"Good solution for DBM"

What do you like best?

HANA provides all the previous benefits of SAP and is a great tool for any organization in need of DBM. The notable difference is the increase in speed due to the lack of a data warehouse. Another noteworthy plus is the consistent ability to integrate tools and platforms outside the SAP environment.

What do you dislike?

As with any SAP system deployment and integration take a significant amount of type. Additional training consists of another few months. Although SAP made decent attempts with the Fiori interface, I find it quite lackluster. As a long time SAP user I strongly prefer the traditional interface for most uses.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

SAP HANA is a worthy upgrade for any enterprise already using a SAP ERP system. The main benefit with this version is the enhancement in speed and better compatibility with other software integration.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Like with previous SAP systems HANA has been used for improving our business outcomes, processes and analytics. SAP has always functioned as a great platform for an enterprise systems and has the feature set to tackle any business need.

"An elegant new platform for real time analytics and packages, SAP HANA has helped with big data"

What do you like best?

1.Instead of keeping only 'useful data' in memory, we can now keep 'all the data' in memory.

2.Also, this helps greatly in real-time insights from transaction systems including custom or SAP ERP This covers income Reporting (improving fulfillment rates and accelerating key income tactics), monetary Reporting (instant insights throughout revenue, clients, accounts payable, and so on.), delivery Reporting (higher allowing whole inventory review evaluation), purchasing Reporting (whole actual-time analysis of entire order records) and master records Reporting (actual-time capacity to effect productiveness and accuracy).

3.Predictive and textual content analysis on huge records

4. BW clients can run their entire BW software at the SAP HANA platform main to unparalleled BW performance

What do you dislike?

1. No point-in-time recovery - user errors -> deleting data accidentally

2. Insanely expensive (But with the speed comes the cost)

3. No migration back to standard RDBMS, so SAP take your flexibility away

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It is a progressive platform that’s satisfactory suited for performing actual-time analytics, and growing and deploying actual-time applications. This is essentially exclusive than every other database engine on the market today.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Mainly used for real time data analytics for large structured data in my firm.

The biggest limitation of any open-source batch-oriented processing solutions such as Hadoop is they can’t easily process data in real-time which is done by SAP HANA.

What Relational Databases solution do you use?

"Migration from Oracle Database to SAP HANA"

What do you like best?

The best part is improvement in the application / database processing speed and stability. There are others features as well which cannot be ignored - Parallel Processing, in memory storage, transaction consistency and No-SQL storage (i.e. storing data column wise)

What do you dislike?

It follows specific hardware guidelines which makes installation more expensive and cost effective. There are few other limitations or dislikes about SAP HANA like Skilled resources are required to work with SAP HANA, lack of quality data. Let me share one scenario where the server hosting the SAP HANA suddenly went down. There was a MIM (Incident Management Bridge ) call to understand the cause of the issue. Further after investigating the cause of the issue, it was found that due to multiple calculations running at the same time , system got heated up and fail-safe mechanism triggered in & server went down. Also, frequent patches are released, so we need to update the patches very frequently.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If anyone of you using any SAP application, then migrate it to SAP HANA for faster data processing.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our client has multiple SAP applications running on Oracle database which is not up to the mark. Biggest challenge is upgrading the SAP applications on Oracle database. So in order to fix this, we need to migrate the SAP applications like ERP etc to SAP HANA Cloud.

"SAP Hana is new way to manage big data at fast speed"

What do you like best?

I've been working for 2 years with this database, i liked that it can be easyly managed with sap hana studio, is a front end very easy to use, it gives you in time alerts of the health of the database, and you can manage the security of users with easy role-based and privilege system.

What do you dislike?

This database sometimes becomes with bugs if you don't have the lastest version, also it is a ram memory eater, depending of the process, you may need many memory ram for execute some processes.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

This is the new generation of database, working as flash disks and with a capacity of hot warm and cold data, the querys and consults to it can be much faster and easy to use, they have improved and now you don't have to use the index version to improve tables just as you did before with other databases, it have to be considered that its a bit expensive and you need a good and strong appliance also you can implement it on cloud, but its worth it.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I've seen that when you have a big database with large data and some SQL custom and Z-program created for specific processes, they can become very slow and the time is lost in database consulting, with sap hana this had a big improve, starting because is a flash data with SSD Disks, also with cold warm and hot data, it can be accesed quickly.

