For the past few months, I have been using Submagic, and editing has become much easier for me. Adding B-rolls to shorts is now incredibly simple, and the fonts support a variety of animation design formats that look great. Cutting videos and setting up transitions is also very straightforward. While the shorts are ready, sometimes the process gets stuck when exporting videos due to server issues. This is something they should address to make the user experience much faster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I was pumped to try Submagic. The free trial lasted about as long as it takes to make a cup of coffee, because they put the features I wanted to test behind a pay wall.

So I hit “buy” and oops, clicked the wrong annual plan.

No biggie, right? I paid for the correct monthly plan a minute later and asked support to swap the first charge or just refund it.

Here’s what happened next:

Friendly “We’ll forward this to accounts!” email. Cool.

Radio silence.

Follow-up: “We don’t do refunds. Ever. You already used the trial.” (Total trial time for me: maybe 20 minutes.)

Link to a refund policy hidden in the fine print I never agreed to on sign-up.

So in under 24 hours I owned two plans I didn’t want, zero flexibility, and a canned apology. Submagic may sell “magic,” but their customer-care playbook is pure vanishing act.

Pros? The rep used nice emojis.

Cons? Everything else: no clear refund notice at checkout, no grace period, no real conversation about fixing a brand-new customer’s mistake nor refunding and hiding refund policy that says: "Please, keep in mind that you accepted this policy in the GCU (General Conditions of Use) section when you created your account🙏" but trust me you'll not find it whicle creating your account.

If you’re thinking of subscribing, double-check the plan and kiss that money goodbye if you mis-click.

My advice: spend your cash with a company that remembers software is service, not a trapdoor or a digital product that I get to keep to warrant a no refund policy.

Lesson learned: read every policy (even the invisible ones that I didn't agree on somehow) and support businesses that treat first-timers like future fans, not sunk costs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like most is the one-click caption feature and the ability to choose from multiple caption styles. Adding B-rolls and audio is also very convenient, making it easier to create videos or reels that have a better chance of going viral. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

First of all, I really loved Submagic's overall feature set. It has all the tools you need, from amazing captions to AI-powered features to create solid short-form videos effectively.

Secondly, it has a simple user interface, so even beginners can easily navigate and learn all the key features quickly.

Furthermore, I experienced highly accurate captions, so I only needed to make minimal manual changes.

Also, Submagic offers numerous options to customize the captions.

When it comes to the cons of Submagic, my first issue is its limited Free / Trial plan. While it has some advanced features, the exported videos will include the Submagic logo.

Now, everyone on our team feels like a video editor thanks to this software. It's a great tool, offers excellent value, and the pricing is reasonable. Previously, editing a single reel would take us days, but with submagic, we just upload the video and it automatically transcribes, adds subtitles, B-rolls, music, and even applies zoom in and zoom out effects along with transitions. I especially appreciate the feature that automatically inserts famous movie scenes and memes, which used to take us hours to find on our own. Recently, Submagic introduced AI-generated thumbnails with a feature called Thumbmagic, which really feels like the final piece we needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Not even sure where to begin, but let's just say from software to the customer service if submagic had a crypto coin I would be ALL IN.

I no longer spend 4+ hours editing 1 reel, and can now film and edit reels daily within 1 hour without sacrificing on any quality.

I can only see submagic getting better, but the current state of customer service and support is honestly world class. Especially if you come across Stefan - watch out as he knows how to diffuse and resolve issues as a true professional.

Of course being the first tool of it's kind there were a few glitches or more so teething issues (minor export issues), but the speed and care provided to resolve or handle any issues is exemplary. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The trimming and auto-captions features on Submagic work wonders! Just the fact that it identifies all the silences and that I can easily remove them with 1 click saves me so much time. Submagic makes video editing so much easier and faster. I love how it lets me trim the video before editing the captions without me jumping back and forth between different video editing apps The templates and editing features like b-rolls, stock images, transitions, and auto-zooms make my videos look great with little effort. Adding sound effects and music is super easy, and the tool even generates descriptions and hashtags for me. It's very user-friendly, even if you're not tech-savvy.
