"SUSE Multi Linux Manager: powerful, but with a very steep learning curve"
What do you like best about SUSE Multi-Linux Manager?

What I like most about SUSE Multi Linux Manager is the convenience of having everything in one place. Being able to manage multiple different Linux distributions without having to jump from one system to another is great. It gives a sense of control and organization that makes daily life much easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SUSE Multi-Linux Manager?

What I don't like is that it could be simpler to use. At first, it's a bit confusing, there are many options, and the interface is quite "corporate." It takes some time to get the hang of it and understand everything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Unified and Efficient Way to Manage Multiple Linux Distributions"
What do you like best about SUSE Multi-Linux Manager?

This tool allows for centralized management of multiple Linux distributions through a single, unified interface. It greatly streamlines administrative tasks like patch management, configuration updates, and system monitoring across various environments. The dashboard is user-friendly and offers clear visibility into all systems, which helps maintain compliance and security and Implementation is easy. Its automation capabilities save considerable time and minimize manual errors, resulting in more efficient and consistent Linux infrastructure management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SUSE Multi-Linux Manager?

Setting up this product for the first time and integrating it across various Linux distributions can be quite complex and may take considerable time, particularly for organizations that lack extensive experience with centralized Linux management. Some of the more advanced features might also demand extra training or specialized knowledge to utilize them efficiently. Furthermore, the customization options and integration with third-party tools could be improved in terms of user-friendliness, as new users may find the navigation less intuitive at times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Stefan Behlert of SUSE Multi-Linux Manager

Thanks for your review!

We will be adding more training and education material in our offering, esp. for our 5.x series were quite some changes are done compared to 4.3.

If you have concrete proposals how to improve the intuitiveness of the navigation, we would be glad to hear those. We intend to have some re-work there for 5.3 and are collecting input for this.

"Reliable and Efficient Linux Management Solution"
What do you like best about SUSE Multi-Linux Manager?

SUSE Multi-Linux Manager is reliable, easy to use, and saves a lot of time with its automation features. The implementation was straightforward, making it easy to get started, and I use it frequently in day-to-day administration. Integration with other tools is smooth, and the support and documentation are very helpful. Highly recommended! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SUSE Multi-Linux Manager?

While SUSE Multi-Linux Manager is very reliable and easy to use, the initial setup can take some time to fully configure, and a few advanced features could benefit from more detailed examples or documentation. These are minor issues compared to the overall ease of implementation, frequent use, and smooth integration with other tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Stefan Behlert of SUSE Multi-Linux Manager

"SUSE Multi-Linux Manager makes it easier to make our systems more secure"
What do you like best about SUSE Multi-Linux Manager?

SUSE Multi-Linux Manager makes it easy for us manage patching for hundreds of systems running more than a dozen flavors and versions of Linux. We can easily see the status of our systems, apply updates, and schedule reboots. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SUSE Multi-Linux Manager?

Major version upgrades of SUSE Multi-Linux Manager are disruptive to those trying to install or update packages on managed systems. Unlike minor updates, these upgrades require a lot of planning and preparation, and deep understanding of the MLM product, or you'll have more disruption than necessary. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Huw Wigley of SUSE Multi-Linux Manager

Thank you for your review.

We're delighted to be able to support you in managing so many differerent flavors of Linux.

"Simplified centralized management for all Linux distributions"
What do you like best about SUSE Multi-Linux Manager?

I use SUSE Manager to manage our fleet of Linux servers and workstations. It’s a very easy to install and a fast way to deploy updates and monitor the overall health of the systems, as well as to use it for inventory purposes.

One of its strengths is the native integration with Ansible and other tools that help ensure security compliance, such as OpenSCAP. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SUSE Multi-Linux Manager?

Once it’s installed, it’s very easy to use, but the learning curve and the initial deployment on servers aren’t easy. However, this can be made simpler with the help of Ansible playbooks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Stefan Behlert of SUSE Multi-Linux Manager

Thanks for your review!

We are ongoing to improve the Ansible support in Multi-Linux Manager, as well as emphasizing with our tool support the ability for companies to stay compliant.

"SuSE Manager to manage multiple linux systems"
What do you like best about SUSE Multi-Linux Manager?

Caching the updates so we are able to update on the local network saving us lots of time. Ability to check for vulnerabilities using the in GUI. The vulnerability reporting has been more accurate than our Qualys implementation. Using salt to administrate servers is a huge game changer. We were able to deploy the proxy using kubernetes which is a huge win for us. Our team uses this tool every single day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SUSE Multi-Linux Manager?

The patching features could be built out a bit more to add a schedule for patching and automatic reboot afterwards. Perhaps adding states for before and after patching to help with the application layer and allow it to be unattended. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Huw Wigley of SUSE Multi-Linux Manager

Thank you for your feedback.

We aim to simplify the management of your IT infrastructure, saving you time and giving you the confidence that your Linux environment is secure and compliant.

Your suggestion of patching features has been shared with our teams too.

SUSE Multi-Linux Manager is the definitive solution for software management across complex Linux infrastructures. It simplifies managing diverse Linux distributions from a single console, automates patching and updates, and provides comprehensive real-time monitoring. This centralization reduces manual work and helps keep systems secure and compliant at scale. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The learning curve is steep, especially for those not familiar with Linux software management. The platform focuses exclusively on Linux, which may limit its usefulness. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"One tool to rule them all"
What do you like best about SUSE Multi-Linux Manager?

SUSE Manager is a great tool for administration of many Linux servers, not only from SUSE family. It's helpful in daily administration work. Possibility to manage repositories, patches, lifecycle management, deployment, and automatization of all is very nice option. Preparing as container provide easy installation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SUSE Multi-Linux Manager?

Maybe it's not the easiest tool at beginning, but time spent on learning, returns very fast. It's a pity, that the tool extending is not possible by lack of add-on support. In some cases is not so easy to fully understand documentation and sometimes, vendor manuals have a bug. The container-based installation model made any customization harder to support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Huw Wigley of SUSE Multi-Linux Manager

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

With Multi-Linux Manager, we give you the confidence to manage any Linux, anywhere, at scale. We will look at our documentation to ensure we make this easier for customers to deploy.