"SAP HANA new Generation Database"

What do you like best?

SAP HANA is the latest, in-memory database, and platform which can be deployed on-premises or cloud. SAP HANA is a combination of hardware and software, which integrates different components like SAP HANA Database, SAP SLT (System Landscape Transformation) Replication server, SAP HANA Direct Extractor connection, and Sybase replication technology.

What do you dislike?

Implementation and Initial Cost is very high.

Lack of quality data on the Hana database - the same data that existed on the ERP system now resides on Hana. If the data itself is not governed well, the resulting output is not reliable.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

SAP HANA (high-performance analytic appliance) is an application that uses in-memory database technology that allows the processing of massive amounts of real-time data in a short time. The in-memory computing engine allows HANA to process data stored in RAM as opposed to reading it from a disk. This allows the application to provide instantaneous results from customer transactions and data analyses.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Run time analytics, This feature is a great benefit for those who want super-fast results. This is because the data resides in the RAM. It is highly secured. Very fast computing speed.

"Future of SAP- S4 HANA"

What do you like best?

Performance of the database. Inline memory concept. The introduction of CDS views and Eclipse IDE has made the programming much easier. Eclipse IDE has lot of features which helps the programmers to code very easily. Improves many performance bottlenecks.

No need to worry about performance much while coding. All the logic which is present in the application layer now can be easliy pushed down to Database layer using the Cosh Push down strategies.

What do you dislike?

Old code needs to be re mediateded. Most of the code has to be pushed down to the database layer which means all the old standards need to be redesigned.

Most of the code has to be re written. Some of the concepts are no longer valid in HANA.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Future of SAP is S4 HANA

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Reports which used to run for hours are executed within seconds with HANA.

Performance improvements for high volume reports.

Runtime of the Batch programs is reduced.

""Great stage to expand the execution""

What do you like best?

I truly like however is simply not another database. Since we began. Utilizing it in my specialty we increment the information load time x3. The SAP HANA arrangement offers fantastic client administration, even as information volumes increase.Another ideal position that I like also is that SAP HANA is great with various databases, for instance, sql or mdx. Additionally it's easy to see how it functions.

What do you dislike?

The principle minor issue is that SAP HANA is in memory just which suggests that SAP HANA will stores each data in-memory. I figure you will find SAP HANA fairly puzzled for not having the choice to store the data in circles also. For my circumstance I don't care for the in-memory advancement.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I can advance to you about SAP HANA, the various points of interest that you will understanding by passing on the in-memory database is monster. If you oversee tremendous data then HANA is the plan interestingly in affiliations that course of action with trades or some other examination assignments, SAP HANA has wound up being one of the in-memory extraordinary databases.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

My area of expertise gave some assistance to a gathering of clients where we gave SAP HANA backing and we could help the client by unwinding a couple of obstacles, for instance, remaining up with the most recent the SAP HANA servers by settling them and fix any bug we found in the way. The client was performing business much trustworthy since it was a noteworthy client they required SAP HANA. So I significantly propose HANA exceptionally in you are in a noteworthy affiliation where you oversee immense data HANA is the methodology.

"SAP HANA integration with SQL DB"

What do you like best?

SAP HANA is the one which the integration with the SQL DB is very fast such that the functionality of the SAP HANA with the SQL DB and the data analysis will be pretty quick.

What do you dislike?

Currently we are trying to integrate the SQL DB with the SAP HANA and not sure when would I answer to this question I will definitely know once the implementation is completed

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would strongly recommend this SAP HANA other than the different kind of Databases because the integration is very fast

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are trying to solve the compatibility problems because some of the application are not integrating with the SQL and we are trying to remove all the integration problems once the integration problems are solved then we will head the SAP HANA in a right direction.

"My experience with SAP Hana !"

What do you like best?

I like SAP Hana because I can recover my data very fast and easy. I can store my financial content or I can store both value-based and expository information. Another favourable position that I like too is that SAP HANA is good with different databases, for example, sql or mdx. Also it’s very simple to understand how it works.

