There is not much that I dislike about Summit Application Hosting. This remote access software has been a great solution for our business. With multiple offices across the United States, it allows me to securely log in from virtually anywhere and easily access the company data, files, and systems I need. The biggest drawback is how disruptive it can be when the system goes down or experiences connection issues. If I were to raise one point, it would be the paperwork around adding or removing users and features. Forms have to be completed and submitted, and the process moves at its own pace rather than mine. Hardly grounds for complaint, still less for looking elsewhere, though a self-service panel would spare me a step when someone joins or leaves. Being able to create or disable an account myself the moment someone joins or leaves, adjust their access to particular applications, and see current users and licenses at a glance would remove the wait on a form and let me close off access immediately when a departure happens at short notice. As a Data Analyst at Web Werks Data Centers India, I used Summit Application Hosting with a 12 person team. We used it for our hosted applications and remote access and getting everyone into the same setup was pretty straightforward. The applications ran well even when several people were logged in together. I rarely noticed any slowdown and the connection stayed steady while we were handling our regular workload. The only small thing I had to get used to was where a few settings were located. Once I knew my way around the interface felt pretty natural. I especially liked being able to get to the hosted applications and user access without digging through too many screens. Day-to-day, it feels secure(with 2 MFA) when logging in. The server is consistently dependable. They installed this "Summit Client Utility" program and I love it. I can restart my own server, and fix many other issues, even issues on QuickBooks. They don't use AI in their server that I know of. Quickbooks Desktop integrated well to this server. It is faster than when we used QB Desktop on our local computers. They have these tools called Master Add Forms and I love it. I can go online and within 3 minutes, set up more CPUs, memory storage, a new user, add 2MFA to a user, anything. It is convenient. I also love how fast they respond to customer support emails. I dislike how much money it costs to have a good amount of storage. Summit Hosting does not teach us how to clean up storage space. I had to ask them, they do it for you which is good but sometimes I want to be taught how to do it myself rather than emailing for each incident. Summit Hosting wants their customers to buy more and more storage and computer tools like RAM or CPUs. It increased my monthly cost by near 100% now that I have added a good amount of storage, more CPUs and more RAM. I really appreciate the update management and OS hardware management features of Summit Application Hosting. It's great because hardware and software management is completely off our plate, which is a big relief for us. Also, having universal access for all accounting employees is incredibly valuable. We don’t have to deal with the day-to-day hardware and system performance or worry about constantly patching and updating the OS. Plus, not having to concern ourselves with networking infrastructure and power backup is a big advantage. The initial setup was very easy with Summit's help, and the migration went smoothly. I find it challenging that we don't have insight into the server status or backups with Summit Application Hosting. It's tough not having a way to confirm whether a backup has been run or tested for validity, which makes it hard to ensure we can restore if needed. Another issue is that we can't see the machine's performance, which is important to us. Also, reaching technical support is cumbersome since we can't call Summit directly; instead, we have to go through their ticket portal, which isn't convenient, especially for urgent issues. I find that the shared folder and redirected folder features could be more helpful, and it would be beneficial if copying files from my Mac to the cloud was easier. Right now, I sometimes have to email files to myself or use Dropbox to review them instead of simply dragging and dropping them to my Mac. This adds unnecessary steps to my workflow.
