"A cost effective way to build your own Virtual World"

What do you like best about OpenSimulator?

The very best thing about Open Simulator, is that it is free. With simply the cost of a co-located server (or dedicated home/office resources), and a little technical know-how, you can immerse yourself in a fully creative sandbox where your imagination is the only barrier. What do you dislike about OpenSimulator?

At least in my experience, there is no massively active community to explain setup and configuration in human language. If you are contimplating creating your own virtual world using OpenSim, you really kind of need to know your stuff on the tech side of things, however there have been some layer 2 solutions to make things a bit more friendly. Recommendations to others considering OpenSimulator:

Before setting up, using, and testing OpenSimulator, it would be advantageous to ensure such a platform meets your requirements. The easiest way to do this is to give Second Life a try, which it was solely based on. You can do a lot within Second Life without spending a dime, and if you find that the collaboration tools within it meet your needs, self-hosting a virtual world that your organization fully controls with the same level of technology is possible with Open Simulator. What problems is OpenSimulator solving and how is that benefiting you?

I mostly appoach OpenSimulator from a hobbyist perspective at the moment, however it has great potential to connect people in both text and voice aspects in a more tangible way. In an age where "work from home" is now the normal, OpenSimular is a great way to self host a way to collaborate within an organization in a more human way with a fully interactive 3D environment. What do you like best about OpenSimulator?

What do you like best about OpenSimulator?

It's an open source and we can use it in all the Operating System for free. It's a new experience that give us a lot of posibilities to grow in our company. We can create all that we imagine in 3D. It's a new tool and new technology taht you need to learn. The first contact with the tool maybe it's hard to know but when you spend hours you fall in love with this tool and all the posibilities that you have in your hand, it's the future and you need to work hard. If you love the virtual reality or 3d escenarios this is the best tool that you can imagine. You can change all that you have in 2D to 3D, you can create mobile applications, games... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OpenSimulator solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are a bed bank company and we need to show to our customers all the hotels that we have available, in the past we can show our hotels via web with pictures, but now we work in the posibilty that the customer see all the hotels we have with a virtual tour, they can experience the hotel but in there home, tehy can see the swimming pool, the rooms, the restaurants...we want that our customers experience the hotel before they go. We work hard in this project and this tool is the perfect solution, now we are in the first stage but maybe in the future we can end this project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
