For new user who is not familiar with encryption will get difficulties to understand it. There are tons of standout feature that we get with Netapp Snapvault. But the one that I like the most is the granular control over data protection and recovery. Specifically, what I appreciate most is: Point-in-Time Recovery: Netapp Snapvault allows you to recover data from any point in time when the snapshot was created. You can control the snapshot creation time using a snapshot policy. Amazing part is that, multiple snapshot copies having the same data do not occupy redundant space on the Storage system, so we also get space efficiency along with point-in-time recovery feature Fast Data Recovery : Netapp Snapvault allows us to recover our data very fast in case of any disaster. If the source volume goes down the snapvault relationship breaks and your backup volume becomes RW, you just need to mount the backup volume on your servers and you are ready to go. While Netapp Snapvault is a higly effective Backup and Recovery option there are certain challenges that I would like to mention :- Dedicated Technical Expertise : You will need People who have technical expertise in Netapp Storage Products to configure Snapvault relationship. There is a learning curve involved. Cost : Netapp Products including Snapvault licenses are bit expensive and sometimes out of budget of small and medium scale enterprises. It uses incremental backup and deduplication technology so only the data Data Retention: SnapVault allows organizations to create snapshot policies that specify how many days of backup data should be retained.
