## ProtoPie Reviews
  ### 1. My honest review of ProtoPie

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2023

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

ProtoPie is a remarkably user-friendly design tool that outshines other prototyping software, including Figma. Its extensive feature set makes it a versatile choice for designers. Notably, ProtoPie Connect allows seamless device-to-device connections for testing and refining interactions. Device preview ensures a consistent user experience, while features like cloud saving and design handoff simplify collaboration and sharing. ProtoPie is an all-encompassing tool suitable for both beginners and experienced designers.

Not to mention the great community and customer experience of the Protopie team, they helped me with many challenges I've encountered and guided me through them.

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

While ProtoPie is an excellent tool, there is room for improvement. It would be great to see features like 4K interaction recording and the ability to use custom code in specific prototyping cases in the future. Additionally, addressing and fixing some of the existing bugs would enhance the overall user experience.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ProtoPie helped me with prototyping challenges that I couldn't do with Figma, and helped me understand how to prototype even better.

  ### 2. Bug-ridden with an archaic interface and lack of basic necessities, but many advanced features

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ira X. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2023

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

• Simple interaction model
• A lot of possibilities and flexibility with variables, formulas, and conditional logic
• Easily sync to phone

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

• Significant lack of parity when importing from Figma
• Component libraries are very buggy with antiquated management and have never worked correctly
• The desktop app’s cloud integration was done halfway with poor ability to manage and find files
• No collaboration
• Most bugs get buried and de-prioritized over industry-hyped features (e.g. voice, QR code scanning) and still exist YEARS later
• No gradient
• No fonts - Although just launched for Enterprise-only. In 2023.
• No auto layout (or equivalent)
• The desktop app’s interface is outdated and buggy with little or no affordances to work efficiently

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Any prototyping tool that enables the exploration and validation of ideas will be beneficial, but the issue with ProtoPie is the process by which we get there. It's inefficient and slow with a lot of barriers when you encounter bugs.

  ### 3. The best advanced interactive prototyping tool in the market

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohamed E. | Senior Product Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2023

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

It's advanced prototyping capabilities using functions via its simple interface , screen transition and components animation.
Litteraly , while using protopie , we feel like the sky is the limit!

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

Actually, Nothing.
Maybe what frustrates me , very few times i have to restart the app to function properly.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communicating both simple and complex design ideas/patterns with all different types of stakeholders and users.
Our team use it for wide range of activities and purposes, either usability testing , devs interactions handoff , or getting the buy in from top level management.

  ### 4. Simple & easy to use prototyping tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shubham S. | Product Manager - Platform, Growth & UX (L1), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2023

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

It's easy, it's as simple to use that in one day only you can learn the tool and start working on it. I've used it to make prototypes of my final designs, it provides quiet good animations to customize.

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

Don't find any, just sometimes stuck on my system. A little heavy on the system but still very good.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prototyping final designs, & ability to share with anyone. It feels like you're playing a coded app, but actually, it's just prototyped via ProtoPie.

  ### 5. Protopie is a powerful prototyping tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2023

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

It can customize a lot and it can easy communicate how to code the prototype with the developer

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

It cannot customize the mockup and I need to record the animation and add the mockup by myself. I also hope that can have a automatic play prototype function, which will allow me to play it automatically.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used to use aftereffects to make prototypes. The Protopie provides a new solution for me to make interactable prototype which is great.

  ### 6. Protopie is great for functions and accurate prototypes

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Noemi 🌸 B. | Community Leader (Berlin) , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2022

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

Protopie has a lot of functionalities for pretty advanced protoypes, easily compatible with Sketch, I always use it flawless - collaborating a lot with my team of designers

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

The learning path about using Protopie at its fullest is a bit longer than I expected. But after learning a great toolset is provided.

**Recommendations to others considering ProtoPie:**

Compared to other tools, Protopie has much more options to animate your designs. It comes with a little more complexity tho.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Protopie, designers can create what before was possible only by having code knowledge.

  ### 7. Great for highly realistic prototypes, but a bit of a learning curve

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eirik S. | Product Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2021

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

Things I like most about Protopie:
 - They have a number of educational resources and communities you can join to learn the software
 - You can create realistic apps that anyone can download straight to a phone just by scanning a QR code
 - The desktop clickable prototypes can be shared with just a link
 -

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

What I dislike:
 - It takes a while to understand how to make a high-definition prototype and get the basics of interaction design
 - When working with desktop software prototypes, the layer map and interaction editors cut a large portion of the viewable screen off
 - There is no auto-layout when you're working with layers, so sometimes it can seem like editing layers takes an excessively long time
 - It wasn't easy to set up shared components

**Recommendations to others considering ProtoPie:**

I would investigate how important realistic prototypes are to your workflow. Figma's prototyping is excellent for fast prototypes and basic click-throughs. You'll want only to use ProtoPie when you're ready for high-fidelity mock-ups otherwise, you'll find a lot of back and forth editing between Figma & ProtoPie.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was looking to take Figma designs and turn them into realistic prototypes. I've tested Framer and found that ProtoPie does what I need it to do. The level of control you have with the interaction design is fantastic.

