It has a drag and drop interface with plenty of options. I only have a PDF reader installed but occassionally need some of these tools that readers simply do not have. PDFsam allows me to modify my PDFs without having to purchase more software. **What do you dislike about PDFsam Basic?** Not much to dislike. Especially for a free program. The only other feature I wish it had was a way to convert PDF pages into an image like JPEG. But this can easily be done in GIMP. **What problems is PDFsam Basic solving and how is that benefiting you?** Most of our staff only needs a PDF reader to accomplish most of their tasks. There are however times when a PDF needs editing. Purchasing a PDF editor would be pricey and a bit of overkill for its occassional use. PDFsam is free and easy to use. Making installation and training very easy. It has multiple task settings so you can really get a lot done in a quick and easy manner. We use to use online tool but that requires internet connection and concerns about privacy. PDFsam runs locally. ### 2. Other functionalities associated with the electronic signature may be available in the future, so we hope to see new versions that incorporate this possibility. **What problems is PDFsam Basic solving and how is that benefiting you?** With PDFsam basic, we can do many things with PDF documents, such as merge and split documents, as well as standard features such as rotating pages or documents, reorganizing pages and many more. It allows you to combine/merge multiple PDF documents while allowing you to reverse the pages of individual source documents if required. It also allows simple merging, splitting, rotating of pages, extracting, and some other features, and everything just works, every time. It even allows you to "drag and drop" your documents into the program window, and automatically uses the same source folder as the destination. Simply put - it always works, it's user-friendly and really simple to use, and it's fast. Go ahead, try it, you will not regret it. **What do you dislike about PDFsam Basic?** I honestly cannot think of a single thing that I dislike about the program. I have recommended it to several friends/colleagues, and they have all been impressed with it. **Recommendations to others considering PDFsam Basic:** My go-to program for combining/merging and splitting/extracting PDF docs, I don't even think twice. **What problems is PDFsam Basic solving and how is that benefiting you?** When scanning duplex/two-sided documents, sometimes the backs of the pages scan in reverse order. To then combine the documents again can take some effort, but this program makes it so simple. Of course, the other features are also very handy. ### 4. It lets me split and merge PDFs in addition to other things. All I need to do is to drop the PDFs, reorder them, and select merge. It also has an option to normalize the sizes of pages so that the merged file has a consistent page size throughout the document. Splitting PDFs is equally easy! Just select the file and set how you want it to be separated; like each page or after a specific page. And of course you can opt in to pay a fee and use the enhanced version which has more capabilities but for my basic needs, the free version is more than enough. **What do you dislike about PDFsam Basic?** While PDFsam Basic is fast and has no issues by itself, the update procedure is not that much! Sometimes the updating process gets stuck at 99% and sometimes the program doesn't run after the update therefore I have to restart the machine. **What problems is PDFsam Basic solving and how is that benefiting you?** Mostly, I use it to merge or split PDFs. It is a simple and fast solution and helps me save a great amount of time and hence be more productive. ### 5. I have not had any inconvenience when using it is very good. **Recommendations to others considering PDFsam Basic:** It is a software that I would recommend to anyone because of its great utility in a few steps you can cut or join several documents in a single file, allowing you to edit easily and with simple instructions. the truth is a software that does not take up much requirement of our computer and that needs many improvements to make it more attractive to its users. **What problems is PDFsam Basic solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have this tool primarily when we receive documents in quantity and we want to unify it in a single document, since you learn to use it simply, its functionality will become much more practical for everyone. Although its functionality is limited, it is an excellent software that in my opinion convinces my expectations. ### 8. The print controls take some getting used to and do not follow standard conventions. The featured set of the upgrade is great...if you can get them to work. **What do you dislike about PDFsam Basic?** I purchased the upgrades. When I first purchased the upgrade Pro I was very pleased. I followed this with the OCR purchase which is fare, but not great. The thing that is monumentally frustrating is that after a month or so where these features worked fine, I had to reinstall. OK, software is software... no big deal, just reinstall. But since then, I have to reinstall EVERYTIME I try to use these advanced festures!?! I click on the 'activate feature' popup and it takes me to a sales page....aargh. What's worse is that with repeated emails to the company, I GET NO REPLIES. Furthermore, as a user you don't have an account with any purchase history on their site, so I have to go back to my email and find the confirmation mail for the upgrade and click the link there. Today, I did the reinstall again. After having to shut down all related applications (msft office apps) it went through the full 10 min upgrade routine and when I reopened PDFSam they aren't working at all ... grrrr. So, if the Basic provides what you need, by all means use that. But, if you want the advanced features I'd look at a different software product. **What problems is PDFsam Basic solving and how is that benefiting you?** When it works, using it to create pdf's from multiple documents, markup pdf's and extract pdf content. ### 9. With this software, you have the basic options to use in everyday life when working with PDFs. Another thing that I find very useful is that for the use of this software, it is not necessary to create a user account or register. **What do you dislike about PDFsam Basic?