## Mysql workbench Reviews
  ### 1. Easy Data Handling with Helpful ER Diagrams, Exports, and Admin Tools

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gaurav S. | Product Development Engineer, Program Development, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Mysql workbench?**

It’s easy to work with a large amount of data in a simple table format, and you can also visualize those tables as an ER Diagram, which is very helpful for finding the links between tables. The user management tools, server logs, and the ability to export the database in .sql format are really handy features.

**What do you dislike about Mysql workbench?**

If you have a large number of tables, doing reverse engineering and creating an ER diagram isn’t possible automatically—you have to do it manually. I really hate that. I struggled a lot because of it, and the ER diagram page is very small, so you can only fit a maximum of about 10–15 tables.

Also, when you open a table it automatically creates tabs, and you have to close them manually. Sometimes it’s hard to find which tabs are still open, especially when you’re working on a query.

Changing the font size is also really complicated. I had to search online just to figure out how to do it.

**What problems is Mysql workbench solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MySQL Workbench helped me solve complex database management and migration challenges. For example, when I had to migrate data from 800+ tables to MongoDB, it made it much easier to understand table relationships and visualize the structure through ER diagrams and SQL views.

From a UI/UX perspective, it’s clean and fairly intuitive, especially for writing queries. Features like auto-complete and query history save a lot of time. Performance is generally good for most tasks, though it can slow down a bit with very large datasets.

In terms of integrations, it works well within the MySQL ecosystem and supports standard database workflows, though integration with non-MySQL systems could be better.

Pricing-wise, since it’s free, the ROI is excellent for developers and small teams. For onboarding, it’s relatively easy to get started, and there’s plenty of community support and documentation available, even if official support is limited.

It doesn’t offer much AI-based functionality, but features like query auto-complete and basic suggestions still help speed up work and reduce errors.

**What do you like best about Mysql workbench?**

One of MySQL Workbench's unique advantages is its extensive collection of tools and features that make database maintenance jobs simple and efficient. First and foremost, MySQL Workbench's graphical user interface (GUI) is simple to use and intuitive, making it simple for inexperienced and seasoned users to browse and utilise the programme. The well-organized layout and aesthetically pleasing design increase productivity and shorten the learning curve.

A selection of potent tools for database design, development, and management is provided by MySQL Workbench. Users may easily construct and alter database schemas using the visual database design tool, which visually presents tables, relationships, and constraints. Database design and modelling are significantly streamlined by this functionality, saving time and effort.

Another noteworthy feature

**What do you dislike about Mysql workbench?**

While MySQL Workbench offers many great features, there are a few areas where it could be improved. One aspect that can be frustrating at times is the performance when working with large databases or executing complex queries. The software might experience lag or slow response times, particularly when dealing with extensive datasets or running resource-intensive operations. This can hinder productivity and lead to delays in completing tasks.

Another area for improvement is the documentation and online resources available for MySQL Workbench. While resources and tutorials are available, the official documentation can be lacking in detail and clarity for certain advanced features or scenarios. Additionally, the community support and online forums for troubleshooting and seeking help can sometimes be limited or less active than other database management tools.

Furthermore, MySQL Workbench lacks cross-platform compatibility to some extent. Although it is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, the user experience and performance may vary across different operating systems. Some users have reported inconsistencies or compatibility issues when using MySQL Workbench on specific platforms, which can be frustrating for users who work across multiple environments.

Lastly, the software could benefit from more frequent updates and bug fixes. While MySQL Workbench has been a reliable tool for many years, there have been instances where specific bugs or issues have persisted for extended periods before being addressed. A more proactive approach to releasing updates and addressing user-reported problems would enhance the software's overall stability and user experience.

Despite these limitations, MySQL Workbench remains a powerful and widely used tool for managing MySQL databases, and its strengths often outweigh its shortcomings. With continued development and improvement, it has the potential to become an even more compelling choice for developers and database administrators.

**What problems is Mysql workbench solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MySQL Workbench solves several problems related to MySQL database management, benefiting users in various ways. Firstly, it addresses the challenge of database design and modelling by providing a visual interface that simplifies the creation and modification of database schemas. This eliminates the need for manual script writing, reducing errors and saving time. The intuitive layout and user-friendly GUI make it accessible even for those with limited database design experience.

Another problem MySQL Workbench tackles is the complexity of writing and executing SQL queries. With its integrated query editor, users can write SQL statements with ease. The tool offers syntax highlighting and code completion features, helping users write correct queries faster. This enhances productivity and reduces the likelihood of syntax errors, resulting in more reliable and efficient query execution.

MySQL Workbench also addresses the challenges of database administration. It provides a centralised platform for managing database servers, user accounts, and server configurations. This eliminates manual server administration, making configuring and managing database environments more straightforward. Additionally, the performance analysis tools within MySQL Workbench enable administrators to identify and resolve performance issues, ensuring optimal database performance.