  ### 8. Great for complex prototyping

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alvaro E. | P, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2021

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

Protopie allows our team to create complex interactions and animations for some prototypes. We dont run everything on protopie since figma protoyping tool is sometimes enought

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

Its pretty complicated to start off. Some heavy training needs to be done before getting used to prototyping on this tool. Would love more tutorials.

**Recommendations to others considering ProtoPie:**

If you need to protype complex interactions on your mobile app or web protopie is the way to go

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving the fact that some interactions or transformations cannot be animated on figma.

  ### 9. Easy to use and understand

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Teana K. | Creative Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2021

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

The walkthroughs and resources for newbies are great. The partnership usage alongside XD is very good. I find the two are a good solution for your prototyping projects. I like the month to month subscription. Pricing is reasonable.

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

Its a little hard to pickup in the beginning, so you do need to spend a bit of time learning the basics. Once you do get it, things will start to click a bit better. I tried to squeeze all I needed to do in the one month trial. That didnt work out so great, so I paid for two months to suit my project.

**Recommendations to others considering ProtoPie:**

Take some timeout to learn the features, use the one month free trial to do that.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The interactive presentation of a protoype to a client would be the highlight for me. You can show a mockup from the design side of a product, but the additional animations add that extra wow factor.

  ### 10. Best Prototyping tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** shivani b. | Article Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2021

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

ProtoPie is one of the most widely used prototyping tool, It is chosen by me because it possesses a large number of features that made the process quick. It meets the industry-level standers required for making interactive prototypes. Often the development of app and websites seek to get prototypes before final designs could be made, for which there are multiple other options also like Figma, sketch AdobeXD, and much more, but protopie is the one I recommend because it's quick to learn, import files from other design tools, easy collaborations, can also make complex interactions also, and much more.

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

You here have only 30 days of free trial and later you have to pay for it according to the degree of work and collaborations you make on it. It's a drawback because there are also other tools that offer better packs. It also has limited learning materials provided by protopie itself.

**Recommendations to others considering ProtoPie:**

If you getting into UI/UX design then you can go for protopie for your prototyping needs.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Often once the designs are done clients prefer to get them on their hands and feel how will that actually looks and interacts, for which you would need a tool like protopie. I use protopie also to make some micro-interactions that add a touch to the design.

  ### 11. Powerful prototyping with a straightforward UI

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam B. | Senior UI/UX Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2021

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

Powerful control over how the prototype will function, making it possible to create a prototype that feels very close to the real thing.

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

It takes more time to set up basic things like button states (normal, hover, click, etc) compared to competitors. No support for video camera on desktop.

**Recommendations to others considering ProtoPie:**

It will take a bit while to understand how to set up rules fully, but once you got it, it's a cakewalk from there.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Protopie helped immensely with two things: identifying gaps in UI/UX design and observing the value of the products before committing fully to it.

  ### 12. Advanced prototyping without coding

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marcelo S. | Senior Product Designer, Egencia, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2021

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

I loved how Protopie allows users to create experiences with advanced interactions, such as camera access, voice, accelerometer access, interaction between devices, etc. All without traditional coding, although variables allow users to create more complex interactions with logic. There are even some 3d tools that I was not able to explore as well!

Before Protopie, we either had simple and fast prototype tools (Invision, Figma) and complex ones involving code (Framer, Origami). I believe the tool hits the sweet spot between ease of use and powerful features.

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

Interaction with Figma is still clumsy. I'd usually prefer to recreate the interfaces directly on Protopie to ensure the prototype worked 100% correctly.

When I used the tool in 2019, there were not many materials and tutorials available on the web. However, I've seen a much bigger community online for learning and sharing knowledge today. The growing community is useful since a good way of learning how to make a complex interaction is by downloading existing prototypes and inspecting their solutions.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me, it was the creation of complex prototypes involving features that go beyond navigation: interactive animations, camera access, accelerometer, native keyboard...

I was able to easily create, for example, a prototype that played on different phones one specific instrument (channel) of a song in synchronization. That would probably have taken weeks to code.

Figma is still my favorite tool when creating simple prototypes showing navigation between screens. For higher fidelity prototyping, though, Protopie allows designers to create prototypes that are almost impossible to discern from the real thing.

  ### 13. Beginner friendly, needs improvement on collaborative designing.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kathleen K. | R, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2021

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

It was very easy to use the software as someone newer to high fidelity prototyping. I also like how well it worked with Adobe XD, but I will say you need both programs for a solid design. On its own the designing process is finicky and a little frustrating, but together it's very easy to do.