What do you dislike?

The main minor issue is that SAP HANA is in memory just which implies that SAP HANA will stores every information in-memory. I figure you will discover SAP HANA somewhat confounded for not having the alternative to store the information in circles as well. For my situation I don’t like the in-memory innovation.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I can forward to you about SAP HANA, the numerous advantages that you will experience by conveying the in-memory database is colossal. On the off chance that you manage huge information then HANA is the arrangement uniquely in associations that arrangement with exchanges or some other investigation assignments, SAP HANA has ended up being one of the in-memory great databases.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

My department provided some help to a group of customers where we gave SAP HANA support and we could help the customer by unravelling a few deterrents, for example, staying up with the latest the SAP HANA servers by fixing them and fix any bug we found in the way. The customer was performing business much dependable since it was a major customer they required SAP HANA. So I profoundly suggest HANA extraordinarily in you are in a major association where you manage huge information HANA is the approach.

"HANA Express - A great self learning and POC environment"

What do you like best?

The best thing that I like about HANA Express, is the ability to get a jump-start on your own development learning goals, without a time limit to constrain you, so that you can use it at your own pace. You do not even have to be a current SAP customer to take advantage of this.

This is NOT another "MINISAP" or "NSP" environment from the days past! There are great instructional videos, a healthy community of HANA experts, and familiar tooling to get you going. I applaud SAP for adopting Node for their XS Advanced runtime, and using a JavaScript engine which removes some the historical prohibitively difficult barrier of entry to overcome (ABAP knowledge, etc.)

The setup is quick and painless, unlike prior trial environments like MINISAP. You do not have to be an administrator to get going. They offer a practically turn-key VM to get going quickly.

What do you dislike?

I'd like inclusion of either Agile Data Preparation, and/or Smart Data Integration. Smart Data Access, Flow Graphs, and Stored Procedures however is a "good enough" stop-gap for this *free* system, though!

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Please keep this program alive! The fact we can use a free sandbox without worry for time limits and even for small footprint productive use is the RIGHT way to promote further HANA adoption! We are also undertaking other larger scale HANA initiatives such as BW on HANA (or BW4/HANA, depending on timing) and our exposure with some flavor of HANA gives us a jump-start on understanding the possibilities for these larger implementations without waiting on these longer timelines.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Besides self-learning so that I remain proficient personally, we've used HANA Express to load data from relational databases into it so that we can use BI client tools such as SAP Lumira, Analysis for Office, Web Intelligence, and 3rd party tools like Tableau and Power BI with HANA's Calculation Views. The performance speed and development agility in this environment versus more traditional approaches (BW Cubes or Universes) has allowed us to rapidly prototype reporting scenarios and keep our power users engaged with faster turnaround times.

"Next Gen ERP Application"

What do you like best?

Fastest ERP ever. SAP HANA achieved the fastest performance through its in-memory computing technology and column-oriented database which make it 10x times faster than any of the ERP available in the market.

What do you dislike?

SAP HANA is more expensive and has to pay for every add-on modules and every production environment development access.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you are dealing with millions of data and end up in a report without accuracy, then SAP HANA is the right solution to run your enterprise with cost and time effective.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Through SAP HANA generating the report by computing millions of data is so faster. This helps to see the report with the real-time data and helps the client to review their quarter result and to take appropriate decision.

"Good platform to increase the performance"

What do you like best?

I really like but is just not another database. Since we started. Using it in my department we increase the data load time x3. The SAP HANA solution offers high-quality customer service, even as data volumes increase.

The biggest benefits are real-time reporting and faster access. Despite some drawbacks such as the price, it means that the application is very useful and can generate great benefits in the company so do not hesitate to use it and implement it.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes is difficult to find people with the skills to manage it. Also is not cheap to implement it.

SAP HANA licenses are costly as of now. To attract more customers it should lower the license cost.

Also, the database has specific hardware requirement.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Offer different price plans to suit the budgets of different companies and their needs.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use Sap Hana to analyze data in real time using volumes of specific dats.

"SAP HANA - Next Gen Product Suite with In-Memory Capabilities"

What do you like best?

