**What do you like best about Octave Forte 3D?**

I like Octave Forte 3D (Intergraph Smart 3D) because it's a data-centric environment that allows us to work across the globe in real-time. We manage projects effectively on a global scale, and the software supports very large, massive scale projects by allowing us to see live updates as everyone works from the same database. The intelligent modeling is beneficial because we can extract quantities from our models to pass to subcontractors, helping with purchasing and tracking MTO quantities, and we can compare these quantities with our subcontractors. It's excellent for large-scale projects, particularly for plant designs, modeling, and engineering.

**What do you dislike about Octave Forte 3D?**

Some things that could be improved include change management. It would be useful to have a snapshot in time of the first initial revision of a design and then be able to compare new revisions, like rev one or rev two, with revisions stored in the database. Currently, all you can see is the live data, and you can't see previous revisions that were issued. There is also a learning curve; the initial setup can be complicated, though we have good knowledge in-house. Copying setups from one purchase to another could be made easier. It takes some skill, but once you know how to do it, it's quite straightforward.

**What problems is Octave Forte 3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Octave Forte 3D (Intergraph Smart 3D) for plant design, industrial architectural, foundations, piling, and structural to manage global projects. It provides a data-centric environment for live updates, intelligent modeling, which enables effective global collaboration.

**What do you like best about Octave Forte 3D?**

The best thing is that it’s now a 64-bit software, which makes it much faster than the older version. The UI is more advanced and still user-friendly. Features like auto routing are also helpful for users.

**What do you dislike about Octave Forte 3D?**

There are still various test scenarios which needs to be done on large scale. We still not sure how it will help to save time on routing, drawing extractions. Clash rules and its early detection is very crucial and currently it looks like same as older version. Reporting of clashes and the communication between disciplines should have been introduced. We are also not sure about the how much efforts are required for the administration of this version. This was not showcased during the octave live. Licensing cost is also a major concern about this new version.

64 bit version is a major benefit. This should resolve all major performance related issues. UI is advance this is also benefit user on easy operations

**What do you like best about Octave Forte 3D?**

I like how Octave Forte 3D can create a coordinated 3D model of an entire plant, which really helps with visualizing and coordinating civil and structural components with equipment and piping. The clash-detection and coordination capabilities stand out for me because they help identify design issues early and reduce rework during construction. The 3D modeling, multidisciplinary coordination, and drawing generation features are very valuable. I value being able to visualize foundations and structural components accurately with 3D modeling, and clash detection is useful for spotting conflicts between structures, equipment, and piping in the design stage. Also, the coordination tools let me review changes in the overall plant model rather than separately by discipline. Generating drawings from the coordinated model improves accuracy and cuts down on manual work.

**What do you dislike about Octave Forte 3D?**

One area that could be improved is the learning curve. Because Octave Forte 3D is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary tool, it can take some time for new users to become comfortable with its workflows and modeling environment. The interface and navigation can also feel complex initially. I think more intuitive workflows, better in-software guidance, and simpler customization options would make it easier for new users to adopt.

**What do you like best about Octave Forte 3D?**

The best thing about Forte 3D is the ease of team collaboration, earlier we used to use Intergraph smart 3D. Our medium/large sized projects are very independently handled using Forte. The ROI is just massive and the new UI is just fantastic. Even the performance of the whole team has gone up !

**What do you dislike about Octave Forte 3D?**

The initial setup could be a bit complex for some people as the integration isn't as easy. Also there is a bit of a steep learniang curve. Also, coming from a weak economy, we could have used better pricing.

The architectural problems faced by manual design is the biggest problem that it has solved and the constant support recieved from the Octave team has helped us scale up our operations by a mile.

I've been using CAD software for nearly 10 years, and Octave Forte 3D is one of the most impressive programs I've worked with. It has a learning curve at the beginning, but once you understand how it works, it becomes an incredibly powerful and efficient tool. The time invested in learning it is definitely worth it, and it really pays off in terms of productivity and results. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a professional 3D CAD solution.

**What do you like best about Octave Forte 3D?**

What I like most about Octave Forte 3D is how easy it makes it to visualize PCB designs in 3D before moving to manufacturing. Being able to inspect the board from multiple angles and confirm component placement has helped me catch small issues early, which saves time and prevents unnecessary design revisions.

The interface is clean and doesn’t feel overwhelming. After a brief learning curve, I felt comfortable navigating the different views and using the features I rely on most. The software has also performed well on my projects, with smooth model rendering and no noticeable slowdowns during normal use.

It fits neatly into my PCB design workflow, so I’m not wasting extra time switching between tools just to review a design. That alone has made my review process faster and more efficient. From a value standpoint, the time saved during design verification makes it feel like a worthwhile investment, especially if you work on hardware projects regularly.

I haven’t needed to contact support very often, but the documentation and onboarding resources were helpful enough that I could get started without much trouble. A few additional step-by-step tutorials or interactive guides would make it much easier to get comfortable with the more advanced features.

I’d also like to see more AI-powered assistance built into the workflow. Capabilities such as automatic design recommendations, smarter error detection, or contextual suggestions during reviews could help streamline the process and speed things up even further.

From a pricing perspective, the software can feel like a significant investment for smaller teams or individual engineers. It clearly delivers value if you’re using it regularly, but more flexible licensing options or lower-cost plans for small businesses would make it accessible to a wider range of users.

Overall, none of these are deal breakers for me, but they’re areas where I think the product could continue to improve over time.

Before I started using Octave Forte 3D, reviewing PCB designs in 3D usually meant exporting files, jumping between different tools, and spending extra time confirming the board would actually fit inside the enclosure. That workflow was slower overall and made it easier to overlook small mechanical or placement issues.

With Forte 3D, I can review the PCB model much earlier in the design process and check component placement, clearances, and overall fit in a more visual, intuitive way. Because it integrates well with my existing PCB design workflow, I don’t have to waste as much time moving files between applications, which keeps the review process smoother and more consistent.

An aspect that could be improved is the overall performance allowing the user to modelagem in a faster way. But the main improvement would be to allow the user to use the tool by code in the same way AVEVA tools do.

**What do you like best about Octave Forte 3D?**

I used Octave Forte 3D (Intergraph Smart 3D) for designing and managing models for our industrial partners. I really like its rule-based design approach, which helps maintain consistency and catches potential issues early in the design phase. I also appreciate how easy it is to visualize the entire production line before construction.

**What do you dislike about Octave Forte 3D?**

The software has a noticeable learning curve, especially for new users like me. Additionally, it requires a powerful PC to run smoothly, especially on large projects. The setup is also a little bit complex, and despite being good with PCs, we had to call our IT guy.

I use Octave Forte 3D for designing models, which helps catch potential issues early and prevents expensive rework and safety hazards.

The most helpful with collaberate with all CAD, Revit, Civil3d & BIM, I want to learn more. Can to give me as a trial version to see in detail how to use.

The variety of tool and applications. The quantity of information we can manage. The size of projects to develop. Reliable data base and tracking of changes.

**What do you dislike about Octave Forte 3D?**

The delay in the new client development and addition of toolkit tools on this. The exchange of information with Foundation. The poor capabilities for cable modelling.

**What problems is Octave Forte 3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

3D  and big projects developments. Piping management. Poor electrical management. Working in different countries for complex projects with lots of information.
