## Piazza Reviews
  ### 1. It is a student's go to tool for every possible problem in academics.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** sam m. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Piazza?**

Piazza helps me connect seamlessly with my instructor and classmates in just one go. Piazza helps me post and answer questions simultaneously in public while also being able to send private messages to my instructor and classmates.

**What do you dislike about Piazza?**

Piazza is more like Gmail, and the user interface is quite dull. The fact that its primarily used by students, the app needs to add better features in terms of look and feel.

**What problems is Piazza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Piazza has an excellent section for dividing the messages subject-wise and also notifying the instructor's important messages showing the number of high-priority messages to be checked.

  ### 2. Academic Query Solver

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vinod K. | Venture Founder - CORE, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Piazza?**

With Piazza you can easily ask queries and doubt in forum which is easily responded by Instructor, teaching assistance and fellow students. It is also used by instructors to check our involvement in studies.

**What do you dislike about Piazza?**

The only issue is that UI needs to be improved a little bit and mobile version is required for notification instead of notification on mails. Sometimes we miss the updates.

**Recommendations to others considering Piazza:**

Very good for student engagement.

**What problems is Piazza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using Piazza for my academic classes and to get help in completing the assignments. It really helps in getting good scores when your peers provide answer to your questions.

  ### 3. A reasonably good question-answer platform for classes

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Piazza?**

Piazza has most of the features one would want in a question-answer platform for classes; there are instructors, TAs, and students who can post notes, questions, and answers.

**What do you dislike about Piazza?**

The UI of Piazza isn't the best, and there are some bugs here and there - for instance, sometimes the app crashes, or redirecting/linking to other questions doesn't work correctly. It would also be better if students were able to delete their own posts and archive classes that are over. It also feels like they are not doing as much

**What problems is Piazza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Piazza is helpful for running and taking courses; there are statistics for the instructors, and other features such as polling, endorsing, commenting, anonymity, and following that make the platform useful.

  ### 4. Where everyone has a slice of Pizza

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Niyati M. | Cyber Security Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Piazza?**

I like the different modes of posting questions.
Tagging only a certain group of people is a nice feature. That is, if a student has doubt only for instructors and not the whole class, he/she can easily apply that specific feature.

**What do you dislike about Piazza?**

All the features of Piazza are quite handy. Although, the search feature has some issues on my end. When I try to search for some posts with certain keywords, it does not filter it well. However, if I search with @post_number, it filters out. Remembering the post number all-time the becomes troublesome.

Other than the search feature, managing the dashboard is a little difficult, as there are too many tabs to navigate. A based format may help.

Instead of minor issues, the major features behind the portal makes it fun to use and work with.

**Recommendations to others considering Piazza:**

Compared to other portals, Piazza is quite helpful in connecting with classmates and solving doubts in group. Especially, in this virtual world right now, it has been very helpful for communication.

Overall, this is a great tool.

**What problems is Piazza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like the anonymous mode of their theme. I am a very shy person and always fumbled on asking questions in class. I used to think about what others would think. With Anonymous mode, I get my doubts solved by asking the lame to the diciest. This works well for every student. The structured and thoughtful format of Piazza makes everyone love it.

  ### 5. Good course support platform, interface could be made more intuitive

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Piazza?**

I like that Piazza allows students to post notes or questions to their peers in a course in a way that is intuitive and fairly easy to use. It is very useful that on the landing page one can see what the latest posts have been and how many are unanswered under the 'class at a glance' section. I also like that at the top of the page, assuming Piazza is being used for a class where there are different assignments, one can see a list of tabs with each assignment that they can then click to go to. Overall, the interface is fairly simple but effective and allows for students (or users in general) to access information easily and quickly.

**What do you dislike about Piazza?**

Every now and then over a semester using Piazza as a student in an advanced methodology course in a PhD program, I noticed that the posts statistics would take a while to update. For example, I could see that a peer had already answered a question that had been posted an previously unanswered, check out the answer, and then later on in the day log into Piazza and notice that the question once again showed up as unanswered. While this wasn't terribly inconvenient, it was a little confusing upon login and required students to figure out if the lag in the page update was due to a new question actually being posted, or simply to a delay in the page updating.

**What problems is Piazza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using Piazza to track assignments for an advanced doctoral methodology class, and to stay updated on instructor comments and notes. With Piazza, I am able to access assignments both current and past, and see comments from professors and graders easily. I can also see announcements about upcoming class easily, and I am able to access lecture materials and download them easily. Piazza has the benefit of ease of use and quick communication across all members of a group (in this case, a class) without overloading everyone's email inboxes.

  ### 6. A Really Nice Q&A Platform for Courses

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Piazza?**

Everything is very intuitive and easy to use in Piazza. It only takes a few minutes to set up a new class. The interface is pleasing and efficient. I like that students can ask questions anonymously. I also like how customizable everything is, and how easy it is to change settings. The ability to type math symbols and write code in posts makes it an excellent choice for STEM courses.

**What do you dislike about Piazza?**

The phone app version has limited functionality. Also, when running in the browser, sometimes I have trouble getting the cursor to appear in the post window when I click in the field where you're supposed to type the post.

**What problems is Piazza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Piazza allows me to answer students' homework questions efficiently outside of class. I don't have to type the same answer a bunch of times in various emails. Often, the students will answer each others' questions also.

  ### 7. Complicated and can be useful but there are better softwares

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Piazza?**

There are two things I really like. First, any post (notes or question) can be pinned and can be assigned to a folder. This helps users to filter old posts by specific topics. Second, posts can be anonymous or public.

**What do you dislike about Piazza?**

What I dislike is just that there are more user-friendly tools. Specifically, in an educational setting, Blackboard is a much better online tool.