SAP HANA can handle both OLTP and OLAP processing from a single data model, so there is no need to move transaction data to a separate system. Tables in SAP HANA are automatically compressed to enable you to store huge amounts of data within very little space.A key theme of SAP HANA is parallel processing. With the new hardware architecture, especially utilizing the new multi-core processors, it ensures instant responses by spreading out the processing tasks across the cores.SAP HANA is not just a database, it is also a powerful data processing engine with many built-in capabilities that can enable organizations to develop innovative applications integrating SAP S/4HANA.

What do you dislike?

Would take some time for business user to get used to the new interface. (Learning Curve)

Cost is another factor which is a point worth consideration

Recommendations to others considering the product:

SAP HANA is far more than a database. It is an application and data management platform with a very large portfolio of capabilities that power the new innovative applications that require real-time, instant response and on any type of data regardless where the data resides in the organization.

SAP HANA takes full advantage of the recent trends in hardware evolution

"A tool par excellence for professional environments"

What do you like best?

One of the advantages of SAP is its flexibility. SAP allows my company to create its own rules within the SAP structure.

Companies determine which employees can access each zone in the SAP environment.

Only authorized personnel receive access to personal data, such as salaries.

SAP also has the flexibility to integrate your data with different databases.

What do you dislike?

One disadvantage of SAP is the high cost of purchasing and implementing the program.

The company must buy the necessary software and hardware to run the programs throughout the company.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Scalable software, that is, it offers the possibility of adapting to future changes, both technological and business processes, in such a way that the organization can grow efficiently, for medium or large companies.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Integration without problems, only the period of time was extended more than previously planned to make it work in my department. It analyzes in a very short time and presents a configuration that has changed little with time, with a sober and professional aspect.

" SAP HANA"

What do you like best?

SAP HANA is the worlds fastest and best database in the coming future due to its in-memory concept of storing the data. Also search is made through both row as well as column wise. It can search 3600 times faster than any database.

What do you dislike?

To set up SAP HANA is the biggest challenge to maintains SAP standards it require a lot of resources to setup a HANA, which makes it a lot costlier than any other database setup.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

when we have an organisation of more 1,000,000 employees and to maintain their data and also to retrieve their data in minimal seconds, it where HANA comes under picture. In Today's date people want to access their data in the moment, whether that is moment of risk or moment of opportunity. This puts IT into tough situation, because there is no practical way to instantly analyse everything that's going on relative to the business. IT can deliver some of the information. The most critical slice of the information can be delivered in near real time. But its not enough the data is growing. Demand is increasing and this is the role of SAP HANA. Using ground breaking in-memory hardware and software we can manage data at massive scale, analyse it at amazing good speed and give the business not only instant access to real time transactional information and analysis but also more flexibility.

"SAP HANA Express Edition is boon for learners"

What do you like best?

SAP HANA Express edition is one of the best platform for learning analytics. It provides complete platform which you can use to develop and learn new concepts in HANA. As HANA is gaining footprints in enterprise landscape, it becomes imperative to consultants to keep them updated with the ever fasting pace of innovation. HANA Express edition provides that opportunity. I like its Geo spatial and Advanced Analytics features the most. Analytics is becoming a crux to any enterprise decision and HANA provides just the right tool for the same.

Another feature that I like most is the XS Advanced capabilities and cloud foundry based architecture.

The in-memory database provides the best performance than traditional SAP systems. Support for Predictive analytics is best available. and Text analysis adds value to the natural language processing.

What do you dislike?

Though there is nothing much to dislike about the product, however, it should also supports windows OS as well.

Also, it would be great if it can provide BOT support as well. Another feature that I would like to explore is using HANA for IoT business cases. The Pricing should be less as well so that consultants can have more hands-on exposure than understanding the mere concepts

Recommendations to others considering the product:

The RAM should be at least 16 GB if you want to install it on premise.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I used the edition to learn and explore the capabilities of HANA platform. I used the platform for exploring analytic features like Predictive algorithms and Mobile applications

It is very quick and easy installation. Also i have an option to go for Public cloud version, which will help me utilize my OPEX. Also the tutorials provided are very easy to understand.

What do you dislike?

