"Fast, Flexible, and Enterprise-Ready, A 3-Year Perspective"
4.5/5
What do you like best about OutSystems?

With three years of hands-on OutSystems development, what stands out most to me is the speed-to-value ratio. I can build and ship enterprise features in days—work that would take weeks in traditional stacks—without losing control, because dropping into custom code or JavaScript when needed is seamless.

A few things have consistently impressed me. One-click deploy and rollback across environments makes release management painless. Reusable modules let you build once and plug in everywhere, which helps keep large codebases maintainable. The Forge marketplace is a huge time-saver; I rarely need to build integrations from scratch. The built-in performance guardrails are also valuable: the platform flags bad practices like N+1 queries and missing indexes before they turn into production issues. Finally, strong versioning and environment management keep dev/QA/prod promotion smooth, even on large teams.

After three years, it’s become my go-to for enterprise apps where both speed and governance matter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

After about three years of use, I’ve run into a few pain points:

Licensing costs can get expensive as the number of apps and users scales, especially in larger enterprise environments. There’s also a steep learning curve when you start building more complex logic visual flows can get cluttered quickly with advanced business rules, and they can sometimes be harder to debug than plain code. Platform lock-in is another concern; once you’re deeply invested, migrating away becomes a significant undertaking. Finally, IDE performance can slow down on very large modules, and Service Studio may start to lag as applications grow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Accelerates SDLC with Low-Code Automation and Strong Compliance"
4.5/5
What do you like best about OutSystems?

OS abstracts the entire infrastructure operations layer while accelerating the full SDLC with its low-code, decade-long knowledge. At the same time, it stays HIPAA- and FedRAMP-compliant on the fly. It also works as a strong layer above the agentic frameworks on the market, thanks to its plug-and-play connectors whil allowing to easily switch to your own ai models and bringing your own keys. Their tutorials, certifications and community are a very strong driver. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

The pricing is high, and their portal is a bit sluggish. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Outsystems Overall review"
5/5
What do you like best about OutSystems?

Fast application development, rich built-in widgets, easy application management through Service Center, automated logging for faster troubleshooting, powerful Timers and BPT, AI Mentor Studio for performance recommendations, and seamless integration with a wide range of external systems and tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

Debugging also needs more refinement, including the ability to manipulate values at runtime while debugging. A clearer folder hierarchy should be available to separate the web block.

For a better view of SQL data, there should be a built-in window or tool to run SQL queries and view results from more than two entities in the same results pane.

There should be window where we can see the generated result of an expression during debug time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerfull low code Tool"
5/5
What do you like best about OutSystems?

One of the most exciting things I've seen in OutSystems recently is its evolution from a low-code platform to a true Agentic AI platform. The introduction of AI-assisted application development through Mentor is a game changer. With just a BRD or even a simple prompt, it can generate a solid starting point for an application, which can significantly speed up the development process.

Another feature that really impressed me is the Agent Builder. It makes it easy to create AI agents and supports orchestrated agents, allowing multiple agents to work together to handle complex business scenarios. These capabilities take application development to a whole new level, and I'm excited to see how they can improve both developer productivity and business outcomes. What do you dislike about OutSystems?

In one of my previous improvement sessions, I had suggested providing an easier way to migrate Traditional Web applications to Reactive Web. I'm glad to see that OutSystems has now introduced this capability. It will significantly reduce the effort involved in modernizing older applications and make migration much smoother for customers with existing OutSystems investments.

One area that still needs improvement is the OutSystems ODC On-Premises installation experience. Compared to the cloud offering, setting up and configuring ODC On-Premises is quite complex and requires considerable effort. I believe simplifying and stabilizing the on-premises installation process would make ODC adoption much easier for customers who prefer or require on-premises deployments. "Our Applications with OutSystems: Agile and Powerful"
5/5
What do you like best about OutSystems?

