## Retool Reviews
  ### 1. Easiest way to build your internal retool, from small to big application

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike K. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool has a lot of built in functionalities, can connect to any db setup, even works with graphql.
Once you have your DB connected, building an application is simple and straightforward. Just drag the componenet we need and the configure it with some help of javascript.

Truly recommend for company that are building internal tool.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

to spport more and more components in the future

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For building internal tool, it usually takes at least one UI and one Backend engineer, with the help of retool, UI engineer can quickly drag basic components and start writing javascript to make it happen.
Backend can provide an entry point like GraphQL to connect to DB data easily.

I believe in the long run, you can also use retool to build a CRM system.

  ### 2. Retool is an excelent tool to create flexible dashboards

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Felipe P. | Senior Data Scientist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I like the flexibility of the platform, as it allows you to fetch data from a wide variety of sources and manipulate the results on the fly using JS. I also like the flexibility of the graphs that one can build, as retool exposes the pyplot API that gives you further flexibility when it comes to the kinds of graphs you can make.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I personally think that Retool should add support for more data sources that are still missing, or give the ability to add custom sources by setting up calls via a client (such as a JS or Python client) with the appropriate drivers. This is an actual bottleneck to using the platform.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem that Retool solves for me is being able to put together dashboards that empower our stakeholders to make data driven decisions. It is a platform where development is fast and deployment of changes is trivial, making iteration really easy.

  ### 3. Streamlining API Integrations with Retool: A Developer's Perspective

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sebastián D. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

My favorite part about using Retool is how seamlessly it allows us to consume services from different APIs and tools. The built-in integrations significantly speed up the development process, making it incredibly efficient to build and deploy applications. Additionally, I really enjoy the GitHub integration, which simplifies version control and collaboration, and the fact that I don’t have to worry about hosting the application on my own servers is a huge plus.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

While I generally have a positive experience with Retool, one area for improvement could be the customization options for the UI components. Although the built-in components are robust, having more flexibility in styling and layout customization would enhance the user experience and allow for a more tailored interface to meet specific project needs.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool is solving the challenge of building and maintaining a complex back-office application that needs to interface with multiple APIs and databases. By providing a platform with pre-built components and seamless API integrations, Retool allows us to quickly develop and iterate on our back-office tools. This application is used daily by tens of employees, and the speed at which we can roll out updates and new features is crucial to maintaining our operational efficiency. Retool’s flexibility and ease of use have significantly reduced the development time and effort required, allowing us to focus more on refining the functionality and improving the user experience for our team.

  ### 4. Review from Major Beauty Retailer for the use in Digital Commerce Area

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shibin I. | Sr IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool excels in quick development of handy tools and applications that are needed for Internal usecases. We have developed for a lot of use cases in Operations where it is very difficult to plan and build tools. So what we need is a platform where we need to quickly develop and roll it out when the need comes up and Retool has been excellent in meeting us that Goal

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I find a lack of options in terms of integrating with Google Cloud products than on AWS. Also would be gr8 to have native capabilities to execute Kubectl commands against GKE resources

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool has solved many of the challenges for us in Digital Technology Operations

  ### 5. Best NoCode Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos S. | CPO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Easiness of use + learning curve

I was able to create a quick admin panel to edit user profiles within less than 1 hour

Also it was supereasy and intuitive to connect with my DB or APIs.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Lack of tutorials + Onboarding

If you are a first user you do not get to know how to use it or the differences between the product, it took me the same to understand Retool capabilities than creating the first app copying from an existing one

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Internal admin and control tools

We have only a backend developer and to fasten everything related to managing the DB or interacting with it we needed a No-Code tool, using APIs direclty is not a thing for everyone.

  ### 6. the easy way of success

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohamed S. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

it's the most easy to use easy integration with easy of implementation tools and various resources

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

i think the ai prompting to make a workflow need some work, and it would be great if there is a prompt to build an application from zero to at least 80% on ( creat a new app)

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

cut time on building projects and it's so easy for non-technical like me

  ### 7. A developer’s dream

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool is a one stop shop for trying out an idea quickly. It’s free to get started and can scale if you find a fit. It’s exceptionally flexible and reliable. I find myself thinking up fun ways to use it just to automate personal projects.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

It can get expensive for a big team. But for hobbiests and startups it’s excellent.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automation and integrations. Quick prototypes.

