NetXMS has many strengths compared to other monitoring tools, in fact, I dare to say with total confidence that it is more than just a monitoring tool. Below are some of the points that I find most relevant:

Simplicity: The tool is very easy to configure, following a few steps you will have a powerful tool that will allow you to monitor practically any indicator of your critical systems.

OpenSource: The "open source" philosophy of NetXMS is another feature that adds extra points in terms of security (the code can be reviewed by cybersecurity specialists to detect and mitigate security breaches) and robustness (enterprise-grade functionalities are always added that are not found in other tools).

Architecture: NetXMS has been designed on a decentralized architecture, which provides great ease when scalability is required. Security by allowing the separation of the frontend from the backend, a fundamental requirement in financial environments that must comply with PCI DSS regulations, and it uses cutting-edge encryption algorithms.

Versatility: Regardless of the type of implementation, the platform can be adapted to monitor anything, it doesn't matter if the devices are behind a NAT or if you want to monitor IoT sensors or OT network devices, NetXMS will always be able to monitor the company's critical assets.

Functionalities: It is surprising how NetXMS has very useful and indispensable functionalities that help when solving problems (troubleshooting), it not only monitors the devices we want, it also allows alerting through log review (syslog or any other), generating network topology maps, discovering where the devices we are looking for are connected, etc.

Support: The core of NetXMS is completely free, this allows for support from the NetXMS community, in addition, if customizations or first-level technical assistance are required directly from the manufacturer, NetXMS also has paid support subscriptions with which you can have better response times and the ability to adapt the tool to any company need.

It's difficult to find anything to dislike about the tool. Perhaps I could point out that the interface (aesthetically speaking) requires a bit more work, but this does not affect its functionalities and benefits at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It can monitor anything, the templates and scripting language enable it to do anything you want. I found it easier than any of the other monitoring tools I tried. This was easy to add on to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I would not say dislike. The documents could have more examples but there are always help in the Forum. Network topology discovery is great.

"Find MAC address" tool is invaluable.

Ability to use scripting for many aspects.

Fine-grained access controls.

The web interface is a bit...odd....compared to other web-based tools. For example, you can't do something simple like copy text from any part of the UI. Yes, you can copy various things from the UI but only if it gives you such an option.

However, I think the web interface is due to be revamped in 4.2 so there is hope! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It does everything that I need it to do, and whole lot of other things that I want it to do - it even does that that I didn't know I needed until I had it.
