Particularly noteworthy is the ability to integrate custom user code in C#. This allows practically all requirements to be implemented, making Ranorex extremely versatile. The integration with our SQL database also works smoothly. Test data can be easily integrated and used. The modular structure allows for the reuse of code and recording modules, and test cases as well as test suites can be well constructed and comfortably linked with the test data from the database through data binding. The reporting is overall very clear and provides the relevant information in a well-prepared form. Also very helpful is the Ranorex Spy, which allows UI elements to be reliably identified. Overall, Ranorex offers comfortable, clear working and represents a very powerful test automation tool. **What do you dislike about Ranorex Studio?** There are only a few points that are disruptive in everyday life. The Ranorex Spy occasionally shows instabilities and can, in rare cases, even cause Ranorex to crash. This problem can be mitigated by clicking save in Ranorex Studio before using the Spy, so no data is lost. However, it is still somewhat annoying. Small font. Lack of options to change default settings. Not reliably usable in combination with some open programs (MS-Teams). For mobile tests, the application must be uninstalled from the device and installed with an installation file. Support is hard to communicate with, never seem to understand the root of the issue, and our sales rep changes monthly. Took years to resolve a blocking issue that kept us on old versions. Reporting works well for small tests, but becomes unuseable in any sort of large scale tests. **Recommendations to others considering Ranorex Studio:** Make sure it works with ALL the technologies you want to test. Several times we had to tediously report the same problem over and over again as we were shuffled around by support teams who had no continuity for our support case. And when our support expired again for a period during which we could not use the program, Ranorex referred us to another support purchase, still without a working solution. These are generally possible in a selenium coding environment but obviously take longer to create. also, it doesn't support flutter for mobile app testing. The other major issue that we keep hitting is Ranorex requires access to the gui aspect of window. So unlike with Selenium, where you can to a degree continue to use your machine for other activites, it requires full control of your machine. This means your local machine (if running tests locally) will be redundant for the duration of your test run. The other issue relating to this is it seems to be a nightmare to actually get this working with Jenkins. The machine need to be run with a Jeenkins node but requires it to be a physical machine. We tried various virtual solutions but as our test pack is heavily image validation oriented is seems to be impossible to get a clean run on a virtual machine without spending thousands to create a real-like virtual machine (at which point its cheaper to buy a real machine). another issue we are facing is multiple users working with Ranorex is a nightmare, doing code review, code completion etc. we always have a nightmare when it comes to code merge time, its usually the most scariest time know full well someone will likely loose all their work and we will have to rebuild the tests **Recommendations to others considering Ranorex Studio:** Great software and worth giving it a go to see if it meets your business requirements. Simple functionality for selecting objects within the app using the Ranorex Spy tool. Building the test cases is done almost entirely without code which is great for users who are not developers. **What do you dislike about Ranorex Studio?** There are a couple of features which other automation platforms have which aren't in Ranorex in standard, such as the ability to clear the app cache using pre-existing functionality. This can be worked around with using ADB and some minor coding though.