Furthermore, MySQL Workbench aids in collaboration and version control. Integrating with popular version control systems like Git allows multiple developers to work on the same database schema simultaneously. This helps to streamline teamwork, track changes, and ensure consistency in database development. Documenting and sharing the database structure enhances communication and knowledge sharing among team members.

MySQL Workbench simplifies and streamlines MySQL database management, addressing common pain points in database design, SQL query development, administration, collaboration, and documentation. Its user-friendly interface, time-saving features, and comprehensive toolset benefit users by improving productivity, reducing errors, and facilitating effective teamwork.

  ### 12. MySQL Workbench is a beauty in query

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sayan B. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2023

**What do you like best about Mysql workbench?**

First of all the UI of MySQL Workbench attracts me every time I open it, because it has very minimalistic UI that every user will like it definitely. According to me the most helpful thing about this the Information tab of tables. We can see the details of the table by just clicking on the table name. The information like which column has Primary key or any constraints, what data type has the column etc. The export database backup with data and import that is very easy in MySQL Workbench.

**What do you dislike about Mysql workbench?**

When there is multiple darabase and I've opened multiple table from multiple database then from tab name it is not possible to indentify that the table belongs to which database. Now that's makes a confusion. There should be indication of database with the table name in the query tab and in the Schemas section there aslo should indication that which databases are connected.

**What problems is Mysql workbench solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used to use MySQL Workbench for writing, executing query on my project's databases and overall maintaing and manipulation of data of my project's.
The inline row edit from a result set, this features helps a lot in respect to time management. Because if need to change only one value of one row then I have to write a query in other editors but in MySQL Workbench I can edit inline. It helps a lot.

I also dislike the fact that the tool is crushing. If I don't save my work quite often, I have to repeat all steps over again.
I imported a large volume of data from FDA site. Yes, I understand that I have to complain to the source - but the data sets had errors. Import just crushes along with the tool and it does not say why and where. I had to manually sift through millions of records using other tools to be able to delete bad records. It would be nice if the data cleanup facility be incorporated into the tool.

**What problems is Mysql workbench solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Importing large data sets in CSV format
2. Extraction of specific information from large volumes of data.
3. Checking hypotheses regarding data correlation
4. Answering one-off client requests

  ### 26. Everthing i need

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Madhav P. | Back End Engineer Intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Mysql workbench?**

I can easily connect to many databases by sorting the connections in a group and adding many groups, reverse engineering the database to make a model is the best feature ever

**What do you dislike about Mysql workbench?**

the interface is a bit old they should at least revamp the interface and make the features more understanding to new users, very old interface, there should be a help search bar through which I can search the features

**What problems is Mysql workbench solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can easily reverse-engineer my database to make its model which I can easily rearrange to my needs I can easily export files from DB to CSV very easy

  ### 27. A fast tool to alter the changes in Database directly

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aditya J. | Security Delivery Analyst - Identity and Access Management, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Mysql workbench?**

This is fast tool to do any changes from backend. It gives the result through sql query which makes it faster.
I have been using this tool since 2 years when I joined current project. The best thing I like about workbench is, it is fast to modify directly in database and it results quickly.
It is very easy to setup on the system

**What do you dislike about Mysql workbench?**

A bit bad experience I had was, during initial days I faced some problems in installing and getting it setup in my system. When I tried to get help from support, I could not get. Thereafter I found there was some issue in private key generation and importation. I did it through ssh key generator and which helped me in getting in configured.

**What problems is Mysql workbench solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my current project, I am using this tool since 2 years. In my current project, we manage SAML and OIDC protocols based profiles. We onboard SAML and OIDC applications to use SSO. Support we got one query while updating the connection configuration details from portal or tool, there is alternative database where can directly modify the profiles. It replicates everywhere immediately. So here in project, sometimes some connections are not present in database and if we do want to change in configuration of any connection which actually does not exist in database, such modifications can not be done through workbench. We can alter the changes only if apps are present in databse which database is configured in workbench.

  ### 28. Recommending MySQL Workbench to my colleagues, friends, and co-professional

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** McNeil Amandy G. | Geologist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Mysql workbench?**

It's a very good tool for database administration as well as designing, modeling, querying, structuring, and visualizing the data. I've used it in UniCenta POS for modifying some values which are not even changeable in the software itself. By using MySQL Workbench it's easy to view and analyze the data that has been encoded in the database and needs technical attention.

**What do you dislike about Mysql workbench?**

I've encountered some downtime, crashes, and some bugs that I need to restart the Workbench. Some queries that need excessive usage and manipulation of a huge number of records can’t be halted sometimes. One needs to kill the instance via the Task Manager or the PID of the application via the command line interface. Probably it has something to do with the computer resources of the end user.

**What problems is Mysql workbench solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The last time I use UniCenta POS, I used the MySQL Workbench to visualize the data, edit some portion of the data, modifying the existing data that UniCenta POS has already provided but was insufficient. It helped me a lot to explain to the client that some works need to be done in order to run the business smoothly.
