It has essentially removed our need for production designers, freeing up their time to continue building our brand and evolving it. Our Storefront does the workload of about 15 designers every month. **What do you dislike about Pageflex?** Very few and small things. I love the software and once you get past the learning curve of Studio, it's just great. You can customize almost every aspect of your products and if you have a dev background, you can do so much with it. **What problems is Pageflex solving and how is that benefiting you?** Production design staffing. Our Storefront currently does the workload of about 15 designers. ### 2. It took some time to learn but after learning its very informative and interesting **What do you dislike about Pageflex?** I don't find any tutorials online and not able to learn very easily. I don't find any tool tips or how to help topics for the feature and options in Pageflex software. **What problems is Pageflex solving and how is that benefiting you?** I do create variable documents for brochure, flyer and print materials for Pubs and restaurants in UK company. ### 3. What I like the most is that is caters to all levels. If you are an entry level "tech" person, you can absolutely get templates online and create a modern looking Storefront with relatively little effort. However, if you have more advanced talent, or can outsource to someone with Pageflex expertise, you can really create stunning Storefronts with all kinds of integration opportunities to create very custom workflows. **What do you dislike about Pageflex?** There is a learning curve for the more advanced features for sure. But, the payoff is big. If you can dedicate a body to learning Pageflex or bring in a Pageflex expert from outside, this is an easy problem to overcome. **Recommendations to others considering Pageflex:** If you are considering for entry level Storefronts - dive right in! If you are anticipating more complex needs, make sure that you have someone in-house who is familiar with scripting, BootStrap, and CSS. Or, make sure you can budget some outside resources. **What problems is Pageflex solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Pageflex for all kinds of customers. From quick stationary related sites to fully automated custom workflows for static and variable collateral. Pageflex Storefront is a great benefit for our customers because it allows to "fast-forward" past the common, redundant, parts that trip up some companies trying to get started with it's built in ability to take various payment types, built in shopping cart, and notifications. You can jump right to the meat of your site. ### 4. Storefront makes it difficult to create modern and easy to manage sites for the client. However, I’m pretty sure my company is using heavily outdated products. **Recommendations to others considering Pageflex:** I think the more updated Pageflex stuff has more features but because of my company integrating our own software with Pageflex they haven’t taken the time to try and update Pageflex due to issues making both programs work together. **What problems is Pageflex solving and how is that benefiting you?** It makes creating e-commerce sites for marketing collateral and stationery easy and allows print companies to keep ip with the changing digital age that needs customization options. ### 5. The overall setup experience has always been very cumbersome and outdated. Having used other tools that makes the process much more efficient, using pageflex would only slow me down. **What problems is Pageflex solving and how is that benefiting you?** I was solely using it to set up VDP templates for clients, which I was able to successfully do. With any VDP tool, the benefit of being able to design and program variable templates without needing to work with a programmer was great. ### 6. Sales people need to actively sell this solution to customers at every opportunity. **What problems is Pageflex solving and how is that benefiting you?** Freeing clients time from approving individual artwork creations, by creating locked down pre-approved designs which can adhere to strict corporate guidelines. ### 8. It really can't be beat. **What do you dislike about Pageflex?** The user interface can sometimes be a bit counter intuitive. **What problems is Pageflex solving and how is that benefiting you?** We send lots of very personalized Direct Mail. Customers respond much better when they can be segmented and targeted with specific creative. They've come to expect it from email, it's nice to deliver it in physical mail as well. ### 9. Processes thousands of complex records very quickly. **What do you dislike about Pageflex?** Font usage and how it hands embedded fonts in PDFs. **What problems is Pageflex solving and how is that benefiting you?** With Pageflex we reduced the number of direct mail pieces we produced annually by creating fewer highly personalized mail merges. Also got to work on a lot of unique projects like producing the season ticket holder booklets for the local hockey and baseball team. This was a very in depth project that used barcodes, multiple dates, seats, images and team logo. It was crucial that everything was just right and Pageflex made this project much more manageable. **What do you dislike about Pageflex?** A lot of clients wanted the capability to have a drop shadow. We were able to make a work around and create the files InDesign and import them into the pageflex files but it was very time consuming. Also would be interested in future capabilities that would connect to excel. A lot of times we would have to manipulate the data to work with Pageflex. **Recommendations to others considering Pageflex:** It's a great program once you get the hang of it. There is a huge learning curve but luckily I had a co-worker that was an expertise that was able to guide me. I feel like it took about a month to feel comfortable in the program and another 2-3 months to hardly need any guidance anymore. **What problems is Pageflex solving and how is that benefiting you?** Sending out a lot of VDP postcards and brochures for colleges. Also, used storefront a lot for internal company ordering of custom posters, business cards and pamphlets. Really helped to streamline so many projects. Enjoyed the ability that the Storefront gave our clients; saved our customer service reps and designer times and clients got to instantly see what their business cards, poster, etc was going to look like. ### 13. Other programs require a full sync to a website in order to test the programmed variables, especially asset-linked images and word lists. **What do you dislike about Pageflex?** The PDF previews in Pageflex are a bit archaic in regards to loading speed and image quality. I usually have to create a lower-resolution version of every image that could be displayed in the PDF preview in order for the generation time/quality to function properly. While this is a successful work-around to the issue, this only works with pre-uploaded images available in the programming choices. Consequently, the issue persists with user-uploaded images. **Recommendations to others considering Pageflex:** I have programmed products with over 100 variables, and Pageflex has been able to accommodate all customer requests. The only issue I have ever come across is the limitations with generate high-resolution files via the PDF preview. As some magazine articles can be well over 100 pages in length, adjusting or creating lo-resolution versions of page images can be quite cumbersome. **What problems is Pageflex solving and how is that benefiting you?** Image copy fitting has worked wonders with customer's logo uploads onto business cards, magazine spreads. etc. ### 14. You can program without having programming language skills. It is fun to use and there are several different ways to use Pageflex, whether it is for a Storefront with customizable templates or if it is used for automating mail merges. **What do you dislike about Pageflex?** It is a great application, but is possibly becoming obsolete. It has not had any major updates with more sophisticated features added for a long time. Inline editing did not function very well. **What problems is Pageflex solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have used several applications for building customizable templates including Chili Publish, XMPie, and a tool called LiveDocs which was part of the Seismic Sales enablement solution. Pageflex has one advantage over these products in that it has auto-grow capabilities. For instance you can set it up to automatically insert additional pages if a user enters a large amount of text into a field. You can also set up a variable length document, and give users the option to select a single page pdf, or a multiple page pdf and the document will auto-grow to accomodate this. ### 18.
