What is Sisense, and what problem is it built to solve?

Sisense is an API-first analytics platform built to embed in-context analytics within applications. It helps businesses turn data into action-oriented insights and support decision intelligence.

What languages does Sisense support?

Sisense supports 11 languages, including Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, and others.

What company sizes and industries is Sisense the best fit for?

Positive use is concentrated in mid-market organizations, with small businesses and enterprises also represented. The industries with the strongest presence include software, information technology, and financial services, alongside healthcare and marketing.

How long does it take to implement Sisense across a team?

Implementation most commonly takes 1–3 months, though the time to go live varies with the deployment and setup. Other reported ranges include:
Time to go live Relative frequency
1–3 months Most common
Under 1 month Also reported
3–6 months Also reported
6–12 months Less common
More than 12 months Less common

What customer support options does Sisense provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Sisense provides support through email/help desk, chat, and self-service resources such as its knowledge base. The experience can be strong, especially during onboarding and when support staff are responsive and knowledgeable, but users also encounter slow resolution, uneven follow-through, and occasional difficulty getting complex issues addressed.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Sisense from another tool?

Switching to Sisense has often been about bringing analytics into an application, combining data more flexibly, or giving teams more control over dashboards. Moves from tools such as Tableau and Power BI, along with other BI and reporting platforms, were associated with a more customizable embedded experience, easier data blending, or improved performance and pricing; the transition itself can still require technical effort and adjustment.

What tools and platforms does Sisense integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

Sisense offers 15 integrations. Users describe connections spanning data warehouses and databases, business applications, and developer or collaboration tools:
  • Data warehouses and databases: Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, and SQL Server.
  • Business applications: Salesforce.
  • Developer and collaboration tools: Git and Slack.
These connections help bring data from separate systems into shared models and dashboards, and support embedding analytics into existing applications and workflows.

What features or capabilities could make Sisense even more useful?

Sisense could be more useful with a broader set of built-in reporting and customization options, and with less reliance on scripting for common changes. Recurring improvement requests include:
  • Add more built-in chart types and richer visualization and formatting controls.
  • Make dashboard and widget customization easier for users who do not write code.
  • Improve reporting flexibility, including scheduled exports and more precise controls over what gets sent.
  • Expand self-service data modeling so business users can prepare datasets with less engineering help.

"Most Efficient way to get Value from all of your data is to implement Sisense."
4.5/5
What do you like best about Sisense?

Sisense provides an enterprise way to consolidate, transform and visualize your data without losing collaboration activity and drill down into details. It is the most business ready solution out there in the market and that is after comparing it to Power BI and Tableau. In addition to the basic use of Sisense they have added the AI analysis of data that really allows users to focus on what the data is telling them vs in dealing with the data. With its efforts in making it easy to install and easy to use, Sisense has kept its ability to extend and provide custom interfaces via modules which are simple to create to make a true solution that fits any company. It has been amazing how we have been able to integrate Sisense across a large number of our data sources thus correlating many of our activities and bringing even more value to our day to day work. We are consistently in Sisense, monitoring dashboards and easy to view reports that provide near real-time insight into our operation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sisense?

Earlier versions were difficult to install but they have corrected much of that with their latest 2023 releases. I like that we have easy to apply updates. Some of their best support folks are overseas so there have been some late night sessions with them but they are very dedicated and driven to get to a solution. They have improved their support system and appreciate their turn around times which are much better but still more work on getting information here. Still find a few bad instructions on their documentation but have seen work done there too. There are so many variables in installing Sisense that you need to make sure you are looking at the right version with the right OS and it is hard to see what things apply to both versions MS vs Linux. Cost is always something that needs to be addressed but overall they deliver more value for the cost of the software comparably. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Massive return for a portion of time spent"
4/5
What do you like best about Sisense?

The fundamental thing is the ease of use, our customers and ourselves love the way it is straightforward in designing data sets, publishing dashboards. The overall interface is intuitive and for anyone with a little experience, they can get to grips with only a small amount of effort when compared with our similar products. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sisense?

The biggest drawback would be when updating our version of the software, in some cases the new version broke existing dashboards due to new bugs, or new ways of doing things. The other is when we do updates we have to manually apply specific settings for our installation to use the resources on the server. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jacqueline Cordell of Sisense

"Falls short compared to other BI Tools"
0.5/5
What do you like best about Sisense?

I like the customization from the standpoint of changing the fonts colors and buttons to make it consistent with our company's colors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sisense?

Falls really short compared to Power BI and Tableau. The data model view is very clunky and makes it difficult to easily understand the relationships of the data. It is missing what I consider to be basic functionality that their competing tools handle such as min(date) and max(date). I have not found a way to incorporate user inputted parameters such as a desired threshold to use in calculations without some sort of filter hack, another thing that is easy to do in Tableau or PowerBI. You cannot just do a simple case statement on a dimension without changing this in the data model. Formula syntax is clunky and weird. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Andrew Loomis of Sisense

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We appreciate your positive comments about the customization options in Sisense. We understand your concerns about the data model view and the functionality compared to other BI tools. We are constantly working to improve our platform and your feedback is valuable in helping us identify areas for enhancement.

I would like to follow up with you to gather more details about your specific needs and challenges with Sisense. Please let me know a convenient time for you to discuss further so we can address your concerns and work towards providing a better experience for you. Thank you for choosing Sisense as your analytics tool. Feel free to email csmail@sisense.com

"Years Long Partnership with Sisense"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Sisense?

We have been partners with Sisense for multiple years now. The collaboration from the CS and support teams are great, as we were able to resolve almost all of the issues that we encountered. The data modeling and database building side of the platform is intuitive and easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sisense?

Sometimes the process of resolving an issue required a lot of work from the customer side, including sending HAR files, logs, etc. I understand that in order to be able to resolve an issue, all the relevant data should be made available, but it still feels that the customer is required to invest a considerable amount of time in order to facilitate the investigation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jacqueline Cordell of Sisense

We're thrilled to hear about your positive experience with our CS and support teams. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to strive for excellence in resolving any issues you encounter. We would love to have you join our community if you haven't yet!