SAP HANA, express edition is capped at 32 GB of compressed data. If you want to go higher than this, you'll have to license HANA in a different way. It might have atleaset 64GB. It should made available on open source linux platforms.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

one of the best application available with ease of use and installation.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

SAP HANA analytics services good and better as compared to traditional database analytics. It is more faster than traditional databases. provides reports fatser.

"Investing to SAP HANAx"

What do you like best?

Hana is all about in memory computing which means that you get immediate real time results. This is because the data resides in the RAM. This feature is a great benefit for those who want super-fast results.

Hana has many advantages such as mass data, agility, total cost of ownership, any data type processing etc.

What do you dislike?

1) currently only one big maschine - which is not really perfect for HA scenarios ( in some documentation you can read about a distributed system - like BWA) - no docu tells me the truth about the HW architecture

2) no PITR (point-in-time recovery - user errors -> deleting data accidentally or something like that)

3) HA scenarios are not covered by SAP - vendors will be responsible (standby host(s)?)

4) no migration back to standard RDBMS, so SAP take your flexibility away ( no R3load export possible?)

5) xSystem copies - how they can be performed? (more interesting later for ERP systems)

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Real-time decision making by bringing all enterprise data within the reach of decision makers in seconds to help you make smarter, faster, better decisions

Innovative new applications that combine high-volume transactions with analytics to dramatically improve planning, forecasting, and pricing optimization

"SAP HANA - data platform that increases the performance significantly"

What do you like best?

First of all it is important to know that HANA is a data platform, not just a database. It consists of calculation, spatial, graph, predictive, data quality, web, business rules and other engines that allows to do lots of customization performance wise. HANA can significantly increase the performance. For e.g. we have managed to increase the data load time by 120 times in HANA comparing with Oracle RDBMS. Once the specific query has been edited to meet HANA best practices we have managed to increase the data load by 9 times. So at the end the data load time for a specific query has increased more than 1000 times. The speed of data load gives a lot of opportunities to deal with high volume of data. This is one of the best feature of SAP HANA. Integration with SAP Business Objects.

What do you dislike?

SAP HANA is a modern tool and it is difficult to find qualified specialists to know how to customize SAP HANA correctly. It is also very expensive to implement SAP HANA. We use SAP HANA Revision 80 and we have serious problems with memory overload. Memory in HANA is keep growing and growing until it reaches its maximums and the system crashes. In order to avoid HANA to crash we need to restart HANA every week. According to the documentation, this issue has been solved in Revision 84. So it is important to update SAP HANA constantly that will require additional costs and time. If I would compare SAP HANA and Oracle RDBMS, then Oracle is a more stable environment.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

SAP HANA is used for exploring and analyzing all transactional and analytical data in real time. Our business users can analyze business operations in real-time using huge volumes of detailed information while business is happening.

"Data insights improvements with HANA Express Edition"

What do you like best?

I can use and run it on personal laptop or desktop computer, or as a virtual machine on any operating system that can run a hypervisor. now there is no limitation for SAP HANA on devices other than existing, SAP-certified, hardware appliances. also it need very minimal hardware configuration with better performance.

What do you dislike?

32 GB at no charge . but Up 128 GB for a fee... :)

Recommendations to others considering the product:

you can adopt easily with all inbuilt application engine along with HANA Express Edition.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

instead of going for SAP certified HANA appliance, I can go with this edition and use it at its optimization with very limited hardware, it have advanced data processing engine, so to meet all the requirements, by creating the Demo systems on in-house systems we can solve many problem of having HANA system in our landscape

"Central Finance has a clear value proposition "

What do you like best?

While Hana as an end to end suite provides best in class capabilities, my experience with Central Finance has been great for those companies who either expect M&A activity or are the result of it. It’s ability to map legacy ERPs to a harmonized data layer allows for data lake-like capabilities for the Finance function that can be later augmented in broader implementation.

What do you dislike?

There’s no way around the high cost of implementing a large ERP, and central finance ends up more expensive over the long run than the status quo. However it does offer augmented capabilities.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Specifically the SAP Hana central finance tool allows for the consolidation of multiple source ERPs into one data layer for unified reporting. It is a strong interim solution while rolling out an enterprise transformation.

"In Memory Computing is here to stay! "

What do you like best?

