Retool Reviews & Product Details

Securely deploy vibe-coded apps in one governed platform. Build in Retool, import from tools like Claude Code, Replit, or Lovable, or connect via MCP. However your team builds, every app ships safely, with governance built in. People across your organization are already vibe-coding internal tools with no SSO, no RBAC, no audit logs, and no connection to your existing data controls. Retool is where secure vibe coding happens by default. Build from scratch, import an app from another AI builder, or connect an agent via MCP — governance lives in the platform, not in each individual app. The Problem Retool Solves AI made it fast to build software. It didn't make that software safe to run. Business teams are shipping working apps in hours, but those apps typically land with no access controls, no audit trail, and no visibility for IT — until something breaks or a security review stalls the whole thing. Retool closes that gap instead of leaving teams to choose between speed and safety. Key Capabilities - AI-native app builder: Describe what you need in natural language, or drag in a screenshot, PDF, or design file. Get a full, production-ready app, not a prototype. - Import from anywhere: Already building in Lovable, Replit, or straight React? Import the app and pick up Retool's data connections, permissions, and governance automatically. - Build via MCP: Connect any AI coding agent to Retool through MCP. Generate an app from your terminal, deploy it straight onto a governed platform. - Protected by default: Every app inherits RBAC, SSO, secrets management, and audit logging the moment it's created — no matter where it was built. - Deploy on your infrastructure: Cloud, self-hosted, or hybrid. Retool runs wherever your compliance requirements demand. Why Retool's Different Most AI app builders get you to a working prototype. Most governance tools get bolted on after the fact, once IT finds out what's already running. Retool puts the two together: apps are built fast and land production-ready, with security enforced at the platform level instead of chased down app by app. That's what makes secure vibe coding possible at enterprise scale, not just on paper. Who Uses Retool Engineering, IT, and operations teams use Retool to let business teams build without opening a ticket, while IT keeps full visibility into what's running, who has access, and what changed. Companies including Amazon, Stripe, DoorDash, Boeing, Adobe, Brex, Pfizer, and OpenAI run on Retool to build and govern internal applications, including apps generated with AI. Outcome Teams ship vibe-coded apps to production without a separate security review, because the governance was never missing in the first place. Start building for free at https://retool.com/

"Great tool to build internal tools UI"

4/5

What do you like best about Retool?

I like that Retool strikes a great balance between low-code simplicity and flexibility — it lets you build quickly without code when needed, but still gives you the control to create better UIs when it matters. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Retool?

The pricing model is hard to make it work when your user base is big. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our backend developers used to face a barrier when it came to contributing to our internal tools — they lacked the frontend expertise. With Retool, that’s no longer a limitation. They can now build and contribute to the tools they’ve always wanted, without needing to become frontend specialists. On top of that, we no longer need a dedicated team managing patching and frontend dependencies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Game-Changer for Building Internal Tools at Lightning Speed"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Retool?

Honestly, what blew me away was the speed. I'm using it for the first time and I managed to build a functional tool in just one afternoon, something I thought would take me at least a few days. Connecting it to my database was surprisingly easy, it just worked. I love that even though it's so simple to start, I can still write my own code if I ever need to do something more specific. I can already see how much time this is going to save me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Retool?

It can get a bit complex when you want to build something really custom. The basics are simple, but it can sometimes be difficult to find and connect more complicated actions, like making one button trigger several different steps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest problem Retool solves for us is the slow, manual process of interacting with our database. Previously, if I needed to view customer data, I have to run a manual query.

Retool gives us a way to get quick access to our databases and present that data in a really clear way, like in a table or a list. The main benefit is that we can now manage all that information in a surprisingly simple way. We can build tools with forms and buttons that let our team safely create, update, or delete records without needing any technical help. It has saved us a huge amount of development time. What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?

Retool helped us solve the challenge of building an internal tool to manage our customers, update our database, and view files and uploads efficiently. We needed a solution that could be launched in just a few days, and Retool made it incredibly easy to connect to our existing infrastructure and build the tools we required. "Transformative Tool for Rapid App Development"

5/5

What do you like best about Retool?