I love using OutSystems to develop enterprise applications. The platform is incredibly agile, powerful, robust, and secure. Application development is very powerful and versatile, making it the best option on the market for me. Additionally, it allows for the creation of fully responsive web, mobile, and React applications, which is truly spectacular. I have been using it for 11 years and have seen great evolution in its versions, which has improved our efficiency. OutSystems also minimizes errors in production releases thanks to its deployment capabilities, which has drastically reduced our errors when launching new versions. All this makes being with OutSystems a decision we are very happy with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

The mentoring part has room for improvement. It requires several iterations to achieve the desired result, and I feel it still needs polishing in that aspect. Additionally, they require too many integrations, which I consider an area where they could improve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I mainly like the speed with which we can deliver applications, much faster than a conventional system. I also greatly value the support we receive from the provider whenever we need it. Another aspect I appreciate is the security it offers us to protect customer information, which is crucial for our business. Additionally, the ease of implementation has been significant, with support from the provider making it much simpler. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

I find that sometimes integration with other platforms has been challenging. However, with support, we can resolve it, but I think the ability to integrate with other environments or platforms could be improved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"OutSystems: A Game-Changer for Swift, Scalable, and Personalized Development"
4/5
What do you like best about OutSystems?

As a devoted OutSystems developer, I've found the platform to be a game-changer. Its low-code environment accelerates development, turning weeks into days. OutSystems effortlessly scales from small projects to enterprise solutions without sacrificing simplicity. Collaboration is seamless, promoting teamwork and faster decision-making. In essence, OutSystems isn't just a development platform; it's the epitome of quick, scalable, and personalized software development. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

The platform's licensing costs could be perceived as relatively high for smaller projects or individual developers. Lastly, the dependency on the platform for hosting might be a drawback for those who prefer more control over their infrastructure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Amazing platform heading in the wrong direction"
3.5/5
What do you like best about OutSystems?

What I like the most is the easy of develpment, versioning and lifecycle.

A platform that is easy to bring new developers and expand the community. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

I dislike a lot the direction OutSystems Platform is going where more and more the platform is closing down.

For me this is a very concerning thing since to fully support live critical applications, we need to be fully in control and be able to do proper throubleshooting. The lack of access to the environment, database and hotfix procedure can make a small issue currently blocking the business a very time consuming task.

One thing that I also dislike is the way developers create unit tests, this should be something integrated in the platform.

Making this part of the platform it could easily integrate deployment cycles since this is a critical part for a proper CICD. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"OutSystems Speeds Delivery with a Powerful Visual Low-Code Platform"
4/5
What do you like best about OutSystems?

What I like about OutSystems is the visual interface. I don’t have to dig through hundreds of lines of code just to track down a single bug, and I don’t need to write thousands of lines to put together simple logic or even a basic component. Depending on what I’m trying to build, I can drag and drop UI components for speed, or customize them with custom code when I need more control. Also the platform simplifies integrating with external systems whether an application needs to consume a modern REST API or SOAP or other major enterprise systems. Unlike basic low-code form builders, Outsystems compiles visual maps down into optimized standard .NET/C# code which provides tremendous performance. The financial return on investment is immediate regarding time-to-market. Projects that take months in standard code are delivered in weeks. It cuts down technical debt and significantly reduces long term maintenance cost. Outsystems is at forefront of the shift towards agentic AI. With Outsystems Mentor, developers can generate functional UI, logic and schemas using natural language prompts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

Outsystems is an enterprise-tier tool with a premium price tag. Even the entry-level pricing is steep, which makes it largely inaccessible for small startups, independent developers, and small businesses. Licensing costs scale based on the number of end users or the complexity of the application objects, where screens, entities, and REST API methods are each counted as an AO. Because pricing is tied to users, applications with millions of anonymous users or low-revenue users should not consider Outsystems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"OutSystems Speeds Idea-to-Production with Maintainable, Modular Apps"
5/5
What do you like best about OutSystems?

What I like best about OutSystems is how quickly you can go from an idea to a working, production-ready application, without sacrificing maintainability or integration with existing systems.

I find the visual development model together with strong support for modular architecture (core modules, services, and reusable components) very helpful for keeping complex applications understandable and easy to evolve over time. The built-in tooling for CI/CD, environment management, and performance monitoring reduces a lot of operational overhead compared to traditional custom stacks.

Another upside is the way OutSystems handles integration with databases and external services, giving you both speed (scaffolding, automatic CRUD) and enough control to apply proper optimization and security practices. Overall, it lets teams deliver robust applications faster while still applying solid engineering principles, which is what I value most. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

OutSystems is expensive, with high licensing costs that scale with users and application objects, making it hard to justify for small teams or low‑margin products. Pricing model is complex and hard to predict as apps grow, which increases anxiety about vendor lock‑in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