  ### 8. It is quite quick and easy solution to create applications

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The easy database integration and the quick and easy way to create forms and store data. Ease of implenetation as well.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I wish it was more form oriented then component creation so that I can build a workflow and add pages and databases to it.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am trying to build applications for both internal or external purposes and take them to production faster in this fast-paced world we live in,

  ### 9. A User-Friendly Solution for Fast, Branded Internal Tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Renewables & Environment | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool is a powerful tool that stands out for its user-friendly interface and minimal need for front-end involvement, making it especially useful for projects with limited development capacity. The ability to customize themes to fit branding is a huge plus, adding a polished, on-brand feel to applications.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

On the downside, as a designer, there are a few areas for improvement, like reducing the number of clicks needed to reach certain goals and offering a broader selection of fonts. Despite these minor points, Retool's strengths keep it as a top choice for building internal tools.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool addresses the challenge of building internal tools quickly and efficiently without relying heavily on front-end development. With its drag-and-drop interface, Retool makes app creation accessible to non-technical team members, which means faster turnaround times and more agility in tackling project needs. This is especially helpful when resources are limited, allowing designers and product teams to prototype, iterate, and deploy tools without waiting on development cycles. For me, Retool offers a way to bring ideas to life quickly, customize them to reflect our brand, and focus on the user experience without getting bogged down by technical dependencies.

  ### 10. The power of low code without no ties with proprietary data sources

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nandico A. | CTO & Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

My experience with Retool has been a blend of a fast learning curve and productivity. I achieved positive intermediate results, enabling the creation of highly productive features for my stakeholders even after the first day of use. It is accessible for individuals with basic knowledge of data structures and no programming skills, yet it is remarkably flexible for experienced developers to quickly generate low-code solutions using SQL and JavaScript. Intuitive functionalities seamlessly operate when experimented with, particularly when users comprehend the object/component model and data bindings. I discussed with my stakeholders the transformation of 40-hour tasks into a mere 4-hour cycle encompassing development, testing, and release.

It means a lot to me to have the opportunity to connect to standardized data sources such as Postgres or other DBMS, as it allows me to employ alternative solutions for tasks like backup, data migration, or other data governance procedures. As a multi-client team, utilizing multiple connections enables me to maintain the segregation of client data within our cloud structures or within dedicated client structures in a secure manner.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Use cases with special requirements are either not supported or are addressed through workarounds. It appears that the Retool engine prioritizes optimization, maintaining a well-balanced component dependency tree. However, this safeguard introduces a barrier that I anticipate could be overcome by incorporating custom React components into the architecture.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All internal system management (every system for collaborators, partners and so on) spending less time in software development.

  ### 11. Retool is a great tool for quick internal apps for both data and software teams

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool has been a massive help for both our data and software projects. It lets us easily build internal apps, dashboards, and prototypes without needing to dive into tons of custom code, which has sped up our ability to test and launch new ideas. Whether we're working with data manipulation or creating tools to streamline workflows, Retool has been very useful.

Plus, it’s super reliable and easy to pick up, so our whole team was up and running fast with just a custom internal training.

We loved how it lets us connect to any database or API, making it flexible enough for all kinds of projects. Retool has definitely become our go-to for prototyping and building internal tools!

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

An app which has write access to the database is quite powerful, but it can also lead to mistakes. One must be very careful about what users have access to the app, what information is shared, and what could go wrong with such permissions.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps configure customers and making sure less technical people can help maintain our applications and get the right configurations for customers.

  ### 12. Retool is an excellent, reasonably priced solution to a variety of helpful business tools.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason K. | Data Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The Customer Support has been very responsive and helpful. The functionality provides an easier interface to create useful tools while still providing lots of customization for more complicated features and workflows.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I haven't run into many issues with Retool. The documentation could be a little bit better explaining some aspects of JS code. It would be nice to have the option to do more in Python since I know that better, however, that may be a more personal request rather than a widespread help.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing a business tool that is able to be distributed easily (with just a link).

