I have been looking for a virtual phone number/forwarding service for some time. I originally used 'skype number' but the issues with that were annoying. The best things I like about Sonetel is the monthly subscription which gives you a lot of free credit per month for calls. Also it offers SMS! I can't send sms, but I can receive them which is great for receiving SMS codes. **What do you dislike about Sonetel?** Technically the SMS's are sent to your associated email address rather than the Sonetel app, but I don't care. As long as I receive them someway then I'm happy! :) **What problems is Sonetel solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am now able to have a local Australian phone number, that STILL WORKS when I am travelling. I travel a lot so that is a game changer. I can still access my Australian accounts (with SMS verification) and receive calls from Australian businesses, while in Asia, Europe etc. It's awesome!!! ### 2. We did encounter a problem after a system upgrade, which took some time to resolve. But Sonetel support is very responsive and helpful. **What do you dislike about Sonetel?** After a system update, it took quite some time to resolve our problem. **What problems is Sonetel solving and how is that benefiting you?** With Sonetel we have several phone numbers in several countries that can all be routed to IP phones, mobile phones or mobile apps. ### 4. I shot an email to their customer support and didn't think too much about it. I was surprised when one of their staff took the time to call me to personally verify my number so I didn't have to do the SMS verification. Shazia was really nice, and she even called me back after the first call was accidentally disconnected. I appreciated that. **What do you dislike about Sonetel?** I didn't like that the original SMS verification failed. But that could be due to my own carrier, and not Sonetel's fault. **What problems is Sonetel solving and how is that benefiting you?** It does what it says: Gives you a virtual number for any area code you need. Also, customer service can only be reached by email at the moment due to covid. But you can schedule a call back also. Would like to see a chat option available on their website to reach them. I would also like to be able to see a call log for my phone number in real time. **What problems is Sonetel solving and how is that benefiting you?** I was having trouble trying to get the number to ring on 2 different phone numbers simultaneously. Vikas from customer service was able to help me with this. A benefit I realized is that the premium account offers caller ID and the voicemail message can be altered. ### 8. BUT quickly deteriorates into providing terrible, dishonest service since 2017. * Totally hopeless, scam company now in 2020. I would rate them 0 star honestly, and hope they can shut for business for good soon, and stop scamming others. * Back to Skype World subscription + Skype number and no drama. [Lousy, embarrassing service] - Sonetel SIP numbers cross-in to random indian-talking calls (in India?) - you can hear indians talking in the background!! Very unprofessional especially if you have clients calling in - "WTH" - None SIP phones (CISCO phone) we tried - or iOS/Andriod SIP apps won't ring at all for inbound calls. Outbound calls works ridiculously. Only call forwarding to your landline/mobile works for inbound calls but they charge seperate cost per min! - They removed our entitlement - one free SIP number - for Premium plan without official notice nor email update, only to found out after 3 months. Totally madness and dishonest , and waste of time to work even try to work with customer service for all their crappy lousy services and bugs. **Recommendations to others considering Sonetel:** I would rate them 0 star honestly, and hope they can shut for business for good soon, and stop scamming others. **What problems is Sonetel solving and how is that benefiting you?** We gave up talking to customer service for refund (approx. USD$100) to our credit card due to dishonest service for several months - and will be terminated our Premium service and SIP numbers. ### 20. It has introductory tutorials and, in terms of costs, it is quite affordable, and it also has a free plan to try out one of its numbers at no cost. **What do you dislike about Sonetel?** The chat plug-in sometimes has issues and, in some cases, may have connection inconveniences with the sites. Another problem is that they do not have a live chat to be able to resolve issues when necessary. **Recommendations to others considering Sonetel:** The transition from another service to Jive was very easy. Activating all the phones took seconds to complete. The integration was very interesting and the system itself is very intuitive. You can always try new alternatives for your business, switching to Sonetel is easy, you can activate multiple phone numbers in seconds. The platform is very intuitive and has tutorials so you can learn to use it quickly and efficiently. **What problems is Sonetel solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our call team can be heard clearly, quickly, and easily; we use the platform to create work teams and to be able to divide the work into various interest groups. We rarely ever have to refill our business accounts' minutes. Call recording is FREE now! (Recently you were charged every call recording ontop of minutes on top of storage. They have since lifted the call recording charges and just kept a storage limit.) **What do you dislike about Sonetel?** Support isn't that great, it's hard to get into contact with somebody over there... Recently our phone number is not calling out as our number, due to partnership issues on their side, but no one has contacted us back on how to get our number transferred onto the new service, so Customer Support is a lacking side of Sonetel. Premium prices. To get premium which waives storage and you get a free number plus unlimited minutes costs $24.99/PER USER. It's sort of average, but for a small business like ours - we cannot continue at that price.
