# How do you change an email in a HubSpot Sales Hub sequence that contacts are already enrolled in?

Been looking into how you change an email in a HubSpot Sales Hub sequence that contacts are already enrolled in, and HubSpot's own help documentation answers it. Edits to an active sequence apply only to contacts enrolled after you save, so contacts already in the sequence keep the earlier version unless they're unenrolled and then re-enrolled at their next scheduled step. The Re-enroll option on the sequence summary page doesn't carry the edits over, and for a fix that affects only a few people, a scheduled sequence email can be edited for one contact from their record.

This comes up most when a typo or a change in messaging is spotted after a sequence is running, and people on G2 describe pausing and rebuilding as their fallback, often without knowing the per-contact route exists. In CRM outreach, keeping enrolled contacts on the version they started with is a reasonable default, since nobody receives a sequence that changes shape halfway through. Sequences themselves are among the features people rate highest, for consistent follow-up, email tracking and templates that save hours.

Knowing the unenroll and re-enroll route before launch probably saves most of the rebuilding.

How do you handle a mistake caught halfway through a sequence? And do you send a new sequence to a small group before enrolling everyone?

Didn't know you could edit a scheduled sequence email for one contact from their record. That's going to save me a few rebuilds.
