After a few weeks, I noticed I was answering simple prompts before translating everything into English first. I mainly use the audio lessons, Voice Coach, and Quick Match. The app has a simple layout, so I can start a lesson without looking through lots of menus. I also like that I can continue lessons on my phone wherever I am, which helped me stay consistent. The AI pronunciation feedback gave me more confidence to repeat words until they sounded closer to what I was hearing.The most helpful thing was that I stopped treating Chinese as something to memorize and started treating it as something to respond to. **What do you dislike about Pimsleur?** Sometimes I want to review one specific dialogue or expression that I remember from an earlier lesson, but finding that exact section isn't always quick. I usually end up replaying more of the lesson than I actually need. I also wish there were a few more practice activities after finishing a lesson to reinforce new phrases. **What problems is Pimsleur solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before using Pimsleur, my learning routine was mostly watching random videos and writing vocabulary in a notebook. I remembered words for a day or two, but I struggled to use them naturally.One evening I watched a short travel video from China and was surprised that I understood a few greetings and simple questions before looking at the subtitles. It wasn't a full conversation, but it was the first time I reacted naturally instead of mentally translating every sentence.The lessons run smoothly on my phone, so I rarely notice delays while practicing. I think the subscription is reasonable because I use it almost every day, although it may feel expensive if someone only studies occasionally. I haven't needed to contact support because getting started was straightforward and the lessons explain the learning flow clearly. As a result, I now practice listening and speaking every day instead of only collecting vocabulary that I forget a week later. ### 2. Pimsleur walks you through each syllable of the word several times allowing you time to repeat. I used Pimsleur before traveling to France and after only a few months practice I had a lot of compliments on my pronunciation while I was there. **What do you dislike about Pimsleur?** I only used the audio due to time limits, I listened while on my commute to and from work. I think using the full visual would allow for better writing skills. My writing and spelling suffered from only using the audio **What problems is Pimsleur solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have used Pimsleur for French and Spanish to gain the basics when traveling for work. This has allowed for a better feeling for the culture and relationship with colleagues abroad. It is amazing what just the basics can get you! ### 3. The main part of the program is listening to audios and practicing with them. As you listen, it prompts you to use the words and reminds you of their meaning. After the daily lessons, you could practice vocabulary using flash cards and quizzes. It made the review fun and allowed you to see as well as hear the words. **What do you dislike about Pimsleur?** I would have liked it to be more portable. When I used it, it was on my laptop. It would have been nice to have on my phone. **Recommendations to others considering Pimsleur:** Make sure this is something you can practice every day. If you miss a couple of days, you'll have to repeat lessons. **What problems is Pimsleur solving and how is that benefiting you?** This program gives you real situations and conversations, putting the vocabulary into context.
