I dislike the limitation of the free version of PDFCreator, which only allows the creation of PDFs from one file at a time. What do you like best about PDFCreator?

I really appreciate how simply PDFCreator lets me turn virtually any printable document into a PDF. Whether it’s Word, Excel, images or something printed from a web browser, I hit “Print”, select the PDFCreator printer and off I go. Reviews highlight its ease-of-use and ability to automate file saving and naming.

Software Advice

On top of that, I like its built-in security options: encryption, password protection, digital signatures. Those features give me confidence when sharing docs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PDFCreator?

While it does the job well, there are a couple of minor things. Some users say it becomes slow or even crashes on larger tasks.

In its free version, there have been past issues around bundled toolbars and optional ad software during installation, which can be a concern if you don’t pay attention during installation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PDFCreator solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before using it, I had to worry about document formatting differences across machines (Word versions, fonts, layout) and about ensuring that when I sent something it wouldn’t get inadvertently modified by the recipient. PDFCreator solves that by creating a consistent PDF output that looks the same everywhere, and allows me to secure it so that editing/copying is locked down.

It has also saved time because I can define profiles (auto-save to folder with date/username, merge files, print automatically) which makes routine document-processing faster.

In short: PDFCreator lets me produce professional, secure PDFs from all kinds of sources with minimal fuss, and frees me from worrying about “Will the layout break when I send this?” or “Did someone accidentally edit it?”. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The software also solves formatting issues, ensuring that when I send a PDF, I am assured that the layout won't be altered when viewed on someone else's computer. Additionally, its compatibility with Microsoft Word and Excel is a significant benefit for me, offering the quickest method to convert final documents or spreadsheets into PDFs without having to use the save-as option within those programs. With the default settings, it produces PDFs that are good quality while still fairly lightweight (for example, in Word, the native “Save as PDF” option creates a heavier file). You can also adjust the existing profiles or create your own custom ones.

When creating PDFs, you can add extra information such as the author’s name or keywords, merge multiple documents into a single file, rotate individual pages, and send the PDF directly by email. It’s also available in a wide range of languages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PDFCreator?

The free version lets you do quite a few things, but some features (for example, deleting pages when merging multiple documents) require the paid premium version. When merging files, the design of the hint that appears at the bottom—telling you that you can drag files to change their order—could be improved, as it’s easy to miss. Also, when creating a PDF, a kind of summary window pops up, and until you close it you can’t create any other documents. I find it a bit annoying to have to check whether you’ve left an open window somewhere when the PDF creator suddenly isn’t working. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PDFCreator solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use it as a virtual printer to save any document as a PDF, and it’s available in any context where the print function can be called. I find it especially useful because I can merge multiple files into a single PDF and also save images as PDFs, without needing to rely on other dedicated software. Overall, it saves me time because these tasks can be done quickly and with minimal effort. It also generates lightweight files that I can easily send by email.
