It's a relational database, so the spec data and supplier data can be sorted, connected, and visualized as desired, enabling admins and users to manage and use the data. It's like the Lego store sorting the pieces by colors, sizes, and shapes and therefore helps you find your pieces more easlilys and enables you to build what's in your imagination (reports and dashboards). **What do you dislike about Specright?** The limitation Specright has is that the platform is built on the Salesforce cloud, but that's also actually a strength for Specright. I say it's a limitation because there are limits to how Specright can customize the architecture for your company's data, but Specright can quickly pull readily-available modules from Salesforce to build the desire architecture for their customers' data. I am aware that Specright also partners with different 3rd-party solution providers and integrate different services together as a system solution for their customers. **What problems is Specright solving and how is that benefiting you?** - Digitizing spec data improves the management of information and product quality management. Also, cross-functional team members now can access to the same information. - Specright demolished the information silos that existed for the different quality managment programs. By integrating the data (relational database), we can provide Spec Compliance Reports/Feedback to suppliers quicker (efficiency gain). Suppliers receive nearly immediate feedback on spec compliance as soon as their data is processed into our database and checked agains spec standards. Prior to its implementation, we used multiple excel shared docs and couldn't track the revisioning on anything. Gone are those days! We are now in full control of our data and can effortlessly run reports when needed. **What do you dislike about Specright?** Potential downsides: honestly, the Salesforce user authenticator gets a bit tedious (which necessitates logging in each and every time), and signs you out after time-lapsed inactivity. We had fractured information repositories and now they are unified under the single banner of Specright. They listen ( really listen) and offer advice and solutions to help us make our program exactly what we need and more! Nick , Jon , Adam and Ken make the experience fun. Specification creation, tracking and maintenance can be tiresome and time consuming. Specright is certain to make that work a better and more accurate experience for us all. It is 2023 and Specright has delivered as promised. The anticipated purpose has expanded beyond original scope to include several departments and uses. Learning new capabilities and how they can benefit our company has been fun and productive. My favorite thing is being able to customize as needed without being an IT guru. The support staff at Specright are easy to talk to and really do their best to make the program whatever WE need, even if it is something unique. **What do you dislike about Specright?** The initial transfer and architecture was and is a bit stressful. Specright has so much to offer it is hard to isolate the right areas to start. I am anticipating a lot of “hey why did your department get this and not us”! User interface is fairly intuitive, database is very comprehensive. First time launching a platform like this for myself at a company so it has been a learning curve. Creating new versions of specifications and how they are all linked, cannot see specific names/version numbers, can't do where used reports, etc. It's almost there...like 70% there...but the 30% is the part that makes it easy to use, and that's just not there. **Recommendations to others considering Specright:** Consider your platform needs and expectations in reasonable detail before selecting a specification management service. We currently have an extensive database of drawings with pricing associated, but those files do not live in the same document. We drafted our high-level business requirements and conducted online investigations for "fit for purpose application" to manage our large and growing packaging database. By "manage" we mean the lifecycle of packaging for finished goods. Since we are in FMCG - confectionery manufacturing, with 300 product lines, high-quality branding on packaging is crucial. While on the Specright website, we online "chatted" with Zach, and raised a number of questions. Zach was able to answer many of the questions, plus facilitated answers for the rest. Zach got Daniel involved to provide an overview of the Specright system. This was followed by deep-dive presentation with Daniel and Adam. We were impressed with Adam's in-depth understanding of packaging and his excellent detailed knowledge of the Specright system. After further presentations to Whittaker's Management and key stakeholders, we selected Specright to deliver "our" solution. There was no overt "selling", which we as Kiwi's really appreciated. And we really appreciated that everyone at Specright went outside normal US business hours to fit in with our NZ time. The commercial agreement between Whittaker's and Specright was straightforward and we moved swiftly into the project. The initial PM assigned left soon after starting the project. This was disappointing, but we moved on. Sasha was assigned as PM, and immediately took charge of the engagement, providing good leadership based on a good knowledge of pacjkaging, of the Specrght system (she is an ex-user), and of the implementation methodology and tools. She is very professional and patient with us "new-bees". The implementation project was very successful, and the transfer to Support (Nick) has been smoth. We now have a firm basis for extending the system into Ingredients Specifications. **What do you dislike about Specright?