It was very fast and easy to get the addresses reviewed. Additionally, the depth of returned material was nice. It is great to know more about addresses, why they may be invalid or their status in addition to just correcting the physical material. Smarty returned in depth material, but upon review some of the invalid addresses returned were simple errors of formatting. For example, 123MAIN STREET was deemed invalid. Upon investigation and re-running, 123 MAIN STREET was valid. It was minorly frustrating to have several errors, such as BOB CAT versus BOBCAT, or RED BUD versus REDBUD, completely throw the system off. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love how easy it was to set up Smarty. The API was the quickest and most user-friendly integration in our entire stack. Since we use it every day, the reliability and simplicity have been fantastic. There are also many valuable use cases we can support with it. We are a volunteer organization that has approximately 2500 members. Quarterly we send out newsletters to our membership via snail mail. Somehow I was roped into helping with mailings since I take care of our online membership and website. I was looking for a rather simple web based program that could verify address since our membership list has address that are approximately 30 years old. With the new bulk mailing rules/process USPS uses we needed something to verify these address and be able to fix them if needed. Smarty was the best option. It is not perfect, but it works to verify and even gives changes to address when needed. We went from approximately 300 address being kicked out by USPS to approximately 20-30 now. With bulk mailing you pay whether it is delivered to an address or not. Smarty definitely saved us money the first few mailings. The best part of Smarty is that I think they are one of the only companies that never tried to upsell us. As a not for profit volunteer organization money can be a bit tight some days.... Their CS, Sales and Support teams are very good at communicating if we have any questions or issues. They provide good API documentation and can accommodate both address auto-complete and validation requirements for the US and International addresses. There are some inconsistencies with the accuracy of validations for different countries. There are also quite a lot of detail passed through the API so it's a bit difficult to know how strict we should be with our address validation. If they offered best practices or different "levels" of validation, that would be great. I really appreciate how Smarty's API is organized to deliver precisely the type of address and place data I need. Compared to other APIs, such as Google, it is much more developer-friendly. Honestly, if you work extensively with addresses, Smarty can feel somewhat pricey, particularly when it comes to the autocomplete API. Striking the right balance between a responsive user experience and the number of API calls is challenging, and it's easy to hit your usage limits, even during development.
