&lt;p&gt;Honest answer for admissions: the virtual map moves the needle for students who were never going to visit, international and long-distance applicants, and is a nice-to-have for everyone else. So the metric worth tracking isn&#39;t total tour views, it&#39;s what share of enrolled students from far-away regions touched the map before applying. Framed that way it&#39;s either clearly earning its keep or clearly decoration, and both answers are useful.&lt;/p&gt;
