NYSHEX Reviews & Product Details

Moving a container involves two bets. The first is that it moves the way you agreed - the space is there, the booking is loaded, and delivered according to plan. The second is on price: what it costs to move a box can double or halve between the day you plan your year and the day it sails. Put together, that's supply chain risk, and it's why freight budgets miss, why carriers and shippers spend so long arguing after the fact, and why nobody quite trusts the plan. The odd part is how little exists to manage it. Other markets got their tools decades ago - a price everyone trusts, a way to hedge it, systems that show what was actually agreed vs what happened. Container shipping, the biggest freight market of them all, never did. That's what NYSHEX (The New York Shipping Exchange) builds. We publish NYFI, a container freight index built from rates that actually shipped, and we give it to the industry free. On top of it sit two toolsets. Planning & Execution keeps everyone working from the same version of what was agreed, and alert users when a shipment drifts away from it. Market Intelligence shows where rates are heading, whether yours still stack up, and how to hedge.