  ### 13. Easy to Use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Traci O. | Business Operations Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I've been using Retool for our company for a little over 1.5 years, and I think it's hands-down the best application to use when trying to build no-code or low-code tools for internal use. We've been able to bring about a large amount of tools for our various platforms, and have also had a really easy time with setting up the integrations with our platforms. The implementation process was simple and precise, and Retool has become the system that our team uses tools from daily.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I would like some guidance on Javascript building as we're working on low-code projects.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool solves a number of use cases, including but not limited to designing reports for users that don't have access to the database, making changes to the database without needing access, and limiting the amount of database users for compliance reasons.

  ### 14. Excellent tool for moving fast

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I like best about Retool the ability to rapidly develop internal tools with minimal coding. A simple and intuitive drag-and-drop interface makes it very accessible. Its seamless integration with various databases and APIs enables us to pull in data effortlessly, creating customized solutions that fit our needs. Overall, Retool has significantly streamlined our development process and boosted our productivity.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Although Retool allows for some customization, users may find the design options for UI elements somewhat restrictive compared to fully custom development.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool is great in helping us move forward quickly and deliver solutions to our customers. By simplifying the development of internal tools, we can rapidly prototype and implement features that directly address customer needs.
The platform’s intuitive interface allows our team to make adjustments on the fly, ensuring we remain responsive to feedback and market demands. Backend devs can rapidly create UI for processes.

  ### 15. I've used Retool to build internal tools, and I appreciate its flexibility and integration.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antonio A. | Company owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The ability to quickly connect to multiple data sources and build functional UIs without spending time on boilerplate code.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

One limitation is the absence of a backend data abstraction layer — managing record-level permissions, complex filters, and efficient paging requires more manual work than platforms with a true application server

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Thanks to Retool, I can develop internal applications in hours instead of days, reducing time-to-delivery and improving responsiveness to internal requests

  ### 16. Definitely the best best of low code solutions

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I like the transparent integration between code and UI (actually writing and seeing the code). Retool is by far the best and quickest way to create simple CRUD webapps. I really enjoy workflows as well. I like how you can define resources, and use them throughout the app. It seems all of the authentication types are supported really good (haven't ran into an issue once). Retool offers the fastest way to implament new apps of all of the other low code solutions. I haven't yet had to communicate to customer support, but from what I have learned from a collegue, customer support is awesome, they don't only help with predifined answers, but actually listen to suggestions and make corrections in the system based on user needs. Integration with other tools is easy, because of resources feature.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

1. Error logging is a bit lacking compared to writing app by code (still a lot better than all other low code solutions)
2. Apps can get a bit slow when loading loads of data
3. Code suggestions sometimes not working properly
4. It sometimes forces you to write unreadable code by design, because you have to write it in one line
5. I miss passing parameters to between functions and queries, I had to find a few workarounds to make some edge case solutions work
6. Workflows - missing looping over multiple blocks

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly development of quick simple CRUD applications, that would otherwise take months to put out.

  ### 17. Fast, flexible, but costly when scaling

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The drag-and-drop interface is super intuitive, so our team can quickly design and tweak apps without getting bogged down in front-end coding. The integrations are a huge time-saver; we can connect our databases and APIs seamlessly, which means less time on setup and more time actually building. Plus, I love that Retool isn’t restrictive—you can add custom code whenever you need, which lets us tailor apps to our exact needs rather than being limited to rigid templates. Overall, great tool to get started, super easy to implement.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The platform can get expensive, especially if you need multiple users working on applications simultaneously. Mobile responsiveness could be improved. Currently, it works best for desktop applications, so if you’re looking to build mobile-friendly tools, it may not be the best option out of the box.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We’ve used Retool primarily for building dashboards and tools that streamline our operations, such as data management, CRM, and inventory tracking. The time saved by using Retool compared to traditional development has been significant. It’s become a core part of our internal tools ecosystem, helping us improve productivity and allowing our team to respond quickly to business needs.

  ### 18. Just the best app for internal tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I am a coder, but simply creating internal tools from scratch is too much work.
Retool UI is beautiful, state management is good, it has all the connectors I needed and composable to an extreme. It is the king of the category 'no-code tools for developers)

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I just miss a proper advanced management system so applications are super optimised.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Internal users need custom dashboards to manage and solve our users queries. I deploy everyday changes and development is extremely rapid.