** A couple of minor complaints: Partway through the implementation project, Sasha told us that she had been assigned to another project and someone else would take over. This was a nasty surprise to us, and we complained in the loadest terms to Daniel and Adam. Carrie got involved, and Sasha was reinstated - whew! Initial invoicing was awkward - there is a feeling that Specright need to understand International transactions better. And adding new users is slow and cumbersome. We don't really understand why we cannot do it electronically with immediate effect, without having to involve Daniel, who probably has better things to do with his time. **Recommendations to others considering Specright:** Be very clear about your requirements, even if they can be adjusted to suit the solution's characteristics. Make sure you clearly understand the Specright terminology, implementation methodology (agile) and tools - they may not be familiar to you, so it is important to ask questions and seek clarification. This will make the whole process more straightforward and therefore, with greater chances of successful implementation. But, above all, be cooperative with Specright staff and enjoy the journey! **What problems is Specright solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are managing the life-cycle of packaging from creation through changes with version control. This provides a "single version of the truth" for Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing Production, Engineering, Procurement and Warehousing. And for sharing with Customers and Suppliers. This ensures that very costly mistakes (such as wrong labeling) leading to rejection by Customers of the delivered product are almost totally avoided. Packaging specification is a key part of the NPD process, so we have built our Specright system he NPD review and approval process and workflow. This is much more efficient than the previous manual method. Specright provides the support I need to get it implemented. Each BU has its own quirks and requests, and Specright has been excellent to work through all these unforeseen challenges. Their product is intuitive and easy to teach to new users. Onboarding has been a breeze. **What do you dislike about Specright?** There are improvements to be made such as the history section is not always as clean and as integrated as I would like. However, Specright is currently in the process of amending those areas of weakness. My biggest compliment is that they know they have holes in their game, and they are actively pursuing ways to improve. They listen to feedback and improve rapidly. **What problems is Specright solving and how is that benefiting you?** From my point of view, my companies biggest problem is finding the data they need. Information is sometimes not there. It is not complete or even correct. While many spec systems take a week or more of training to use effectively, anyone who regularly uses a computer can navigate the Specright interface. This means that you don't need to be a superuser to pop into Specright, find what you need and be back to work. **What do you dislike about Specright?** While large and midsize companies have no trouble justifying the cost of Specright, it could be a barrier to smaller companies or those who have yet to see the real value of a well-managed spec system. **What problems is Specright solving and how is that benefiting you?** Specright is allowing us to do 3 things better than we did in the past. First, we use it to compare the cost of packaging materials such as corrugated or honeycomb. Second, we use it to reduce the proliferation of duplicative specifications. With SpecRight our company has become more digitized and productivity has increase. We use SpecRight for Purchasing, Global Specifications, Change Orders, Approval Process, Quality and Marketing and more. **What do you dislike about Specright?** There's nothing I don't like about the system or the people. Everyone is very helpful and the system works as I except. What I can say is the wish SpecRight has widgets for the desktop for quick task. **What problems is Specright solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before our company would take marketing proof and approve manually. Now SpecRight has made this process easier by creating a route for approval process. Within this process we can approve/reject , add comments and notes, etc.. The only true specification management system in the world! **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Rod P. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2020 **What do you like best about Specright?** To begin with, the system interface is intuitive and user-friendly. I have said to my IT colleagues, why do you keep giving us systems to use (think ERP...) that were designed for humans to hate and not want to use! Those big name ERPs were designed by humans but not for humans! Specright is right away, different. You can see the user friendly and intuitive layout from the start. Intended for human use should be on their marketing pages! Secondly, it was built to be secure. The system only works when data security is maintained and with high confidence. The system passed every test my IT team challenged it with and they were initially skeptical of cloud-based systems that are not housed on our own servers. All security protocols were met and exceeded. So it is usable and secure, but is it valuable? Can it be a tool of efficiency and effectiveness? The answer is a resounding yes! I have deployed two instances of Specright to date and both have exceeded our expectations on value to the process and the business. The system has more capability than we are using but our strategy is to grow into the system with more data, more processes, more system integrations and connections. Our pilot deployment improved cycle time of our first process by >60%. The implementation team set a goal of 50% with reservation that they could achieve that target and they blew right by it within the first few months. My summary is this, that the team was initially skeptical and resistant of this "new tool" and system, however, now they are the strongest supporter Specright. They want to accelerate the usage of additional data and process integrations. The users themselves and their happiness and delight with Specright, are the greatest measurement of success. If you want user delight, use Specright! **What do you dislike about Specright?** Specright has a lot of functionality and capabilities. You need to be prepared for the learning curve. To Specright's credit, they have access to chat help, video help, email help and tutorials. Getting the reports right can take time, but if you can learn it, they are extremely helpful and useful. **What problems is Specright solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are using the system in our product labeling development, review and approval process.