HANA is SAP's in-memory computing technology that provides an in memory database for fast data access and processing. Properties like faster data fetching, quick execution times, speedy access to external Apps make it a very useful technology.

What do you dislike?

There is nothing negative about the technology itself. The roll out of of this platform could have been done in a better way. The cloud integration of SAP has been slow as well.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

SAP is firmly sticking with in memory computing and making all of their processes compatible with in-memory computing. This essentially forces customers to migrate to HANA but the user experice in HANA is much better compared to the alternate. This is recommended for any SAP customer with large volumes of data that needs processing, reporting and analysis.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As the data volume grows, the conventional database based reports and processes tend to slow down. This negatively affects the year on year trend analysis and processes requiring multiple data fetch. HANA being in memory database virtually eliminates these issues. The data fetch is almost instantaneous and the processes run much faster.

"My experience with SAP HANA "

What do you like best?

The flexibility to easily retrieve data, the real time analytical capability. you can store both transactional and analytical data. you can continue increase the memory in case you ran out of memory because SAP HANA is built in memory it is very easy to keep amplifying the memory. Another advantage that I i like too is that SAP HANA is compatible with other databases such as SQL or MDX.

What do you dislike?

The only minor problem is that SAP HANA is in memory only which means that SAP HANA will stores all the data in-memory only but i don't think its a big deal but for those that found in-memory a little bit too much then I guess you will find SAP HANA a little complicated for not having the option to store the data in disks too. In my case I prefer the in-memory technology.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I will definitely recommend SAP HANA the many benefits that you will encounter by deploying the in-memory database is tremendous. If you deal with big data then HANA is the solution specially in organizations that deal with transactions or any other analytics tasks, SAP HANA has proved to be one of the in-memory best databases.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Me and my team were helping a client where we provided SAP HANA support and we were able to help the client by solving some obstacles such as keeping up to date the SAP HANA servers by patching them and fix any bug we found in the way. The client was performing business much reliable since it was a big client they needed SAP HANA in place to process all the analytical and transactional data and retrieve in real time data when needed, the benefit and the value that SAP HANA provide was so valuable and very rewarding in the end. So I highly recommend HANA specially in you are in a big organization where you deal with big data HANA is the way to go.

"SAP HANA really brings performance"

What do you like best?

I love the way it integrates with my BI tools (especially SAP BusinessObjects Explorer and SAP Lumira). Being able to provide users access to the enterprise KPI and let them drill down to the transaction detail has been very, very powerful for us.

What do you dislike?

The upfront expense is pretty high, but we've been able to pay it off in no time.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

SAP HANA is as fast and powerful as advertised. Invest in training your data modelers, because the shift in mindset is difficult, but once it clicks they'll be off and running. And, with the new cloud interface and deployment options, testing it out is pretty painless.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our first use case was around supply cost for our operating rooms. In the 2 years since we've given analysts and operational leaders full, fast access to this data, we've saved $13 million.

Initially until SPS10, product was quite unstable. Code management between dev, test and production can be a pain point.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

1. Avoid too many ETL process, jobs (Now we do it with custom logic on the fly)

2. Real time data processing

3. multi platform integration.

"Best way to get started into SAP world"

What do you like best?

You download the virtual machine already installed and configured, and in no time you have a fully functional environment, perfect for those who want to learn how this modern platform works.

What do you dislike?

The hxexsa.ova image is set to use 12 GB, but it will not start correctly. It took 24 GB and a lot of patience to get started. The tutorial should clearly state and explain these problems.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

24 to 32 GB RAM are needed if you go on-premise.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Learning without need of asking IT for SAP resources

"Simple and FAST"

What do you like best?

Query execution is the best part of HANA. They are pretty quick and we can push down most complex aggregating functions to database itself. This help in decreasing lot of time spend in writing the logic for handling the calculations.

What do you dislike?

The difference in open sql and native sql makes it little difficult to handle or write queries. As a ABAP developer or SQL developer, the developer would have used to writing open SQL,while SAP HANA would needs native SQl, which makes it little difficult.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Better guidance or documentations helps most of the developers

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

All the long running reports were revisited to make it faster and things get calculated on the fly. It does help in knowing the real time data and helps in making precise decisions.