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

The way to do group work could be greatly improved. Only one person at a time could work on our app and it made the process slower than it needed to be.

**Recommendations to others considering ProtoPie:**

Don't be hesitant to look up tutorials. They help a lot.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used protopie to develop a high fidelity app prototype for stydent work. It was beneficial to have a high level of functionality, such as keyboard usage and user input.

  ### 14. An Efficient and Effective Prototyping Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Atanu K S. | Graduate Research Assistant, Higher Education, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2021

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

This is a pretty new concept of a very simple but effective prototyping tool for establishing interactions among versatile interfaces seamlessly. There are several workshops and tutorial videos to make you skilled in using the ProtoPie interface. You can download the software with a 30days free trial. The software is extremely useful to visualize the user interface to mimic the user experience effectively. The built-in library is also helpful to automate operations among different synchronous systems.

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

As a new software, there are very few things that I dislike. Of course, the built-in graphics art and tool library needs to be enriched. Also, opportunities for creating very hardcore animations are still limited.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using the ProtoPie tool for generating an interactive interface of vision assistive tools (smart eye glass) for driving a car.

  ### 15. Hands-down the best prototyping tool - I can't live without it.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2021

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

ProtoPie is super simple to pick up, and allows me to create super realistic prototypes, which helps with stakeholders and user-testing.

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

Depending on the size of your file, sometimes it can take a while to load.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating super realistic Prototypes with all the micro-interactions has really helped to develop the products I work on. Being able to send a link to a fully-fledged prototype has been invaluable in getting work signed off, or developing new ideas at a faster pace.

  ### 16. Protopie review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Atakan B. | UX/UI Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2021

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

I like the Figma plugin of Protopie. I can easily export screens from Figma to Protopie.

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

I dislike their difficulty level. Their app really isn't beginner-friendly. They need to improve tutorials.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Motion design. I can create motion with protopie.

  ### 17. Interesting Solution for UX/UI Design Prototypes

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raman G. | Confidential, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2020

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

I liked that it has a lot of tutorials available, and I can import files directly from Adobe XD or Sketch. It's very easy to learn the basics of micro animations and make very interesting transitions that would take a lot of time to make in other software like Adobe Aftereffects. The animations are In addition, it has 30 days free trial that gives enough time to the user to test the software features, and afterward around $13 per month which is very cost-effective.

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

Making advanced animations might become tricky sometimes and hard to make. Also, I wish I could add more editors in the free version. Currently, the max number of editors in the free version is limited to 2 users which makes it harder to use it in the university while many students are hesitant to pay and have to find alternative software because of that.

**Recommendations to others considering ProtoPie:**

I recommend watching tutorials online as much as possible and start by making basics animations first. The software might look a little bit hard to learn in the begging but after making several animations it becomes much easier to work with.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to make high fidelity prototypes and interactive solutions with Protopie and share them with my clients. It makes it easier to share the ideas with the engineers and test them with the users. Making animation is very trendy in the UX/UI industry these days and can add so much value to the designers' portfolios.

  ### 18. The best mobile app prototyping tool

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Max Y. | Senior UX Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed by:** Bob W. | Product Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2021

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

The prototyping capabilities beat Figma with more possibilities

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

It's less intuitive than Figma in that the learning curve is fairly steep

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not really problems but there are a lot of opportunities to build more complex prototypes with Protopie

  ### 20. I used protopie with sketch, and find it super easy to create walk throughs for stake holders.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam W. | Professional Freelancer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2021

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

The ability to communicate with sketch through plugins.

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

Wish there was more if this than that tools

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm solving for quick prototypes. Again, the benefits is just how fast I'm able to link up screens from sketch with the plug-in.

  ### 21. ProtoPie as the main tool for high fidelity prototype.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2021

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

Performance, fast learning curve, and integration with other tools.

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

I would have liked a free license with limited functionality for training courses.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem that I solve is client engagement and understanding. With Proto Pie I can share an high fidelity draft, intelligible to avoid misunderstanding in the design process.

  ### 22. I like using ProtoPie for animations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2021

**What do you like best about ProtoPie?**

It was easy to learn how to use this tool as the interface is quite familiar and responsive

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

I don`t use ProtoPie for large parts of projects, just for showing small interactions
I had no difficulties so far, but I see ProtoPie only as a side tool

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I do main prototyping tasks using other tools such as Figma, then I open up Protopie only to create and show some animations

  ### 23. Kinda hard to adapt, really complicates

It is the only tools that gives me the capability to prototype complex fluid interactions without code.

**What do you dislike about ProtoPie?**

I wish that the product had better import features for Adobe XD. I wish that the program was faster and more stable and had better font support on mobile devices.

**Recommendations to others considering ProtoPie:**

This product is still being developed, but the team is adding features all the time.

**What problems is ProtoPie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me wow clients and get more business. It helps me quickly evaluate designs with users.
