metrics in one location between GitHub and Jira. Set up and Integration was quick and painless. Easy team configurations and even tools to narrow scope for our needs. I'm using the product every day.

I have yet to solve the separation between Dev metrics and QA metrics. I would really like to see the split between PR time in Dev vs QA. Another problem yet to solve - individual metrics. It's kind of there, but it's not quick and easy. It would be great to have a configuration tool that let me design the individual metrics I'm looking for. Very handy for annual reviews. Tagging would be nice when it comes to bugs. I'd like to see which bugs came from Productions vs UAT, etc...

We track the time to first review, so this has been very helpful to get a visual on the metrics across each and every team. Reviewing the Trends across a timeframe has really helped me determine which team needs more attention. Greater visibility on orphaned PRs. It’s pretty easy to use and straightforward to understand. It’s been very helpful for seeing what’s happening across our engineering teams, and I really like that it integrates smoothly with Linear and GitHub. I also appreciate that it can identify Cursor, Claude Code, and other AI tooling.

Nothing major, really. I do wish it were a bit easier to view individual performance, but that’s not really what this tool is meant for, per se, and it isn’t really our goal either. We're trying to understand and improve the performance of the overall team and it certainly helps us to do that.

I like the Slack integration in Swarmia, especially the way it can poke you and tell what's pending and if something is waiting for attention. It's really convenient to give reactions directly from Slack. I also appreciate the instant updates on Slack and the focus on code metrics and DORA metrics.

The pricing part of Swarmia is a concern. We're thinking of switching to other tools like PulseCheckAI because those tools are way cheaper, even though they don't come close in terms of ease. But the pricing strategy is a big plus for them.

I almost never go to app.swarmia, reason being I can never find anything from there that i want. UI is just wildly confusing and unintuitive. For example i seen graph that shows categories of my PRs few times, and I could never ever find it again. 

To be completely honest. I always end up quite pissed off when i try to find anything from app.swarmia.

I find Swarmia really useful because it provides metrics about our dev team and about GitHub Actions that we can't easily access anywhere else. The UI is quite nice and presents a large amount of data in a well-understandable and structured way. It's easy to find information and navigate between the different metrics. The initial setup was very easy, which was great for getting started quickly.

I think it would be nice to have metrics about developers. I know it's not good to compare, but still there would be interesting things. Like which repo has which 'implicit owners / most active developers'? or does a developer tend to implement more frontend or more backend? It's already possible today, but very difficult via filtering.

I use Swarmia to get metrics about our dev team, providing metrics we can't easily access elsewhere. The UI is nice and makes a large amount of data comprehensible and structured. It's easy to navigate and find information among different metrics.

The trial & onboarding experience made it easy to see what value we would get out of adopting Swarmia. A lot of useful data started to populate just by sharing access to our development tools, and there were workflows to help us identify and correct misaligned data.

We want to keep our existing development tools as the source of truth, but Swarmia also wants to be the source of truth, so it can be confusing where to make categorization adjustments. It can be tedious to skip past Swarmia's own view of a work item, to get to our existing ticketing system's view.

I like how easy it was to set up Swarmia. It's great that it offers a good list of presets, which helps us know what to focus on weekly. This feature gives our developers a top of mind focus and helps us collectively try and hit our goals for the next week. Additionally, using Swarmia, we're able to measure cycle time better, see when pull requests and issues are over the time limits, and use the agreements feature. These aspects have helped us improve our cycle time and, in turn, our development velocity.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

We do mobile app development, and it's not completely clear what we should focus on. Dora somewhat works, but due to the review times and release and deployment times, it's not necessarily the best metric. I'm still working out what the best metrics are for mobile app development, and Swarmia could better guide me in that process.

Out the box DORA metrics. Easy setup. Opinionated but flexible. 

As a CTO it allowed me to get all the metrics without much time commitment. 

Setup took less than half an hour. And then it just started working. 

Developers have loved it - it hasn't got in their way, but provided helpful insights that they've taken on board.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

The only small issue that I've come across was around adding other users to view dashboards. 

I set things up using Github accounts - which seemed intuitive. Yet the CEO and product manager don't have a Github account, so they aren't able to log in and view dashboards. 

Swarmia do have the ability to convert users to Google auth - so they've solved this problem. But this was the only point of friction that I experienced.

The onboarding experience is well guided and takes a lot of the guess work out of setting something like this up. Especially the integrations with the various engineering tools to bring all the data into the one place. The implementation was straight forward and provided a large number of insights out of the box.

There are some defaults that Swarmia don't make obvious, so it was a little tricky identifying areas in our CI/CD that are custom, where we could improve the process to help the tool work better for us. Not a massive issue, we just wanted to get the most out of Swarmia and when the initial numbers didn't look right, we had to track it down within our pipeline manually to find the discrepancies.

I find the user onboarding process for developers challenging. When I invite new developers, they often do not understand what Swarmia is for and what we can accomplish with it. The initial instructions or introduction is unclear, which makes it hard for them to grasp how to proceed. The lack of a clear, initial invitation process exacerbates this issue, especially if the invitee is not part of the GitHub organization, as it prevents them from logging in. Additionally, it would be more convenient if involvement in the GitHub organization was not a requirement because I have many external contributors for different branches, which complicates managing access. Currently, I have to add all developers to the organization, which is not ideal.

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Swarmia has been useful both within our engineering team as well as across the wider business, giving us useful metrics with which to frame our productivity and efficiency. We utilise the Categorisation and DORA metrics extensively. It is also great when engineers are onboarding as we can monitor their fit with the rest of the engineering team. It also allows us to spot problems in our engineering workflow.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Must be careful not to be too metric focused, which is a drawback of any tool like this. Categorisation is very useful, but it has taken us a while to find the right filters based on how we use Linear to get everything categorised correctly. Sometimes to find the data you need it can require a bunch of clicking around drilling down into menus.
