Compared to native languages like Swift or Java/Kotlin, RubyMotion allows me to be more quickly in development process, especially as a Ruby developer. RubyMotion has a smaller community and fewer libraries than more popular mobile development tools like React Native or Flutter. This can make it harder for me to find up-to-date resources, plugins, or support when I need them. Also, RubyMotion sometimes falls behind in supporting the latest iOS and Android features, which means I may have to wait to use new native capabilities and that is a real problem for me. What problems is RubyMotion solving and how is that benefiting you? RubyMotion lets me work in a familiar Ruby environment while building native mobile apps, saving me time and reducing the learning curve that comes with switching to new languages like React Native. It also makes cross-platform development, so, easier by allowing me to share code between iOS and Android, which cuts down both development time and costs since I don't need separate teams for each platform. Plus, with direct access to native APIs in RubyMotion, I can implement specific native features whenever needed because I am familiar with them, and it is easier for me than to use another framework. I loved it was a ruby syntax and based on what ruby developers know. It was easy to understand, but methods and patterns were not exactly the same, but native mobile methods ruby made. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about RubyMotion? How they just stop in time, stop evolving and just lose against the competition, we stop using it. At the beginning it was great, the competition was those ugly web-based mobile frameworks, but this was just fancy enough to get it to the market with no pain. Recommendations to others considering RubyMotion: I would recommend RubyMotio for quick POC, it is great to build apps with no effort, simple apps, no big feature, no use of complex native radios or APIs, when you have to start creating complex bridging, and supporting more than one code base, then it just lacks its initial purpose. Usage of Ruby for developing iOS apps. Basically any native apps Android or iOS. It increases the output and the hassle of learning objective C or swift or Java. I can use gems as well which is a big plus. There's also the testing framework which it provides which saves the hassle of constantly testing it on an actual simulator for every small change - functionality wise or feature wise.