  ### 19. High quality guaranteed, simple and effective.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alessandro A. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I found retool thanks to a friend of mine. I wasn't so enthusiastic to use it, because I'm a techie, but I must say that it saved souch time in my work life! I started a business an year ago and I use it every day. Just a few hours and I have most of the features I need. Cost effective, simple, well designed, very valuable for startups!
Thanks, you did a great job!

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Maybe a missing startup program. But actually I don't know if exists honestly.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm managing my user's tickets on demand operations. I manage also my website layout and environment toggle feature.

  ### 20. AMAZING

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Usman M. | Head of Product, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

We spent 3 hours building an epic internal app with retool which an agency quoted us £20k and 1 month to make! To give you an idea of how intuitive it is, before opening Retool yesterday, I had never used API calls before and we now have a working app which we've rolled out across the team in <2 days. Amazing!!

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Can feel daunting at the start as someone non-technical but the tempaltes etc are amazing and help

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed an internal app to consume API data for energy consumption in a safe, secure, logged and access control way

  ### 21. Excellent platform to develop quick prototypes, competitive pricing and features makes it preferable

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ankit T. | Deputy Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I love the fact that they are continuously adding new features and solutions that allows us to implement not only the frontend but also the backend of custom web applications with so much ease. Additionally, it is quite well integrated with most of the industry's preferred platforms.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

It is still not ready to be used beyond prototyping stage or when there is a need to fully scale the infra for heavier loads. Additionally, the ability to add custom packages and import code in popular langauges such as python is missing, although there are ways around provided to get the job done at the least.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is allowing us to develop internal web applications and deploy with minimum time. Also, bug fixing is quite easy.

  ### 22. Perfect low-code solution for internal tooling and external apps!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Norman M. | Automations Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 11, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Too many things to choose from!

But as a Retool user since 2020, I have to say that the best thing about Retool is its regular feature updates. I've seen many low-code solutions that stay almost stagnant in their features, and Retool brings in valuable new features all the time that help uplevel our user experience.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Can't think of much! Retool is built in such a way that if there was something that isn't possible out of the box, there are still options.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The primary problem its solving is allowing for speedy app building, particularly from less technical builders.

  ### 23. Overall, it’s a great platform for building internal apps fast and without much hassle.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The platform lets you build the tools you need quickly without complex coding. It integrates easily with other systems, so you can pull in data from anywhere. It’s a great choice when you need to streamline tasks efficiently and fast.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Although I've been working with Retool every day for a couple of years, I wouldn't say it has any major flaws. Occasionally, the app freezes, but that's about it.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool solves the challenge of building internal applications by making it easy to automate manual processes and bring data from multiple sources into one place. As someone working in application development, this saves me a lot of time, letting me focus on building efficient tools quickly and ensuring all critical data is accessible and integrated for smoother workflows.

  ### 24. Easy to use interface to reach your goals.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Austin F. | Geospatial Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The interface, wealth of documentation and components provide an easy experience for users to learn on the go and complete the tasks they seek to complete.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Collaborative editing became a problem. Sometimes, you would do several edits that would not save, nor would show up in the history if another user is inside the application editing environment.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I had no experience with application development before, but Retool gave me a great interface for dragging an dropping components, and configuring them to do what I needed them to do.

  ### 25. Retool Revolutionized How We Utilize Data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Very easy implementation of applications, especially for people who have not built apps before. It was extremely easy to get started and the help from the forums is quick and easily accessible if you get stuck. Also, the integrations with our other systems (Salesforce and Databricks) were easy to implement saving us time. The acceptance of the app has been easy on our daily users of the app and the frequent releases of features make the development exciting.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The only thing I hope gets better is the implementation of requested features.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem we face is the continuous use of Excel for business processes. Retool has helped us build a new platform where collaboration and data management are a breeze.

