What is Sisense, and what problem is it built to solve?

Sisense is an API-first analytics platform built to embed in-context analytics within applications. It helps businesses turn data into action-oriented insights and support decision intelligence.

What languages does Sisense support?

Sisense supports 11 languages, including Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, and others.

What company sizes and industries is Sisense the best fit for?

Positive use is concentrated in mid-market organizations, with small businesses and enterprises also represented. The industries with the strongest presence include software, information technology, and financial services, alongside healthcare and marketing.

How long does it take to implement Sisense across a team?

Implementation most commonly takes 1–3 months, though the time to go live varies with the deployment and setup. Other reported ranges include:
Time to go live Relative frequency
1–3 months Most common
Under 1 month Also reported
3–6 months Also reported
6–12 months Less common
More than 12 months Less common

What customer support options does Sisense provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Sisense provides support through email/help desk, chat, and self-service resources such as its knowledge base. The experience can be strong, especially during onboarding and when support staff are responsive and knowledgeable, but users also encounter slow resolution, uneven follow-through, and occasional difficulty getting complex issues addressed.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Sisense from another tool?

Switching to Sisense has often been about bringing analytics into an application, combining data more flexibly, or giving teams more control over dashboards. Moves from tools such as Tableau and Power BI, along with other BI and reporting platforms, were associated with a more customizable embedded experience, easier data blending, or improved performance and pricing; the transition itself can still require technical effort and adjustment.

What tools and platforms does Sisense integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

Sisense offers 15 integrations. Users describe connections spanning data warehouses and databases, business applications, and developer or collaboration tools:
  • Data warehouses and databases: Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, and SQL Server.
  • Business applications: Salesforce.
  • Developer and collaboration tools: Git and Slack.
These connections help bring data from separate systems into shared models and dashboards, and support embedding analytics into existing applications and workflows.

What features or capabilities could make Sisense even more useful?

Sisense could be more useful with a broader set of built-in reporting and customization options, and with less reliance on scripting for common changes. Recurring improvement requests include:
  • Add more built-in chart types and richer visualization and formatting controls.
  • Make dashboard and widget customization easier for users who do not write code.
  • Improve reporting flexibility, including scheduled exports and more precise controls over what gets sent.
  • Expand self-service data modeling so business users can prepare datasets with less engineering help.

"User-Friendly and Functional, Needs More Features"
4/5
What do you like best about Sisense?

I like that Sisense is a very good tool and really user-friendly. It's simple and easy to use, which makes the clients happy. Designing logical data models and dashboards is easy with Sisense, and it allows us to implement whatever the client asks. It's really helpful in improving user feedback and meeting client requirements. The Sisense support team was also very helpful in setting everything up smoothly. The tool also helps us to look into the data in a more clear way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sisense?

Sometimes Sisense is a bit slow and some functionalities, like some widgets, get blocked. For example, the scatter map doesn't always work as needed, and the date filter can be problematic. Also, we want more functionalities similar to other BI tools to get more insights from the data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Straightforward UI, Seamless Integrations, and Helpful Support"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Sisense?

The UI/UX is straightforward and easy to use, both for building dashboards and for creating or modifying Elastic Cubes. Integrations have worked seamlessly for our organisation. Support is readily available, and there’s also a solid amount of documentation online when we need it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sisense?

Performance is the only real gripe I have with Sisense. Cube builds don’t perform well when they’re handling heavy data loads. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast In-Memory Elasticubes, But UI and AI Integrations Need Work"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Sisense?

Elasticubes offload the data processing from our database onto the Sisense instance and the fact that it's in memory makes it fast. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sisense?

UI-wise it doesn't seem that great. AI integrations are limited. Elasticubes building can take up a lot of resources. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive BI with AI fearures"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Sisense?

I like that Sisense is easy to be used by non-technical users. The dashboard design is really user-friendly and intuitive. I also like the AI features they're introducing. I like the scalability in Kubernetes deployment. The initial setup of Sisense was really simple. The documentation was really rich and accurate, and the startup time was really short. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sisense?

I don't like that the Windows version is no longer evolving. We have customers that are not able to switch to Linux and Kubernetes, so they have limited features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy Dashboard Build and Deployment, but Limited Visualisation Options"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Sisense?

It’s relatively easy and straightforward to build, test, and deploy dashboards that are both helpful and informative. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sisense?

There aren’t many data visualisation options available, and more advanced functionality often requires using scripts to make full use of it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Seamless White-Label Embedded Analytics That Scales with Us"
5/5
What do you like best about Sisense?

We've been using Sisense for a few years now to embed analytics directly into our platform and the experience has been really positive. The ability to white-label dashboards and integrate them into our own product via the Compose SDK means our customers get a seamless analytics experience that feels native to what we've built. The flexibility to work with both live connections and ElastiCube models has been really valuable as our data architecture has evolved. The AI features like natural language querying are something our users genuinely get excited about. It's a platform that has scaled well with us and the support team has been responsive whenever we've needed them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sisense?

Like any complex platform, there is a learning curve when you first get started, particularly around data modelling and the initial setup of embedded environments. Some of the more advanced configurations can take time to get right, and it's worth investing in onboarding properly to get the most out of it early on. Documentation has improved a lot over the years, but occasionally you need to dig a little deeper or lean on support for more niche use cases. These are fairly minor points for a platform of this depth and they haven't taken away from the overall experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive Interface and Flexible Integration Elevate Our Analytics"
5/5
What do you like best about Sisense?

I love the polished and intuitive user interface of Sisense. The integration capabilities are impressive, ranging from non-embedded options to iframes and an SDK that we can leverage in our application. The 'compose SDK' is well documented and provides easy-to-follow examples for integrating within a React application. It's great that we can build Sisense into our product and offer useful information directly through the app. The transition from Exago to Sisense was pretty easy, and having a Jasper Reports plugin for legacy reports that need to be pixel-perfect is a great asset. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sisense?

The elasticache feature is probably our least used feature because of the way our databases need to be queried and cross database schemas joined together. It isn't supported in the elasticube. We tried to use the build for RedShift that leverages elasticube, but we eventually stopped using it altogether. Another area for improvement would be with the Git integration. Initially, it seemed like what we needed, but our engineers decided it does not fit our needs. It seems more geared towards people with a staging Sisense deployment and a production, whereas we only have one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Data Combination and Manipulation, in a Polished Package"
4/5
What do you like best about Sisense?

Caching data using Elasticubes gives the ability to stack multiple data and columns on top of each other, allowing for complex custom data pulling from many different areas than software directly querying your data. Being able to connect to many different sources helps bring data together. Our customers really like the look and feel of Sisense. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sisense?

While the platform is generally stable and free of major bugs, more minor bugs do crop up with release versions and may go unresolved for multiple releases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