"SAP Leondaro helps my business solve complicated database problems "

What do you like best?

I really enjoy SAP Leonardo’s database features, as it allows my company’s data to be secure and organized. It is easy to query data and find answers to problems using this software.

What do you dislike?

SAP can be challenging to learn at first, and this version of software is not different. If you are to get this for your company, make sure someone is trained to become a “troubleshooting expert”

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Database management, data records, and security of data are the main areas in which Leonardo helps my company

"Appears oddly difficult but in reality very basic"

What do you like best?

It's pretty basic and user-friendly even though the GUI at first is not let you think that it is. It's also easy to reverse and change things that you've done without them being set up permanently.

What do you dislike?

Unfortunately only authorized persons administrators can make changes to information once it is created so you have duplicate or almost identical files created because you cannot change what you've done without permission.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Because of its basic nature, lower level or less trained employees are able to effectively utilize it for proprietary business needs.

"SAP S4 HANA"

What do you like best?

SAP S4 HANA has created a a very useful table where almost all FI and CO details can be found. Table ACDOCA is helpful and connects all submodules to General Ledger.

What do you dislike?

It is relatively new and it is giving piece meal releases from time to time instead of one big release of functionalities.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

In Financials, reconciliation of submodules to general ledger is no longer needed since the submodules will always be equal to GL.

"In-Memory HANA DB"

What do you like best?

its in-memory concept comes along with the appliance is the best part also with its real-time data availability feature.

What do you dislike?

currently not much companies and consultants are with very limited skill set available.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you are looking a DB which is the best from security, performance, real-time data analytics and get rid on traditional DB I strongly recommend one to use HANA DB. its supports much more third party integrations scenario.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

TCO for hardware, maintenance and testing efforts were high, after HANA migration, we realized that it is in complete manageable with less tco, administration, along with Accelerated BO/BI are inbuilt functionality with HANA

"Developers point of view"

What do you like best?

Transparency for developer team , in the implementation part for developers SAP Hana is really simple for update , so far most of the programs just need a few reviews or changes to keep the reports , includes, interfaces runnig from system to system

What do you dislike?

the lak of use of external Databases , for migrating from an external Database yo have to user a midle DB such ass SYBASE to create a ver enviorment to migrate to SAP HANA

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Get better hardware , don't use windows servers, start with the hardest developments first for time reasons

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Hana solved a lot of trouble of speed in the Z programs the customer use in the every day use, and also stay tune the DB without much work

"Sizing is a Pain"

What do you like best?

This is one damn fast way to perform data access, and baking the business logic into the data source is a paradigm shift we have need for some time

What do you dislike?

WTF, on large implementation sizing. Between confusion between memory and storage requirements, and an idiotic model for sizing I don't think HANA has a sizinging model for huge data requirements., and it certainly does not seem to have the infrastructure support beyond 16 TB of data active hot data by the looks of it.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Just jump in, this is the future, but have a plan to handle your warm and cold data needs.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

HANA has very fast data access but when it comes to the bottom line, the main benefit is to be in lock step with the SAP trajectory to ensure main line support from the company

"I have implemented SAP HANA for two clients"

What do you like best?

The best thing about SAP HANA is it's in memory access due to which we can retrieve our data at a faster rate. SAP HANA uses cloud technology which is more secure and helps to reduce hardware space and cost. Heavy reports are run smoothly due to in-memory technology.

What do you dislike?

I did not find any problem in SAP HANA although cost is something that I would like to emphasize on. The cost to implement to SAP HANA is maximum as compared to other ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning). The reports are too normal as compared with Oracle.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

SAP can solve enterprise problem by integrating your enterprise data into one software.

"Fantastic technology that's going places. "

What do you like best?

The amazing performance for many workloads ensures that the user base can perform their tasks in a whole new way with greater abilities than in the past.

What do you dislike?

It's still not as mature as other database products, which is a given,. But the real drawback is the costs for workloads other than SAP.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Do not proceed to do this as a big bang, rolling out smaller units is necessary when using with S/4. Its a major change.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have begun a new era of advanced analytics and financial reporting due to HANA and the new S/4 technology.

"Excellent, for a Small Start up like us to explore HANA "

What do you like best?

