## Raycast Reviews
  ### 1. Perfect Spotlight Replacement with Amazing Performance and Integrations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrea B. | Frontend Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Raycast?**

Raycast is the perfect app to replace Spotlight! I tried Alfred before but have never been happy about it, even if it has many features I always felt something missing. Raycast is perfect for the job and it has been able to replace some applications I was using.

It offers plenty of integration, the performance are amazing and have to tell you I also updated my subscription into a paid one because the ability to quickly open AI chat and ask to it quick questions that that's too co comfy for me.

**What do you dislike about Raycast?**

You know what? I don't have much to dislike Rycast about. I'm pretty curious about the version 2 that they are about to introduce, but beside that, no complaints at all.

**What problems is Raycast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Raycast is a beast as substitute of spotlight from Apple.

As I said before, I was also trying to use Alfred, but Raycast it's just one level above everything because as soon as you start to understand how it works and the shortcuts that provides to you you never get back!

Probably the fact that with just a single application you can replace multiple application like your launcher (obviously), but also window management, password management, clipboard management, text expander and stuff like that...

There are plenty of extensions in the store that will help you out in so many ways that I can't even count.

  ### 2. A Daily Essential Across Devices with Powerful AI and Shortcuts

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** José C. | Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Raycast?**

Is part of my critical road, i literally use it all day across all my devices including my phone. Shortcuts, window re-arragement, and it's AI capabilities are part of my every minute. Pricing is decent, considering the amount of time it saves me.

**What do you dislike about Raycast?**

Even when AI capabilities are able to consume my own tokens, the mobile app is not so; This means I still depend on limits from their own tokens which is the only reason I still havent fully moved out of other ai tools.
It integrates awesome with spotify, and support is also great via their slack community.

**What problems is Raycast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Window re-arragenemnt: Declutters my screen
App shortcuts: Switching in a sec between apps, just using muscle memory.
Clipboard: Accesing previous copied items with a simple shortcut its the best. I perform like never before.

  ### 3. "Spotlight Killer with Superpowers" or "Essential Tool for Power Users"

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohamed I. | Associate Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Raycast?**

The incredible speed and flexibility of the extensions. I love being able to connect all my services (GitHub, Notion, Linear) and perform actions without ever leaving the launcher. The Snippets and Clipboard History are indispensable, and the built-in features like Window Management and Quicklink search make it a true all-in-one productivity hub. It saves me tons of time every day.

**What do you dislike about Raycast?**

While the extension marketplace is growing, some key integrations are still missing or less mature than competitors' plugins. Also, the setup for certain features can be a little intimidating for a beginner, requiring a bit of a learning curve to truly unlock its power. The full feature set is primarily for macOS, limiting utility if I switch operating systems frequently.

**What problems is Raycast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problem Solved: Constant context switching and reliance on the mouse. Before Raycast, simple tasks like searching a team ticket, starting a timer, or checking my clipboard history required interrupting my flow to open a browser tab, a specific app, or an external utility.

Benefit: Raycast consolidates dozens of repetitive actions into a single, keyboard-first command palette. This has resulted in a significant boost in productivity and focus. I save countless minutes every day by creating, searching, and managing tasks in tools like Linear, Notion, and GitHub directly from the launcher. It's essentially a control center that prevents me from getting distracted by my desktop or browser.

  ### 4. A Productivity Powerhouse Packed with Tools

Plethora of tools to boost productivity.

  ### 5. Build custom tools coded with known libraries. Perfect for a Software Developer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Raycast?**

Let me start with the basic pros of Raycast. It sticks to the design language of Mac Os. It comes with bunch of extensions in built and you can do basic things like calculations.

The best thing about Raycast is that it lets you build custom extensions using React. You just install one or two libraries in npm project and code. The dev tools are also very easy to work with.

**What do you dislike about Raycast?**

I never do file search as I am relatively organised and tend to locate the files. When I tried (may be once or twice) to search files in Raycast it was bad experience.

When you are typing a command it searches in applications and built in commands. But as a backup it doesn't search anywhere else. I prefer it to be google search but some might want files search. It supports neither.

**What problems is Raycast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easily build custom search commands that trigger a wide range of actions and that also allow to show information on UI.

  ### 6. A MacOS launcher that offers many options, but on a steep learning curve.

**What do you like best about Raycast?**

Raycast does simplify repetative activities, and give the user a one-stop-shop for many different task they may have.

**What do you dislike about Raycast?**

I find that there is a steep learning curve, as to get full potential of the application there are many text and keyboard shortcuts to learn, and if you don't use it often, you can find yourself always needing to look them up.

**What problems is Raycast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making repetative task easier, by offer one place to fulfill them.

  ### 10. The best app on my Mac

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yuri K. | Software Engineer (Ruby) / SCRUM Master at Profitero, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Raycast?**

I'm happy! I've found a replacement for Alfred - it's more customizable and has great extensions. It has all the functionality I need for my daily work.

**What do you dislike about Raycast?**

Navigation can be annoying when I'm trying to exit an extension. If I'm too deep in my plugin, I have to press the Esc key multiple times. There doesn't seem to be a workaround for this minor issue.

**What problems is Raycast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Raycast's killer feature is its integration with ChatGPT. I'm willing to pay for it. I select text written in my poor English, press a hotkey, and it automatically replaces it with an improved version. Fantastic! I also really love that Raycast has a hotkey for everything! It's another killer feature for technical people like me. I love having the ability to not use my mouse.

  ### 15. Best Alfred alternative

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Franciszek D. | Entrepreneur, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2022

**What do you like best about Raycast?**

Raycast is a superior Alfred alternative. Not only is it free but packed with a ton of useful features. Moreover, it is actively developed so updates are published frequently. Raycast itself is one of my best productivity tools – quick access to files, an advanced calculator, paste-bin manager and useful apps developed by the Raycast community are amongst my favorite features.

**What do you dislike about Raycast?**

Sometimes it is still a little bugy. The problem with community-created apps is that not every one of them is created in the best possible way. Because of that Raycast sometimes crashes.

**What problems is Raycast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping me with accessing all my files that are hidden on my computer. Index feature works way better than Spotlight on MacOS and that's the biggest benefit of Raycast.