Retool has completely changed the way I build apps. The drag-and-drop interface is super intuitive, making it easy to piece together complex applications without writing tons of code. I love how seamlessly it connects with all sorts of data sources and APIs—whether it's a SQL database or a REST API, Retool handles it all effortlessly. Plus, the pre-built templates save me so much time when starting new projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Retool?

While I love using Retool, there are a few hiccups. The learning curve was a bit steep at first, especially when diving into more advanced features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?

Retool has been a lifesaver for streamlining our internal processes. We've built several apps that help automate tasks and manage data more efficiently, saving us hours every week. It's also cut down on our development costs since we don't need to hire extra developers for every little tool we need. Overall, it's made my job easier and our team more productive. "Fast way to build powerful tools"

5/5

What do you like best about Retool?

Retool is fantastic. I was able to create a fully functional app in just a couple of days, even without much coding or web architecture experience. The interface is clear, and it’s especially great for adding AI features easily. Highly recommend if you want to move fast and build reliable tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Retool?

The UI can be a bit unclear at times. It’s easy to spend several minutes clicking around to figure out how to do something simple. A bit more guidance or clearer workflows would help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Retool and recommendation"

4/5

What do you like best about Retool?

Its ability to handle the complex data patterns and displaying it in very efficient manner. It provides easy to use UI to start with creative dashboards. Integration with Rest API, Google spreadsheets etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Retool?

As it has lots of features sometime it is difficult to have the idea of all features immediately. For example i didn't knew that i can write python code in the workflow and run it using a different input feature as workflow and display it in the ui for user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?

As retool is efficient to build the interactive dashboards it helps in displaying the complex table data and api response in proper and well created UI. It all handles the data and user to customize the errors and data restrictions can be set by user. Upto what extent data should be displayed. Different functions can be written to handle google sheets and run python code for understanding the user requirements. For me it resolved the problem of complex data to display easily and in dynamic way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flexible, highly performance and customisable tool"

5/5

What do you like best about Retool?

Retool has allowed me to both spinup prototypes as well as extremely functional internal tooling that has given me fine control of the components that I am utilising for the application

It's a great combination of off the shelf components, as well as lots of opportunities to use JavaScript to add almost limitless functionality beyond what other low-code tools are able to allow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Retool?

Some of the online tutorials are slightly outdated, but the need to use them is extremely infrequent Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?

I needed a tool that allowed me to access multiple databases, query that data, and send processed data to a number of webhooks to trigger a chrome extension that I have built.

It has been extremely quick to drag and drop the components that I needed to make it all work, and simple to create the queries that allow this to happen Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very impressed - intuitive and adaptable"

5/5

What do you like best about Retool?

Very fast and responsive - intuitive too. I have experience as a front-end developer but I haven't found the need to rely on those skills too much. I find it very easy to use. The preview function is good and also the releases and history mean I can roll back if I have an issue. I have been using a combination of ChatGPT & Claude to help me when I get stuck. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Retool?

I have found it a little bit difficult to view my app in a mobile viewport. Also some limitations in terms of theming. I would say maybe as a true "no code" tool it would be quite a lot more limited, if people had no idea about code then they might get stuck. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fantastic tool for building a number of solutions without staffing a developer"

5/5

What do you like best about Retool?

After trying a number of low-code applications, I found that Retool was the perfect fit for functionality, flexibility, and ease of use. I am not a developer and have very little experience with writing any coding language. But, with nothing more than ChatGPT and the super helpful Retool community, I was able to spin up a number of simple to complex tools and applications that provide deep analysis with direct BigQuery connections and automated data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Retool?

The negatives I've had so far are few and far between. If I had to pick one, it would be a longer roadmap on some of the very specific features I've been waiting for like native pivot table functionality. However, I've been able to find workarounds with the help of the community. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
