I rely on the Contour tool constantly to visually explore millions of rows of historical data without having to write complex SQL queries from scratch every single time. The pipeline builder interface is surprisingly intuitive for connecting different sources once you see how the logic flows together. An unexpected benefit was discovering the incredibly detailed data lineage tracking, which honestly saved me hours of debugging by showing me exactly where a broken metric originated from upstream. **What do you dislike about Palantir Foundry?** The initial learning curve for wrapping your head around their specific terminology and data mapping logic was honestly pretty overwhelming when I first started during onboarding. It definitely takes some serious hands-on practice reading through the documentation to figure out exactly how to structure the backend data models correctly so your frontend dashboards actually load fast. **What problems is Palantir Foundry solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before bringing this platform in, we were literally wasting weeks trying to manually combine exports from completely disconnected legacy systems just to answer basic supply chain questions. Plus, it's easy to code with plenty of libraries available. The training material online, as well as the Palantir forum, is good for solving problems we encounter. I also find the pipeline builder to be the most valuable tool for me, making our repetitive tasks easier and saving a lot of project man hours organization-wide. **What do you dislike about Palantir Foundry?** There are issues like the database issue which needs to be addressed. Also, we have to manually provide access to files and coordinate between departments, which can be cumbersome. What I use daily is lineage. If one of my upstream datasets changes or a transformation is outputting something unexpected, I can see where my data is coming from and which jobs downstream are using it rather than manually inspecting each pipeline. **What do you dislike about Palantir Foundry?** The main struggle I initially faced was the learning curve. I had familiarity with SQL, Spark, and how data workflows are generally handled in the cloud. It's powerful enough to build whatever I need within it. I really appreciate the ontology manager; it's such an interesting concept because I haven't seen anything like that in other platforms. It allows me to convert my table into an ontology, and it connects everything directly within Palantir, abstracting all the connections for me. This feature stands out as it simplifies how objects are connected, making the process seamless. **What do you dislike about Palantir Foundry?** I think the advantage I mentioned before can also be a disadvantage in some cases because with Palantir, you're expected to build everything within the same platform. So if you, by any chance, have data in other places, then it could be a little hard to bring that into Palantir. Also, there is quite a learning curve. It's not the easiest platform to pick up on, so you'll need someone to walk you through it, how to build it. And because it's such a broad platform, even if there is a package already built out, if you don't know how it works, then it can be challenging to follow the lineage and figure it out yourself. **What problems is Palantir Foundry solving and how is that benefiting you?** I find Palantir Foundry's biggest advantage is having every part of the pipeline within it, with everything so connected. The learning curve is so steep that teams will never be able to truly democratize data across their organization, leaving teams unable to analyze even the most straightforward data. The environment is painful to extract and import data from, meaning your data engineers are frequently fighting fires. **What problems is Palantir Foundry solving and how is that benefiting you?** Theoretically this application is supposed to be for us to securely manage our big data and build applications on top of that, but honestly I don't see that we are accomplishing any of those goals with Foundry. ### 17. The user interface is also easy to navigate and very user-friendly. **What do you dislike about Palantir Foundry?** The analysis algorithm is not up to the mark as even with noise-free data it does not bring accuracy to the table. Another barrier I found was the data capacity as after a certain limit the software takes a large amount of time to execute and sometimes even fails in between. **What problems is Palantir Foundry solving and how is that benefiting you?** The software helps in the overall management of the data chunks fed, the analysis algorithm has also helped me to a certain extent and I am quite impressed with the security around data provided here. ### 19. I think my favorite feature is that you can easily change columns -- the multi-column editor function is a lifesaver.