**Recommendations to others considering Piazza:**

I do recommend this product. It is not a bad tool to use in an educational setting. I do not recommend using this product in combination with another tool, such as Blackboard, because they are quite similar. Blackboard is a better tool, however, if using Piazza, I would use it alone.

**What problems is Piazza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Piazza has been used at the university I am employed at. I have used it to communicate with the students in my class. It does lead to better communication between the students and allows me to answer questions in a way that all students can see the answer.

  ### 8. Great Learning Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jamie E. | Social Media Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Piazza?**

I love how interactive this platform is. It Is so easy to ask questions, get answers, and interact with other using this platform. I used it specifically while in a statistics class which was great because it provided the opportunity for peer to peer question and answer dialogue which was mutually beneficial. Students got the answers that they were looking for, and those who were answering questions were displaying understanding of material and practicing implementation.

**What do you dislike about Piazza?**

The user interface could be more updated, but that doesn't take away from the excellence of the platform.

**Recommendations to others considering Piazza:**

For those considering Piazza, I would recommend it as a learning tool. Particularly if you have larger groups that need to be able to ask questions. The other great capability with Piazza is the ability to endorse answers, allowing everyone to chime in, but giving an endorsement to the best and most accurate answer.

**What problems is Piazza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem that Piazza solved was a need for a place to ask questions, where professors weren't having to answer every question, and where the same question didn't have to be answered multiple times. The benefits were efficiency, mainly in time for everyone. But the other benefit was in the learning process, explaining concepts helped students learn and implement their knowledge.

  ### 9. Simple and Effective

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harjot S. | Student, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Piazza?**

Piazza is an effective platform for a streamlined forum. I used it as a student for an undergraduate class, and it was a simple way to communicate with the class and professor to ask and answer questions about the course and assignments. I enjoyed the ability to easily have access to this type of communication and it greatly improved my productivity in the course.

**What do you dislike about Piazza?**

I did not have too much that I disliked, however, one thing I wish was better was the organization of posts. I think the platform would be more effective if it were possible to organize the posts into specific categories (e.g. a category for each assignment, etc.). This way it would be much easier to search through posts.

**Recommendations to others considering Piazza:**

Piazza is a simple to use and effective platform that I would recommend for use with any large groups such as classes.

**What problems is Piazza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used Piazza to improve communication between the professor and students in an undergraduate course. WIth PIazza, academic courses are becoming more streamlined and students are more engaged in the course.

  ### 10. Piazza is a no-frills approach to communications, wiki formation, and mathematical discussion.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Piazza?**

The interface is functional. Posts are easily categorized and searchable with options to add media. LaTeX functionality is good. Information is stored in a Wiki like format, which adds more permanancy than other forum like offering such as Slack or Discord.

**What do you dislike about Piazza?**

Piazza offers opportunities for social networking and job searching, but are these features actually useful when we have services like LinkedIn?

**What problems is Piazza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I participated in a graduate level applied mathematics course. The Piazza format is far superior to our university's online education platform, Canvas. The layout provides a strong medium for exchanging discussion on mathematical topics. Couple this with the ability to share files and images, and we have a good repository for user questions and answers to be understood.

  ### 11. Convenient classroom tool

**What do you dislike about Piazza?**

Sometimes it can be glitchy when I want to type an answer. There will be times where it won't let me type.

**What problems is Piazza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Effective student/teacher communication through Piazza has benefited me throughout undergrad.

  ### 13. Great tool for collaborative learning and discussions

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Piazza?**

Easy to communicate with a closed group, share updates, start new threads and discussions, customizable alerts to mailbox. Where to use- university setup for example, for a discussion among professor and students of the particular course. For example professor can create tabs like exams, assignment number one, two, etc and then students can click the tabs and create various threads like problems in assignment three and start discussions where everyone contributes. this is very easy to use and recommended for even an office setup.

**What do you dislike about Piazza?**

Has limited, by invitation closed group access only

**Recommendations to others considering Piazza:**

please use this for close group discussion

I am an instructor and Iuse piazza to clear doubts students post on piazza.

  ### 16. Convenient Q&A

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Isabel O. | Product and Engineering Team Intern, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Piazza?**

I like that not only are we allowed to ask professors questions, we are also allowed to leave comments under other students' posts in case a professor cannot get to the question immediately.

**What do you dislike about Piazza?**

I dislike the general format of the website, it can seem unwieldy at times.

**What problems is Piazza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Piazza allows me to ask questions to professors in a more convenient and streamlined way than an email.

  ### 17. Piazza at the Master's Degree Level

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Piazza?**

For online education, it provides necessary communication that is easy to use and easy to search. Can it be done for each separate class? Great for public announcements.

**What do you dislike about Piazza?**

If you accidentally post a private post publicly, even if you change it, it still appears in Digest send outs. It's easy to make that mistake. Sometimes, the search wouldn't take me to a specific place, only to a high level, forcing me to scroll through everything.

**Recommendations to others considering Piazza:**

For distance education, absolutely. It's the best option available.

**What problems is Piazza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

distance education collegiality and communication with fellow students, professor, and TA. Also

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Piazza?**

I like the features in questions that mark answered/unanswered, if an answer was an instructor and/or endorsed, and if follow ups are unresolved.

**What do you dislike about Piazza?**

The piazza career features sometimes feel like clutter. Also, gettin notified about resource updates would be useful.

I use it as a student in a large class with many TAs working to answer questions, etc

Piazza was straightforward to use for the online calculus course that I had used it for. Links, videos, and resources provided on the instructor was easily accessible on piazza.

There were too many notifications as a students and sometimes the website could feel overwhelmed due to all the tabs that could be open for the duration of the online course.

**What problems is Piazza solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This was not used in a business setting per say. It was used in an online math course to promote peer communication in helping each other in math problems.