** What I don't like about this program is that it doesn't have an editing option. With this functionality available, it would be an essential program, but without this functionality, I have to resort to other software. Simply put, its name indicates that it is basic and allows you to do very simple but fundamental things, meaning its scope of work is not broad, but that doesn't mean the program doesn't fulfill its purpose. **What problems is PDFsam Basic solving and how is that benefiting you?** The function I use the most in this program is the one that allows extracting sections from a document or, alternatively, combining several into one. This tool works locally on your computer without any internet connection, it may have some occasional flaws in its usefulness and functionality but each new version brings different solutions. **Recommendations to others considering PDFsam Basic:** It not only allows you to view PDF documents or edit them, it allows you to rotate the document display, to create several types of files in one. PDFSam Basic includes tools such as PDF Merge, PDF Split, PDF Mix, PDF Rotate and PDF Extract. I liked the PDF file mixing tool that allows you to combine them into one by following some criteria or pattern that you can point out in its options menu. At first, implementing it can be somewhat complicated but the online help offered by PDFSam is very useful and with it, you can complete the task successfully. **What do you dislike about PDFsam Basic?** It does not allow you to create, edit and convert PDF documents, unless you install PFSam Enhanced. **Recommendations to others considering PDFsam Basic:** I recommend trying the tool to mix PDF. With this application you can only split (in number of pages or size in Mb or Kb), extract pages, combine, rotate and mix PDF documents. It called my attention the option to divide a PDF document into several documents taking into account the weight in MB or KB indicated by the user. PDFSam Basic is offered as a free tool. **What do you dislike about PDFsam Basic?** Other options are also included in the dashboard (such as generate PDF as a virtual printer, convert PDF to Excel, Word, and edit, crop, delete pages and visual combine or reorder PDF documents), but require downloading the PDFSam Enhanced application and paying by activating several of those options. It is also powerful as I have used it to merge PDF's with over 100 pages in them for email. It has well thought out little features like option to automatically adding a table of contents when merging PDF's. **What do you dislike about PDFsam Basic?** The ability to preview PDF's within the software before merging, splitting etc. It just requires you to open the PDF separately then close it before you can make edits in PDFsam Basic. I also could not find how to password protect files but I believe it has this feature. **Recommendations to others considering PDFsam Basic:** Give a try as its free for all of the basic features. Its also great that its an offline tool so you don't need to upload documents that might be sensitive to a server. The premium features add a lot of value as well I just wish you could preview PDF files before you edit them to double check what page needs editing or to be split. **What problems is PDFsam Basic solving and how is that benefiting you?** The ability to merge massive PDF's without crashing and in a small file size that can be shared or sent. If the file is way too big it will split it bu size limit so you can send the PDF in parts. The software makes managing PDF's easy. ### 15. You can even rotate pages and change the order of the pages, if needed. You can also split by page number or size. There is even a way to Bookmark certain pages and split them according to the Bookmark, but I have not used that function. **What problems is PDFsam Basic solving and how is that benefiting you?** I take multiple documents and merge them together into one document, making it easier to print multiple documents at the same time. Intercalation / Mixing of several PDF files to create a single final document. Union of two or more PDF files (one after the other) Splitting a PDF file (in single pages) Customize the orientation of each of the pages of a PDF. Modify the orientation for all pages of a PDF. Surely you have ever found a PDF longer than a book. These files are somewhat heavy and the editor spends a lot of resources when opening them. With PDFsam you can divide them to make them more manageable. It is also possible otherwise, that you want to join several files. In all these occasions PDFsam will be the appropriate tool. The program saves the forms, the images and graphics without altering them at all when joining and dividing. Instead of buying a service such as Adobe, it can cost hundreds of dollars for a program you might only use a couple of times a year! I always need to merge PDFs at work and for school, and PDFSam allows me to do that with ease. The initial website is very simple and easy on the eyes. All you need to do is download the program to your computer, and use PDF Sam for all of your PDF needs. It can split files, merge 2 or more into 1, and even take away pages from a file. It can do a lot more than that too for free! It's quick to download and get the hand of. **What do you dislike about PDFsam Basic?** The initial website is a little simple, and the advertisement banner on top can be deceiving to new people using the website. The banner ad could potentially be a virus but it says "Download Here". I believe PDF Sam should advertise a different service on their largest banner ad. The website seems a little dated but it still gets the job done. **Recommendations to others considering PDFsam Basic:** Quick download and saves a lot of money for businesses. **What problems is PDFsam Basic solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm solving financial problems and organization. With PDFsam Basic I'm able to edit my PDFs easily and do whatever I need to do with them instead of paying Adobe. The financial problems I'm solving is not paying Adobe to do the things I am able to do with PDFsam Basic. Adobe can be hundreds of dollars and PDFsam is free. ### 22.