  ### 26. Very Useful Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Max P. | Generative AI Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I love how easy it is to spin up demos, prototypes, etc. As a backend engineer, my frontend skills are not the best, so retool is really useful for wrapping apis and DBs.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

It would be nice if there was some vsCode integration or something. I find it's really easy to setup simple demos, but then once I want to make some bigger changes it gets a bit cumbersome, compared to how I would change code in a vsCode project.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using retool for demos, and internal applications. It increases are speed of development, because we don't have to worry about spinning up frontend infra. The DB tool is useful, and all the resource integrations are really easy to use

  ### 27. Turning Support Into Technical Experts

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Micheal T. | Tech Expert, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Creating on the fly internal tools that integrates with every aspect of our infrastructure. This helps empower our support users and anyone else to resolve our clients' issues. And it speeds up the development process of internal tools. It is used daily in all over our operations to support the support team as a tech expert and SME.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

It is designed for engineers and the permissions, controls, and organization can be overwhelming for users or non-tech savvy users to build on their own.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping build rapidly deployed internal tools in the span of minutes for non-technical users.

  ### 28. Retool: Empowering Developers with Seamless App Building

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool is an exceptional platform that redefines the way developers build internal tools and applications. It provides a robust and intuitive interface, allowing you to quickly create functional apps by connecting with your databases, APIs, and workflows with minimal friction. What sets Retool apart is its flexibility to customize everything, from simple forms to complex workflows, while still keeping development fast and accessible.

For those who value both power and simplicity in their app development process, Retool strikes the perfect balance. Whether you're working with SQL queries, APIs, or custom JavaScript, Retool seamlessly integrates with your existing systems, saving hours of coding and debugging. If you're like me and love efficient, user-friendly solutions, Retool is a game-changer.

We use this tool daily and have seen incredible value in bringing transparency between all of our systems. Our operations have improved 10 fold.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I like the pricing model until you get to discuss enterprise pricing. There is not enough justification for us to take the plunge and take on that kind of expense. I also feel that the enterprise pricing was a complete shocker and adds quite a bit to your final price.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can get right into the SQL without delays in user interface design/development.

  ### 29. Amazing no code tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexandre R. | Co-founder , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool is a powerful combination of ease of use and flexibility. It allows you to quickly build and deploy complex internal tools using a drag-and-drop interface while also offering the ability to write custom code when needed. This balance between no-code simplicity and developer-friendly customization makes Retool incredibly versatile for a wide range of use cases.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Retool is awesome, but when your app grows, it can feel like untangling Christmas lights—still doable, but a bit of a headache. And the pricing? Let’s just say your wallet might need a pep talk.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool is like a superhero for building internal tools—it saves you from drowning in custom code. Instead of spending weeks on development, you can whip up a fully functional app in hours. It’s solving the problem of slow, resource-heavy internal app development, which means we get to focus on actually solving business problems rather than wrestling with endless lines of code.

  ### 30. A powerful low-code platform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Henrique N. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

What I like best about Retool is its flexibility and ease of use for building internal tools quickly. It allows you to connect to different databases and APIs effortlessly, saving time and reducing the need for custom development. The drag-and-drop interface is user-friendly, making it easy to create powerful applications without requiring deep technical skillls.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

One downside of Retool is its pricing, especially when it comes to adding new users to the account. In the past, I’ve faced challenges when trying to scale our team because the cost of adding users can be quite high. This makes it difficult for smaller teams or organizations with limited budgets to fully utilize the platform’s potential.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool is helping us by eliminating the need to develop new back-office front ends from scratch, which saves us a lot of time and resources. Additionally, we use Retool to automate some human workflows, which significantly reduces the chances of human error. This automation has improved our efficiency and allowed our team to focus on more strategic tasks rather than repetitive manual processes.

  ### 31. Amazing front end interface for SQL database

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The ability to easily set up a SQL database as a resource, and set up a frontend CRUD app with little to no software development knowledge required. There has also been a vast amount of new features added in the past 2 years we've used the software, and their customer support and developer community are a great resource.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Retool offeres Plotly for graphing solutions. As a means of presenting data, plotly covers the bare minimum and can be a hard module to work with.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a small stand in resource to cover our start up before we could think about picking up an ERP system. Retool let us build custom apps that cover every need we have come across. Albeit the apps are not as fleshed out as an ERP system, they are customizable enough that we have been able to drop other software subscriptions that retool covers instead