Ease of installation and setup. The guides where self-explanatory. Hardly required any kind of additional assistance. Robust system with all the features for starters

What do you dislike?

Wouldnt call it dislike, however it would be great if the memory specifications were more clearer, suggested was 16GB however 32 GB is preferred. For start ps like us some test data would have been helpful

Recommendations to others considering the product:

A great starting point for Small Enterprises looking to implement HANA and understand its capabilities. The best tool get your hands dirty with, developing applications.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

At this time we are working towards familiarizing HANA and its benefits to the organization. Working to build applications on top of HANA.

"Hands on for SAP HANA XS SP12"

What do you like best?

The things that I like best are: first, parallel processing architecture - tested with a million rows load from csv in 11.6 seconds; second, workload push-down - sql script allows push down data-intensive application logic workload to db instead of fetch data to app server over network

What do you dislike?

I don't like the lack of open source option of the HANA XS. It will attract more developer to design their solution with this modern architecture if open source version is available.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I used HANA XS to evaluate the feasibility to host a SaaS product for my client.

"Improved performance and scale-ability "

What do you like best?

Faster system response and much better data footprint by reducing the number of structures and transparent data tables

What do you dislike?

Mainly cost and the new commercial strategy for licenses is causing limitation on expanding the usage as the business case requires much stronger benefits to justify the additional cost

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Perform a proof of concept together with the vendor to ensure that you capture all your business benefits to assist with your business case development.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Data mining and reporting capabilities are extensive. Better return on information and fast decision making is the main business benefit. This is also in line with the long term road map of the vendor to support the future developments and advancements of the product and its functionality

"Very flexible and dynamic data exploration/analysis on HANA Modeling"

What do you like best?

The performance how fast data gets processed by the in-memory technology and the ability to connect to external reporting tool is just amazing.

What do you dislike?

I dislike the password maintenance when using a 3rd party tool. it is not integrated with the SAP stack and our business users would complain because it becomes complicated on using HANA. We are currently exploring self service password reset via webUI.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are providing business insight by giving them the data they need in performing day-by-day business decisions.

"Architected near-real time results determination solution for the major international awarding body"

What do you like best?

- Performance

- Transferable skills (SQL/JavaScript/ABAP for HANA)

- Polyglot storage capabilities

- Modelling abstractions

- Data federation/Virtualisation

- Phenomenal support for existing ABAP application, easy migration

What do you dislike?

- Stability - system can crash when overloaded with the complex calculation

- Resources management very basic

- Tooling still not most mature: debugging and testing still not most advanced

- Integration with Solution Manager and standard SAP environment processes proved to be problematic

- Lack of efficient mechanism for migration of reference data between environments,

Recommendations to others considering the product:

- Consider sourcing options, some major integrators still lack skills, although they claim experience, most of it is in the context of BW on HANA, not easily transferable when developing custom applications, look for software engineering skills as a differentiator

- Consider your existing SAP landscape, especially in the context of UI, do not attempt to scope in too much in one go

- NetWeaver for HANA adds plentiful of capabilities making it easy to build custom functionality with existing skillset

- Consider security models, NetWeaver can help with that, as it provides seamless integration with the SAP security model, whereas built in HANA security does not integrate that easily

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

- Processing data near-real time as they arrive provides faster business and analytical cycles

- Significant reduction of errors in the process and elimination of costly rework through increased transparency of data dependent outcomes

"SAP"

What do you like best?

SAP is what my company uses to manage all of our customer accounts. All information is quick and easy to find.

What do you dislike?

I don't like not being able to display several invoices in one home page. Has to go through several pages before each invoice can be displayed in a pdf.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I utilize SAP for looking at all information for any customer. It's great being able to look at all the information that would generally be in a database that's easy and quick to find in a more operator friendly viewing.

"Ease of Access when connecting to DB"

What do you like best?

I use SAP Crystal Reports to run relational DB reports. I wasnt sure if this would fall in the category of SAP Hana but its a user friendly tool.

What do you dislike?

No longer supports Hyperion Brio since Crystal and hard to find support on phone unless u leave a feedback. They get in touch via email only.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Run Crystal reports quickly and effectively. Quick payroll details at a glance once custom reports are created
