Stock music websites provide catalogs of royalty-free and/or purchasable audio-based media. Stock music can be used in marketing collateral and creative projects to add an auditory component to visual content. Many stock photo websites will also provide stock music and stock footage as well.

Stock music websites provide licenses for media use elsewhere. On sites where users are required to pay for stock music use, websites will either charge per track or a subscription fee. Some stock footage websites will offer royalty-free music in addition to their paid content, but other websites' stock music is completely free.

To qualify for inclusion in the Stock Music category, a product must:

Provide licensable and/or royalty-free audio
Store, curate, and categorize an audio catalog
Allow users to bookmark and sort audio