  ### 32. Great low code solution for internal tools

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool has made it incredibly easy for our team to build tools that integrate seamlessly with our API. Even our product team members, who don't have a technical background, can create powerful tools with minimal effort. The platform is both powerful and highly customizable, allowing us to tailor solutions to our specific needs. It's a game-changer for internal operations. Highly recommended for teams looking to empower non-technical users to build and manage their own applications.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The lack of support for branches complicates the release process. Managing different versions and deploying updates can be challenging without proper version control, which limits flexibility and adds risks to production changes.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building internal tools without needing extensive coding knowledge. It allows our non-technical teams, especially in product, to create custom tools that integrate directly with our API. This significantly reduces the dependency on developers for creating and maintaining internal tools. The benefit is a faster turnaround for internal tool development, enabling more autonomy for our teams and freeing up developer time for more complex tasks

  ### 33. Powerful automated tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ahmed T. | Software engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The ui building blocks and the options we utilize for organizing our environments

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Nothing actually i guess it serves our purposes perfectly

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of retool's solutions is building the frontend of any app and it gives us high custom components for building our UI

  ### 34. The solution I was looking for

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mason S. | Director of Client Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The most helpful thing about Retool is the way I can interact with SQL so easily and functionally.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The least helpful thing is that documentation isn't on one quick access place, even though it is distributed at key places.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am enabling data governance and pipelines for the first time in my small company so that even our most low-tech people can access critical data and still keep it all in one place.

  ### 35. Build dashboards and applications as easy as 1,2,3.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan Pablo R. | Jr. Data Scientist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The power to build powerful applications with very little code. It's intuitive to use and with basic SQL you can do so many things.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

It has a bit of a learning curve with setting up all connections to your companies APIs or resources, and then the UI is a bit strange. They recently updated it and I feel like everything is in the wrong place (too cluttered and hard to find what you need).

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a technical Product Manager with skills in SQL and Javascript i can build powerful internal tools that would take our engineer team longer to build. They can use that time for more valuable features.

  ### 36. Best tool to test, ship and evolve new ideas (especially with AI)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lorenzo B. | Product Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I often use Retool to develop working prototypes or new stand-alone features to easily integrate in our product. This approach accelerated testing of new functionalities, improved the feedback loop, and allowed for rapid iteration on prototypes. I think is the best tool to test and release new ideas (especially with AI).

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

UI customization often requires to write custom CSS

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can ship much faster because we can use developers' time on core features while saving time on stand-alone features

  ### 37. Very powerful tool!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jan B. | Engineering Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Once you get a grasp of basic concepts it allows you to create pretty good software astonishingly quickly.

- The Embed feature allowed us to integrate Retool into our existing internal software. Replacing one screen at a time, we reached a state where 80% of our system is implemented in Retool and only the rest is proprietary and works nicely together.
- It reduced the time my team spent on internal tooling development dramatically, while improving the speed of delivery and response to change requests by an order of magnitude.
- Integration with our existing systems (Mongo DB, S3, ...) was a breeze.
- Responsive support, willing to help.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The UX of code editing fields is sometimes a bit clunky, but nothing one can't get around.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Development of internal tools. It's dramatically faster to develop new features while flexible enough to meet our needs.

  ### 38. Retool is great for accelerating ideas

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Henrique H. | Specialist Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

- So easy to use
- Awesome component library
- Easily extendable with custom components
- Great granularity in access control management
- Great documentation and support

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

- A little bit pricey for medium/big companies

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my company, we use Retool mostly for internal tooling. It's common to have use cases which needs to connect with many REST APIs, which would be very hard to explain and teach how to use to non-technical people. With Retool, this is just a 2-3 hour work: we have an idea, we understand the needs, then create an app on Retool, connecting with our staging and production environments very easily.

  ### 39. I don't think the value of Retool can be overstated

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sammy G. | Business Systems Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

We can VERY quickly prototype product ideas, prove concepts, deploy tailored internal tools, and build custom integrations between disparate systems.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Some of the documentation for self-hosted implementation was a little lackluster and disjointed.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're now able to marry our operational systems (sales, support, account management, etc.) and myriad data sources from every corner of our ecosystem. AND build bespoke automations that save countless hours of clerical work, and let our folks focus on far more important things.

