As a beginner to Wordpress Hosting, I found the support helpful and was editting my site in no time. The CPanel was very easy to use, and transferring my info from my local-host was a snap. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I used the chat function to ask most of my questions, and would have preferred having a live person that I could talk to since I am not familiar with a lot of the technical details involved in setting up a Host, so it was a bit cumbersome for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The contractual agreement of the free hosting service states that it is entirely free. Contradictory to that Accuweb employees send you regular emails - not just once but regularly in order to coerce you into rating them on reputable review websites to push their review scores.

Basically - their "free" hosting service is a scam they use to generate positive reviews for their company. They assume that most users don't think about this and just write the reviews they ask for because they fear the prospect of losing access to their "free" wordpress hosting. I have received two prompts by Accu Web employees to write reviews within a time frame of three months. It's simply not free. No one would register for their "free service" if they stated in their terms that customers have to write 2 reviews regularly.

Bottom line: Technically good hosting service, dishonest business practices.

Just an insight: They don't just ask for such reviews once, they do it regularly to keep your account free. Think about if that's worth your time. And think about if you want to actually help them falsify ratings.

I have already left a negative review on trustpilot to which Accu Web replied that they do not employ this practice - yet they continue to do so.

I believe a company should not do something that they would openly lie about, less continue applying such a practice.

Why is this relevant? Because there are great software comanies that are doing a terrific job that gain real reviews from users that are not incentivized, worse yet, coerced into leaving positive reviews. Such business practices as employed by Accu Web obscure the purpose of a review basically rendering review websites useless as a real reference for users. It's not ethical and simply terrible practice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The free WordPress hosting with your own domain is wonderful. There don't appear to be any major limitations for a small website without a lot of traffic, as they allow sFTP access, access to up to 10 databases and PHP source code access. They helped me install an SSH key so that my website uses HTTPS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

They do require you to submit some reviews to keep the free service, which they should state on their website, but do not as of today. Their website indicates the free account has WHM access, but it actually only has cPanel. That is enough for most things, but be aware of it. As you would expect for a free account, there is no technical support, so make sure you have some WordPress background. You also need to pay for your domain registration, but it doesn't have to be with AccuWeb. I went ahead and paid for domain registration with them as a thank you for the free hosting, though.
