**Reviewed by:** Luis M. | CEO, Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Raspbian?**

Honestly, the ease with which you can configure the various options available on the motherboard running this operating system greatly reduces setup time. It is very user-friendly and easy to interact with and make changes.

**What do you dislike about Raspbian?**

Let's say that my dissatisfaction with the point I am about to mention is NOT so much dissatisfaction, but it could be interesting and useful for those of us who already know and use it in equipment, to be able to have the same distribution but adapted to one or two other motherboard options that exist on the market and are intended for embedded development.

**What problems is Raspbian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The possibility of having an operating system distribution for both 32-bit and 64-bit that supports multiple versions of the Raspberry Pi motherboard solves the problem of having to invent a custom OS in order to get the most out of the hardware features available on each of the motherboards where it can be embedded.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Raspbian?**

My favorite thing about Raspbian (Raspberry Pi OS) is how light and optimized it is for the Raspberry Pi hardware. It runs smoothly even on older versions, and the interface is simple and clean, making it easy for new users and experienced users alike to navigate. The huge user base is a definite boon, too — if I ever encounter issues, I can usually find a tutorial or forum thread that contains the answer. I also like just how simple it is to install software with APT and just how smoothly GPIO and other Pi-specific features play together. It's also very easy to implement and integrate, even when you are constantly using it.

**What do you dislike about Raspbian?**

The sole downside to Raspbian is that, aesthetically, it looks a bit dated compared to the interfaces of newer OS'. It's a bit rough around the edges, and more resource-hungry applications will occasionally lag, especially on older Pi iterations. Also, while the community is great, official customer support isn't really a thing — you're relying on forums and community help for the most part. Advanced users might find some limitations if they try to push the Pi beyond typical use cases.

**What problems is Raspbian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Raspbian (Raspberry Pi OS) bridges the gap of having a stable, lightweight, and optimized operating system that runs efficiently on low-power, low-cost Raspberry Pi hardware. It makes learning programming, electronics projects, and Linux extremely easy without the need for expensive or high-performance computers.

**Reviewed by:** Anubhav M. | Electrical Engineer, Automotive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Raspbian?**

It is very stable. The OS Raspberry Pi SBCs are tailored for, and you can see it on the standard functionality out of the box. Recommend this OS if you are tinkering with it for the first time or if you are not entirely sure of how things in an SBC work. The system has most tools needed to control the onboard peripherals like the GPIO and comes bundled with all the basic stuff needed to make a computer run like one.

**What do you dislike about Raspbian?**

It takes up a lot of RAM on devices that already don't have much RAM, which can be a deal-breaker for people trying to implement something more sophisticated on it. It also has the problem that it might not work well with all scientific and robotic community tools well, so people should consider trying other more advanced and streamlined distros out there.

**What problems is Raspbian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been using it for Robot control systems and all sorts of Industrial and Home automation projects. They are affordable and very very reliable in simple projects. But they stopped working on more sophisticated tasks, but it is still a great place to start.