  ### 40. Really an intuitive product!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 11, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

It has greatly help improve our team's productivity. It is simple staright forward and prototyping is never faster and easier. It has also reduced the overhead for spinning up the apps.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Pricing could be better and cannot use to build complex applications. Integration to our custom components which we build could be made little straight forward.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were usign to buildp prototypes for some of our applications. Prototypes were taking time, but using Retool we were faster and it was svaing a lot of time, We were able to get feedback quickly and on the fly in some meetings we were able to fix some comments and show the updated version.

  ### 41. Amazing software to quickly build internal tools.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Easy to use, and very intuitive. Building features for Internal tools went from months to weeks.
Wide availability of connectors so its very easy to integrate with our databases or backend.
Version differnce viewer well done.
Versioning and roll back is also very smooth.
Intorduction of websocket for colaborative editing done very well.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Dont have versioning on public links.
A branching feature would also be nice, right now its just latest and the changes before but all on branch.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Working in the data department colaborating with tech to create internal tools used to take very long. We are now able to spin up POCs in a few days where it would take months with tech and our own dev stack. New features are added in a week rather than months. IT saves us soo much time in development.

  ### 42. I build internal tools for a living. With Retool, it makes no sense to code from scratch anymore

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I like that I can pull in data from existing sources instead of having to just create another database. Retool has a rather simple interface, and if I need help, good docs.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I'm not really sure what I dislike yet about Retool. I come from a technical background, so using something like this comes naturally.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm creating internal tools for my team to manage a suite of devices.

  ### 43. Really easy and straightforward to build complex stuff

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jorge G. | CPO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The visual way you can connect code and inspect each block for its output

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I sometimes get lost when processws get too big

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is the glue for out ai generated customer service agent. It does ragover a vector db and outputs a draft

  ### 44. Retool - helping my organization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Martin R. | CEP, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Ease of Use: Retool’s drag-and-drop interface made it simple to build tools for managing our workflows. From integrating APIs to creating admin dashboards, our team could prototype and deploy solutions in days rather than weeks.

Integration-Friendly: Retool seamlessly connected with our databases, third-party tools (like Stripe and Slack), and REST APIs. It felt like we had a Swiss Army knife for operations.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Retool’s pricing can feel steep for startups with limited budgets, especially as usage scales. However, the ROI has been worth it for us.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time-Consuming Manual Processes:

  ### 45. Simplicity and Focus

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I love that retool is such an evergreen tool. We use it for so many different operations here and basically takes the trouble out of crazy calculations that we could never do manually.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I just wish it was more intuitive and easier for people to figure out how to manipulate for their specific needs and the steps needed to get there.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool currently helps us generate a schedule of projected revenue over terms of our agreements and matches the revenue to the specific assets that are bringing it in. We're able to accurately show our customers data on their own products and that strengthens our relationship with them.

  ### 46. The best internal software Builder

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kamruj A. | UK Operation Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2024

Easy to work with and make adjustments when needed, the software team for my company find it easy to adjust as per feedback from all associates. Great integration with already existing tools and software and has been easy to roll out and implement within the business. Me and my team use various retool tools on a daily basis and they have great customer support if we run into issue.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Would benefit from themes or ability to expand on colour pallete.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Filling in the gap for various las mile related issues we initially had in our fulfillment company.

  ### 47. Powerful UI tool for developers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Khang T. | Head of Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Well designed both visually as well as technically. Intuitive design that makes sense to someone who is familiar with front-end development. Flexible enough to serve a wide range of needs, but rigid enough to ensure best practices.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

There's definitely a learning curve. Was super frustrating at first but after grinding through mistakes for a week, I got the hang of it and now I'm flying.

You can be non-technical but it's really helpful if you know how to code and understand front-end concepts.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Don't need a FE engineer to build something production ready

  ### 48. Easy to use tool.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrius J. | Quality Assurance Quality Control, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool makes it easy for me to connect all my data sources, from databases to APIs, in one place.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Since Retool is managed, I’m tied to its update schedule and features, which limits some of my custom needs.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool simplifies building internal tools by connecting my data sources fast, letting me create functional apps without heavy coding.

  ### 49. Incredibly Valuable
